Apartment:

Locatie was top

The location is wonderful, set in a beautiful secluded garden with views to the sea. The walk into the centre of town is very steep but there is a bus service. The hosts are very kind and thoughtful and provided lovely food, fresh fruit and eggs from the chickens which live in the garden. It is a delightful spot and we would definitely stay here again if we return to Madeira.

Great and very friendly hosts, beautiful surrounding with garden (where you can use the vegetables) and pool and we even got full welcome package with food, dinner, wine and delicious dessert!
It is quite high and steep, so you need to be prepared to go back by Bolt or bus.

Abel and Teresa were superb hosts as were the apartment and gardens. Can't wait to go back some day .

It was an excellent quinta. We really enjoyed the beautiful garden and swimming in the pool. It is a perfect location for holidays with a baby. We were warmly welcomed by the hosts who prepared a small dish for us and equipped the fridge with all the food for breakfast, including fruit and vegetables.
There isn't really anything to flag, perhaps one thing to note is that the place doesn't have air conditioning so it was a bit hot at night- the week we visited Madeira was particularly hot (over 30C).

Absolutely everything! The house, the hosts, the view, the pool, the gardens!
The host went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and give us fresh fruit, homemade Madeiran deserts, fresh tuna, wines and beers and there’s also fresh fruits, veg and herbs you can help yourself to in the gardens. I can’t recommend this place enough

We had a fantastic stay at Quinta do Bom Sucesso. We were greeted on arrival and shown round the gardens and our rooms. We also found waiting for us a basket containing avocados, bananas, eggs and other produce that is grown within the gardens there. There was even some wine and beers in the fridge. It was a great start to the trip.
The Quinta is located out of the hustle and bustle of Funchal. We took the bus down to the city centre (around 15 mins) and used a hire car to go everywhere else on the island. Parking can be a little tricky at the Quinta, but with a little coordination this wasn't a big issue.
Our rooms were perfect for what we needed. We made the most of the kitchen facilities and cooked our own meals most of the week. There is a bakery and small supermarket up the road which was ideal. The pool was also a great thing to have and we spent a few afternoons relaxing by the pool looking out to sea (great views).
Overall I would highly recommend the Quinta as a place to stay. We were warmly welcomed and thoroughly enjoyed our week there.

Abel, the owner of the apartment, met us upon arrival and showed us the whole property. We found a spotlessly clean apartment and a kitchen filled with everything needed for the first days of our stay: a basket full of fresh eggs of the hens of the property, another basket with fruits and vegetables from the garden, fresh bread from the bakery and a fridge filled with cheese, yoghurts, milk and a self-made passion fruit dessert by Theresa, Abel's wife! Further, there was a little crib for our daughter, prepared with everything needed for a baby. Throughout the week, we could also pick fresh fruit and vegetables from the garden. Our daughter also felt right away at home with the apartment and especially the owner family, Abel, Theresa and also their two sons who happened to be there over Easter. The whole family has a genuine hospitality and make one feel right away at home. As there is a huge, closed garden, hens, fish ponds and many more attractions for a small child, the stay was also perfect for our 18 month old daughter. For older children and adults, there is also a swimming pool and plenty of nice sitting spots to enjoy the marvellous view over Funchal and the sea. Our daughter also felt right away at home with the apartment and especially the owner family, who always had something to show her and some nice words to share. We had a truly relaxing and nice stay! Abel, Theresa and her sons are simply the best hosts! We for sure never had such a warm, efficient and genuine welcome in an apartment we rented in the past. Many thanks again for this amazing week!
Nothing. Everything was perfect!

Incredibly welcoming and friendly hosts. A fantastic welcome hamper of food and drinks and home grown fruit. Wonderful gardens with lots of space to relax. A very comfortable and well equipped Appartment.
About a mile from the seafront - didn’t bother us as we were on a walking holiday, and there is a bus stop close by.

The charming apartment was set in a beautiful large garden full of fruit and vegetables that the owner encouraged us to use.
The hosts, Abel and Theresa were unsurpassed in their kindness and generosity. In all the years that we have hired rental properties we have never experienced anything like it. They gave fruits and vegetables wine, water and juice, fresh eggs from their chickens and a veritable feast of goodies. Quite extraordinary. The Quinta is on a busy road but you would never guess that you are in a city it's a peaceful oasis. Communication before the holiday was very friendly and informative and everything worked beautifully. The walk to the city centre is steep, a bit of a workout but there is a regular and cheap bus service to the city centre and airport, if you prefer.

This was just a perfect stay, probably the best one so far, although we travel quite a lot. The place itself is amazing, we loved the terrace and the garden but what really made it special is the hosts. Special thanks to Tereza for being such a kind and caring host! We loved it there, and will definitely recommend it and hopefully come again next year!

Spacious and comfortable property in a magical garden, managed by the most helpful and generous hosts you can imagine.
The bus stop is really near. We chose not to hire a car and managed to do everything we wanted using the local buses. The airport bus stops just round the corner.
The local mini-markets, bakery and fruit n veg shops are also very nearby.
We stayed in the garden house. The kitchen has been renovated since the photos, with modern units and an induction hob. We found the kitchen extremely well equipped. Access to the house is through a shady private terrace, and there is also a large sun terrace on the roof.
It’s all good. Strongly recommended.

That's probably best place to stay in Madeira. We loved absolutely everything. The owners made this place home for everyone. We travelled with a family and we booked two apartments both of which exceed our expectations. The garden is so nice and the view is spectacular. The fridge contained of basic food and drinks. We got some eggs, fruits, vegetables and a fish pie made by the owner was delicious. They made so much effort, really appreciate it! We'd like to thank you for making our stay best stay ever. Definitely coming back.

Quinta do Bom Sucesso is a magical place, full of greenery, flowers and tropical fruits. Abel is fantastic host and perfectly takes care of his guests. On the first day Abel greeted us with a dinner and delicious passionfriut dessert. Also, he prepared for us a basket full of fresh fruits and vegetables from his garden, eggs, wine and local delicacies. We stayed in an apartment with private space in beautiful garden and we highly recommend this one. The views from the garden are spectacular. It was a pleasure to stay full two weeks there. Abel, thank you so much for amazing time we could spend in Quinta! We hope to come back soon.

The Aerobus stops almost directly in front of the Quinta. When we arrived, our kind host Abel already waited for us on the street to show us around the garden with its several fruits an vegetables which guests can constantly pick from. There’s also a salty pool with a great view over the ocean and of course there’s space to park your rented car on the Quinta.
The Apartment itself is clean, has a well-equipped kitchen and a big, comfortable bed. The windows are all headed towards the ocean, too.
For the first day Abel already equipped the fridge with fruit and vegetables as well as eggs from the garden, which we could refill whenever we wanted. Anything else we needed was available in two (!) supermarkets and a very good bakery in only a three minutes walk’s distance.
There is a street close to the house and sometimes it is a little bit loud. But when you sit at the pool area it doesn’t matter and at the end we were fine with it :))

We arrived at the Quinta and the fridge was already filled with everything you need for breakfast, including fresh eggs from their chickens. Additionally there was a basket with fruits and vegetables from the Garden and fresh buns from the bakery. It made you feel like home. We were particularly happy about the super delicious homemade passion fruit puree. The owner of the Quinta were also very nice and hospitable :-) Everything was just perfect, so thank you very much!

The hosts were fantastic - kind, generous, helpful. They met us on arrival and showed us around the property which really helped us as this was the first time we had travelled abroad with our baby. They had a crib, baby bath and high chair in the apartment as well as washing facilities. The Quinta has the most lovely gardens and there is a lovely little swimming pool too. The views are fantastic over Funchal and the ocean. It was so nice to have some food left in the apartment for us on arrival and also be able to use the kitchen garden. There was everything in the kitchen you could ever need - coffee machine, dishwasher, freezer, microwave, toaster, juicer... The fabulous bakery and supermarkets just around the corner meant that getting food in was so convenient. Although the pavements near the property are not great for a pram, we found that the bus services to/from the airport and also to/from Funchal and the botanic gardens so convenient - bus stops 100m from the property - and so we mainly carried our son in a carrier. As Funchal is so hilly having public transport on the doorstep was welcome! Highly recommended - we had the convenience of access to Funchal without having to stay in the city but only a few minutes away by bus and therefore could enjoy the fabulous gardens and have space to relax.
It was a little hot during our stay and the apartment doesn't have AC but the owners were kind enough to lend us a fan to help our little one stay cool. Mostly everything was in good condition, though the main shower needs a little fix.

Apartment..... hosts had provided food for lunch and many extras. Garden is lovely. Views over Funchal from balcony. Pretty in the evening.
Good facilities for self catering. Good transport links from outside to local attractions or into centre.
Nothing but wouldn't be suitable for people with mobility issues.

We really enjoyed staying at this property. The owners were so kind and helpful and the flat had everything we could possibly need. Communication prior to stay was excellent. Beautiful garden with local produce that we could pick & eat. 10/10
crossing the road could be hazardous as it is on a bend.

The appartement was a bit hot at night without airco.

the garden apartment is equipped with all amenities one can wish for. Sunterrace with great outlook on the roof. Abel en Teresa are super friendly and were helpful with the transfers. Upon arrival we found the fridge stocked extensively with nice surprises so we could enjoy a meal straight away! Fruits and vegetables from the garden are freely available. Our apartment was very quiet. We really felt at home and couldn't have wished for more.
For visits to Funchal the location is excellent with the busstop right in front of the house, since you don't want to walk too much uphill in Funchal.

The hosts were so obliging and helpful. They went out of their way for us.
Lots of little extras were in the apartment which was a lovely surprise .
Fresh eggs from the chickens were fantastic.
Views and settings in reality were more beautiful than the photos show.

We had a wonderful time! From first communicating with Edgar about extending our booking, to arriving on a late flight and Abel waiting up for us to check us in and show us around to the fresh fruit, delicious maracuja dessert and other groceries waiting for us in the apartment, everyone went above and beyond to make our stay as pleasant as possible.
Both the center of Funchal (down the hill) and the Botanical Garden (up the hill) are within walking distance. As for noise from the street that was mentioned in some reviews: you do hear some cars, but even when sleeping with the bedroom window open we weren't bothered. Overall highly recommended, especially if you're looking for a place away from touristy spots.
Nothing - with so much to explore in Madeira we only wished we'd had more time to just enjoy the Quinta :)

This was probably the best stay we've ever had anywhere - and there have been some good ones over the years. The property is beautiful, especially the garden; and it is ideally sited a short distance (15 minutes walk) from Funchal centre, easy to get to, but far enough away that the area is populated with Madeirans who are not wearing hotel uniforms! The botanical gardens and cable car to Monte were 10 minutes walk away in the other direction. But what really makes the place are the owners - Abel, Teresa and Henriques went out of their way to make sure we had a lovely holiday, starting with the groceries they put in the kitchen for when we arrived (including the delicious homemade dessert that we loved but couldn't finish) and extending through a series of kind gestures through the week. They were available without being intrusive, and delighted in showing us round their property, always ready for a chat about the flora and what it is like living in Madeira.
There wasn't anything we didn't like. To get from bedroom to kitchen in the apartment we stayed in, we had to go outside onto the balcony, but it really wasn't a problem. There is, as some other reviewers have noted, some traffic noise from the road outside - but that is just Funchal: a busy city in which almost every road is steep, meaning that vehicle engines have to work hard. Our apartment was the nearest to the road (the quinta has a couple of others), but the double-glazing on the roadward side of the apartment shut the noise out at night very effectively; and we could leave windows open on the other side to ventilate the bedroom satisfactorily (and I speak as someone who really doesn't like being too warm when in bed).

We stayed in comfortable room with perfectly equipped kitchen, surrounded by a beautiful garden. Hosts, Abel and Teresa were extraordinary kind and helpful - they welcomed us with homemade maracuja pudding, eggs and two baskets of fruits and vegetable from their garden - delicious! We were treated like a family and my kids loved this place! There is a very nice view from the garden on the harbor and Funchal, Quinta is located on a hill - we were using a car, so it was not a problem for us, but you can consider buying a ticket for a bus for few days if you are planning to stay without a car in Quinta. Grocery shop and bakery are very close. Highly recommended, we hope to come back some day.
