It was ok for what we wanted for a one night stay

It was very quiet. No traffic or noice.The manager was very helpfull .Plenty of space to park

The inn needs a good update . Windows are disguiting .The lasagne looked like a bowl of soup . Need to have menus on the tables and let you chose what you want for breakfast

We arrived early so went into Thirsk to visit the James Herriot experiencnce. Would visit that again

Location, picturesque surroundings, very friendly staff, interesting bed !!

Bath could have been non slip for showering, maybe assist handles over bath and maybe a non slip mat for the bath

A TRUE GEM.

Just look at the place, quant, fully of character, a lot of history, charming, words don't do it justice, if we had more time would of stayed longer, great hosts, terrific meals, couldn't do enough for you. Don't do or alter this charming place in any way, PLEASE.

Great friendly staff, the food was excellent.

The Breakfast was excellent and great value for money. The Landlord was welcoming and extremely helpful even taking us to pick up our car in the morning from the wedding venue we were at. I would definitely recommend this venue to all looking for somewhere to stay in this area.

Lovely place to stay

A little out the way depending on what you want. Looks deceiving but was pleasantly surprised

Well fed, comfortable, and a good place to drink

It is an 18th century building so it is an old building but what they have managed to do with it to bring it into the 21st century is very good. The owners and the staff were very helpful and made you feel welcome and the food is delicious, and you get plenty of it .

There wasn’t really anything bad about it. The drinks was good. The food was good and the company was Good so we were made to feel welcome and it was comfortable.

Good value for money in a pleasant country pub.

Excellent location, close to Ripon, but had the advantage of being a country pub. Enjoyed our meal in the pub too.

The bed was not totally comfortable.

very enjoyable in a very nice quiet village location.

I was using the facility as a room only while attending a wedding nearby. Even so Chris the Landlord was extremely amenable and nothing was to much trouble for him.

Food.......Excellent menu, cooked from scratch. Very good portions!!! Staff very welcoming. Obviously a good village pub, with regular patrons.

Bathroom a little tired, but certainly adequate. Could have done with a plug socket near the bed to charge phone.

we really enjoyed our stay here. the whole place is full of character. we saw some reviews saying the decor needs updating but for us it was all part of the charm. lovely home cooked, hearty meals and amazing staff

Kind friendly host

Don't judge a book by it's cover- Great Bed, Great Meal, Great Breakfast and Great Staff

The proprietors very kindly allowed our family to get changed for the races earlier than normal check in time, which was much appreciated. We were recommended a taxi service to use - excellent A lovely large family table was provided for an evening meal after we returned from the races, the meal far exceeded our expectations. We slept extremely well and had a great hot bath in the morning. Breakfast could not be faulted, great service, freshly cooked more than enough.

There was nothing we didn't like, however the outside garden space and the rooms could do with a bit of refurb. However that said we would not hesitate to return.

Evening meal consisting of belly pork and lamb shank exceptional. Cooked breakfast option was available but not taken. Light breakfast of toast and coffee reasonable.

Had a great stay for 4 nights, central to everything we wanted to see. Friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful food. Ate there every night, great choice and prices
