Los Lagos Lodge is a beautiful family run property with lovely gardens and charming cabins in The Valley. The Hosts are wonderful and made us feel very welcome and at home, they accommodated special requests such as organising a pick up for us at the bus station and serving us breakfast extra early in time for our departure. The breakfast at Los Lagos Lodge is the best we’ve had in Costa Rica.
The cabins aren’t very well insulated so it gets cold in there at night. We are from Germany and are used to cold weather but it’s a little different here because there was a draft through the gaps in the doors and windows and the small speaker sized heating unit isn’t much help with that. Our second night we slept with pullovers on and then it was much better.

Very spacious and cozy lodge, the beds were extremely comfortable and from our deck we could watch tons of hummingbirds and other beautiful birds Very lovely and kind host!

A beautiful, family run business in the heart of the Cloud Forest. Saw resplendent Querzals! Staff were wonderful. Going back for another stay on our way back to San Jose.

The views from our cabin were stunning. The cabin was a little more rustic than we had anticipated but it was comfortable and had a small heater that quickly warmed the space up. There was a fridge and coffee maker. There were hooks on the wall that were useful for hanging up damp clothes.
The family who run the Lodge are charming and welcoming
As other reviews stated, the shower had to be turned on very slightly to get warm water and the water didn’t drain quickly from the shower basin. Not a major problem at all.

I had my own little mountain cabin...this valley is such a peaceful place! The staff was super nice and helpful. And the restaurant was even open fir dinner. Loved my stay.

Quaint little casita in San Gerardo de Dota. Simple room with only the necessities. Beautiful property. Delicious breakfast. Very friendly and helpful staff.

The location Is very beautiful. At 2300 metres High, in the Mountain of Cherro de la muerte. The Little houses are located on a Little Hill in a beautiful garden surrounded by plants, flowers and trees
There wasn't clear comunication with the staff because they only speak costarican spanish. But they are very gentle. The wifi and the TV di not work in the room (but we did not Need a TV, so It doesnt matter).

Location had good access for birding, hiking, and restaurants. Lovely view from Cabina 4. Cabin had small fridge and deck for relaxing. Friendly and helpful staff. Restaurant meals were good and its views were also lovely.
Cabina was a little worn (e.g. carpet thin and coming up). Cleanliness could be improved ( e.g. water glass in bathroom dirty, coffee left in coffee maker, cockroaches in bathroom). Bathroom was cold due to open window and tiles.

the location was gorgeous with its own hiking trail (i saw male and female quetzal in “their” avocado tree). staff was very friendly
prepare for cold water showers. i mentioned it and got another cabin (which was very nice of them), but still no warm water. also it gets very cold at night and you can feel the wind coming through all windows, holes etc. there was a small heater available but in my second cabin didn’t work either. toilets weren’t properly cleaned. expect insects in your bed.
no vegetarian/vegan options on their dinner menu.
i only give it a 6 because the people were friendly and i feel bad for saying this. i just really hope they improve some things because it’s a lovely property and it could be a very nice stay

The owners greeted us immediately, were always ready for questions and very proactive towards grating us comfort. They even handed us some hot chocolate the minute we arrived. Loved the breakfasts - literally couldn't eat lunch afterwards cuz it was so big and fresh and delicious that we just had to finish every single bit. The balcony was very cozy, with jaw-dropping view of the majestic mountains, which no other hotel in the area could offer. The bed had thick, warm and freshly washed linens and comforters - it was a big struggle to get out cuz it was so comfy.
The bathroom looks brand-new and was utterly clean, but the shower head could be a bit more modern - not that it wasn't working perfectly, as I say it was in mint conditions. The only detail was that the shower area is big, so we felt like we would be able to take better advantage of the size with a hand-held shower head. Regardless, I took several baths without any problem and the water was very warm and had good pressure. Just a tiny detail that could get the stay from a 9 to a 10.

The property was very scenic and fun to explore. Hummingbirds abound, and cool birds like flame-coloured tanagers, acorn woodpeckers, Baltimore orioles, and chestnut-sided sparrows visited for feeding. Some food is grown onsite - you can even catch your own trout for dinner. I was greeted with a fresh glass of fruit juice and the staff were very pleasant and cheerful. The staff is strictly Spanish-speaking, but were very sweet in accommodating me and my English translation app. Restaurant food was delicious. My elevated cabin had huge picture windows looking over the property and up into the mountains. Conveniently located near one of the only mini-supers in the valley. I loved my stay and hope I can return someday.
Wifi reception is non-existent in the cabins, very weak except in the restaurant, and is very old technology which prevented me from connecting to a secure network for work. Parking is very limited. No hot water in the cabins in the morning, so choose to shower in the evening. No heat in the cabins, but lots of blankets are thoughtfully provided. Cabin walls are very thin, so your rest may depend on how considerate your neighbours are in walking and talking.

The food and service was excellent. The cabins are very comfortable with large windows that look toward the mountains. Small patios for relaxing w coffee, which comes w the room.

Great host, very attentive and helps with planning or for example to get a taxi, very good breakfast, delicious trout, a bit difficult to get to the accommodation without a car (easy by car, steep roads but no 4x4 necessary), but also that worked in the end. The host had organized a taxi to the bus stop for the departure.
The huts can cool down a bit at night. There are fan heaters in the cabins but they are too small for the whole hut. Not a big problem as very good and warm beds and soft sheets are available. Slept very well.

The room was so clean and the staff kindness was exceptional. The food was great.
I would improve the hot water just that, isn’t bad but could be better.

Beautiful setting. The staff was friendly and helpful in arranging a guide. Food and service was excellent!
It would have been nice to have WIFI in the room but they allowed me to stay in the restaurant and use the WIFI there so not a major issue.

Extraordinary breakfast & amazing views from the bungalow! Super friendly staff

Nice, cozy, clean, comfortable cabins. Great staff, very friendly and helpful. Good location for us since we where mixing our anniversary with trout fishing on the Savegre river (Catch&Release fly fishing), which both my spouse and I love, Good breakfast.
The cabins , restaurant and administrative areas are not all in the same premises. The restaurant is a short, but steep walk away form the cabins, so some people might prefer to drive. It might be due to the time of the year, or reasons having to do with COVID crisis, but the restaurant seemed to be understaffed. The menu needs to be expanded. It is very limited, mostly comprised of trout-based dishes. If you like trout, this will be heaven for you. Restaurant hours also need to be expanded. 7PM closing time is way too early. Tip: Take some munchies and drinks with you to keep in your room's small refrigerator.
