I loved the location and small house (part of it) where we were accommodated. I enjoyed our own al fresco breakfast.

Friendly staff and a lovely breakfast spread which met all our tastes.
The damp smell in the room

The fridge worked that shows you how mediocre this place is and that hapily was better than the people at the front of the MOTEL (yes look on the OS map) that might as well have been in a shed.
The MOTEL was left over from the days when it was just that. The 'Retreat' (extra cost) was a terraced building made of breeze blocks (thin ones) so that you could here what was going on. Despite the premium price the bed barely took 2 normal sized peole let alone the ballons in the restarant. The food was bland and the breakfast although copious was overcooked and sad. Would I stay again no, nor would I recomment unless you are on expenses or like the location. The price was more than a Premier and the night's sleep was terrible. The only towel (for two) was dirty on arrival the other we found in the wardrobe?? One set of toileteries for a 2 two day stay for two people. As is always the way no standards so anythng goes and eventualy slides. Ran out out of Gin due to the pm wake???

Lovely quiet location! Was able to park right outside my room. The room it’s self is really nice! Staff were lovely and went above and beyond for us.
Evening food was good but could be better! And the shower was a bit small for me being a 6’4 bloke but other than that was great!

We only used the hotel as a stopover on our way to France and it was perfect for our needs. We liked that it was quiet and peaceful and everything we needed was on hand. We particularly liked the fact that we were able to park immediately outside our accommodation.
At the price we could not have expected anything better.

The quiet location and idyllic setting was perfect for a quick country retreat.
I think as dogs are permitted to the venue, it looks like they have access to lots of fields but they do not as they have to be on lead. Using the vacant enclosed area as a dog park, would be ideal to entertain our pooches.
Also could do with a dog bed in the rooms.

Fantastic breakfast..very friendly staff. Great location and comfortable room. Lovely converted cottage.
Not happy about the extra £15 charge for my dog....taking us well over budget for a nights stay. Think that should be stated clearly on booking.com that extra charges apply for pets.

Ideally situated for derbyshire dales.

lovely bungalows. grounds were lovely. Would love to go back and see in the summer
quilt, very thin needed to be a bit larger. had to plug in the kettle on the other side of the room. Then carry it back to where the tea tray was could’ve been quite dangerous for somebody out of the. Could be quite dangerous for somebody elderly and not sure on their feet. restaurant was freezing when we went down for evening meal, even staff member commented

exceptionally comfortable room, warm and welcoming. Staff were great. parking immediately outside room/cottage.
Very modern, clean, bathroom but the shower arrangement left a lot to be desired. had to squeeze past the toilet to access the walk-in shower and electric shower.

The staff, (esspecially Chris & Donna) were wonderfully kind and our breakfast was lovely. The location was nice.
There was a strong smell of human waste (faesies) for the whole duration of our stay. Upon opening the bathroom window trying to figure out where the smell was clming from; we discovered the drain was completely backed up and saw raw sewage pumping out of the drain upon flushing the toilet. We saw this spilling across the drive to the front of the cottages we were stating in also which it seems the staff were aware of as the staff had covered the drain with a sheet of ply wood and made a gully for the waste to leak out of.
On arrival there was an expensive auto air freshener on perminant spray in the room, which didn't cover the odour. Again, this implied the staff knew about the raw sewage.
Our dog walked through the sewage and we had to wash her (for obvious reasons) so our romantic get away after 4 months of non stop work without any days off was tainted somewhat!!
The Internet connection was also really weak meaning we couldn't even watch a film without it loading every 20 minutes after washing other people's faeries off our dog!!!
Upon arrival the room was grubby and dusty. The room also looked nothing like the images on Booking.com and was also extremely cold with a small heater which turned off after a while.
Breakfast was lovely and Chris was a superstar like I said but overall we were very dissapointed with the issues outlined above.
