Nice break

Lovely places for the night. The cabin was nice to sit by the lake. Good coffee machine. Nice walk around the area. Nice breakfast

A kettle would have been good as the coffee machine wasn't the best for this

Peaceful and great for birdwatching

The location is great. Very quiet and peaceful. The lodge has its own walking trails and is close to some lovely botanical gardens. San Gerado de Dota has many great places to eat and has many fantastic places to bird watch. We were virtually the only guests for the first 2 days of our visit which was great.

The breakfast was good but the same menu was offered for lunch and dinner and was a bit underwhelming . In saying this, my food was nice nonetheless.

Exceptional

This is a very solid choice for your stay in SGdeDota. Exceptionally kind and helpful staff made our visit easy and fun. The rooms are quite nice, and the property has its own hiking trail and hammocks by the river. Up the road a short distance Savagre has a $10 trail that is also worth hiking. All the hotels in the valley host birding groups, so one minute they seem empty, then 30 people arrive, but it never felt crowded. If you are a birder not on a tour, ask them to connect you with Agniel Trejos, a local and exceptionally well-educated, enthusiastic, and nimble guide.

Nice place, beautiful location, great quetzal tour.

I stayed in a beautiful cabin room with a balcony overlooking a small pond. There is a great set of hiking trails nearby. Also, there are a very good restaurant and small shop on the premises. Had a wonderful trout dinner there. Wait staff were very friendly and accommodating. Took a wonderful Quetzal tour early in the morning. Saw lots of Quetzals, guide was great.

A small heater was provided for the room. It was not adequate as the room was quite cool in the early morning.

Beautiful hotel within the nature

Beautiful hotel with nice cottages around a little lake. Really proper, large and high rooms with a nice bathroom and really warm showers. Staff very nice and helpful, organized us a fantastic Quetzal Tour. tasty dinner and delicious breakfast.

not the hotel‘s fault, but due to the heavy rain we could not use the canoe on the little lake and the trails around the hotel.

Hidden gem, could use a little update

Breakfast was amazing! The trails and the lake are very very pretty. The staff is friendly. Location is great!

- The bed was kind of small and the mattress was a little too soft. - Our shower was accessible which is great but the water kept coming out and going everywhere on the bathroom so it got a little messy at one point. - I am very sensible to cold and so I wanted to keep my room all warm and toasty after going hiking. The first night we ran out of firewood at 9pm and the front desk was already closed and the second night we ran out at 8pm. We asked for more wood and the front desk said they did not have any more. - No phone to communicate with front desk and no cellphone signal. Every time we needed something for our room we had to go out into the cold to request it. - No curtain on top window. At 6am the sun came up and our room got very bright and so it was not possible to sleep in.
