A beautifully presented cottage in an excellent location. The owner, David, always makes us feel as if we are visiting family.
4.9
A comfortable cottage in a fabulous location, ideal for younger couples. The owners were particularly helpful and friendly.
4.9
A delightful cottage set in beautiful surroundings. The gardens are wonderful and the orchard has fabulous views over Porlock Marshes, Hurlstone Point and Bossington Hill - great for catching the sunrise / sunset. The cottage is cosy, bright and very well equipped. The upstairs bedroom is very comfortable (best bed ever!) and has great views. There are plenty of walks straight from the cottage door with the added bonus of access to the Coleridge Way via their orchard. The owners are lovely and more than helpful if you need them. If you're looking for peace, quiet and comfort, this cottage is for you. Recognition to whomever is responsible for keeping the cottage clean - it's absolutely spotless. We had a wonderful week and have already booked for 2023 !

All lovely. Stairs rather awkward. Basically everything we needed although a small non stick milkpan would have been useful and maybe a few more pegs!. Courtyard and Orchard very peaceful with lovely views.
Our little dog loved it too. Good location for the weir and Porlock. Very clean and tidy. A beautiful garden to look out on.
4.9
A lovely location, just delightful, well equipped and very warm; so necessary on the wet days. We loved it.
4.9
A lovely place to stay, even in the middle of Winter, very much a home from home feel to it. Great for dogs, with a lovely orchard behind the property they can use. Owners were lovely people, and offered any help we required. Hopefully we will return this year, as the walking for dogs is probably one of the best areas I have been to.
4.9
Amazing area. Lots to look at and fantastic walks. Roads are steep and narrow and its like being in different country.
Love it
This is the 3rd time we have been to the same cottage. Warm and very comfortable with a very good shower (over the bath). Easy place for dogs. High walled courtyard in front of the house, lovely to sit out in in the sunshine. Fantastic enclosed orchard that is well fenced and back access to off the road walks on Porlock hill ( not all of them steep) .
If you like nature then this is the place to come.
4.9
An amazing place to stay. Very clean, with everything that we needed. Despite the shorter days, there were plenty of things to do - walking during the day, and a couple of really nice places to eat in the evening. The log burner really made us feel at home.
We'll definitely return if passing Porlock in the future.

Another wonderful fortnight in Coachman's Cottage - We keep coming back for a reason!
Beautiful location, with a never ending supply of walks straight from the door. A great selection of pubs and tea gardens and swimming in the sea on those hot August days.
Super friendly and helpful hosts David and Nicky.
Lovely simple, quiet cottage for two with it's own sunny courtyard, and access to a beautiful orchard for just sitting and enjoying the sunshine, quiet and the buzz of bees. Everything you need for a comfortable stay, and the hosts always willing to help you out should you have any issues.
Thanks once again for an absolutely great holiday!

As I wrote in the visitors book, I can only concur with all the other very favourable reviews. The cottage is exactly as shown in the photographs, ideal location, excellent car parking, warm and comfortable inside, well equipped, fabulous smart TV, which is well worth working out how to use, good internet connection.
Just the right amount of interaction with the hosts who live next door, warm welcome, helpful but not intrusive.
Secure orchard paddock where dogs can run free, a major factor when we are looking for a cottage rental.
I would be happy to return here, maybe later next year. The surrounding area is wonderful walking country, Hawkcombe Valley from Porlock, and the Horner Valley, from nearby Horner, with its dog friendly tea gardens, as well as the coastal path, accessed directly from the rear of the property. Lynmouth is best avoided at this time of year ( August ), packed to capacity with holiday makers, not good in view of pandemic.
4.9
A very peaceful and quiet location, yet proximity to Porlock is great, only a 5 minute walk. The Colerdige way, directly accessible via the orchard to the rear of the property, is wonderful and local walking, whether to the sea or Porlock Weir and on to Culbone Church is spectacular.
4.9
A warm welcome from the owner on arrival . A lovely cottage , with books and comfortable soft furnishings. Views over the salt marsh from the sitting room and bedroom , a real treat.
4.9
Beautiful cottage-very warm, comfortable and well equipped. Great views, easy 10 minute walk into Porlock, and plenty of walks from the cottage.
David and Nicky were terrific hosts and we will be returning.

Beautiful location. Private - but close by are very helpful and friendly hosts. Perfect for dogs and people. Enclosed courtyard; sea view; doggy friendly orchard. Clean, comfortable, stylish and attractive. Bedroom - the comfort and the view- wonderful. Don’t come. It’s ours!
4.9
Characterful and comfortable cottage set in the grounds of the owners beautiful gardens. Beautiful views of the Bristol Channel and a great base for exploring Exmoor. Porlock is a thriving village with many useful amenities.
The owners were very welcoming and helpful and made our stay an absolute pleasure.
Looking forward to going back!

Coachman’s Cottage is a little gem. Located just far enough outside Porlock to seem more rural, but close enough to take a brisk stroll into the village.
Surrounded by so many amazing walks and a short drive from Exmoor and all it’s glory.
The property is approached through exquisite gardens and adjacent to the beautiful main house.
The private, enclosed courtyard is perfect for sunny drinks and al fresco meals - with sufficient shade for the dog. And the scent of that jasmine……..glorious!
A big bonus for us is the enclosed private orchard out at the back, that the dog can run in. It is an amazing space and testament to the hard work that has lovingly been put into it.
The cottage is the perfect mix of period features and modern facilities.
Quirky and cosy in equal measure - light, airy and spacious but SO comfortable. A good night’s sleep is guaranteed and the view from the bedroom window in the morning is spectacular.
A personal welcome from the owner was lovely and his good wishes on departure were very kind.
In short - perfect, peaceful and the most exquisite escape. Definitely not to be missed.
4.9
Coachmans cottage is the perfect holiday cottage, beautiful surroundings, lovely owners, and fantastic location. We would definitely recommend, and the dogs loved it. The honey from owners garden is a must, best we have had !! Piggy in the middle also the best fish and chips well worth a visit.
4.9
Coachman's Cottage more than met our expectations and is surprisingly spacious for two people. It is tastefully decorated and thoughtfully equipped to a high standard, and had everything we needed to help make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The cottage is in a quiet location and is perfectly situated for walking. There are plenty of walks from the door, with the South West Coastal Path and the Coleridge Way both easily accessible.
4.9
Coachman's Cottage was faultless. Bright, warm and cosy, well equipped and beautifully furnished. Excellent location for walking and access to the orchard behind the cottage is simply brilliant. We are looking forward to coming back in the autumn.
4.9
Could not find fault with this lovely cottage, our host was charming and very helpful. We stayed in January and were very cosy and and warm even at minus 3! Panoramic views out to sea and Wales, very quiet with access to the Coleridge Way through the owners orchard, giving access to many walks. Cannot recommend highly enough.
4.9
David and Nikki have a lovely cottage for there guests to stay in, which is very homely affording a home for home feeling ,and are very welcoming .
There is and orchard for the dogs which leads to a path which takes you on a woodland walk to Porlock one way and the other way takes you to Porlock Weir.
Would love to return again.
4.9
David, the host, was extremely friendly and helpful.
The cottage was perfect our dog as it had an enclosed courtyard ( a real suntrap for us) where the dog could runaround and a lovely orchard where she could run. The cottage was nicely furnished and well equipped with some items not expected - dishwasher and washing machine
4.9
Every effort was made to accommodate us during the difficulties posed by the Covid-19 pandemic. We felt like the owners of the property had taken every precaution and really cared about our comfort and safety during this unprecedented time.
Clear information was left for anything that we could possibly think of. It was great to get away, and we had a peaceful relaxing break.
4.9
Excellent cottage in a lovely location for walks. Peaceful with amazing views but close to village amenities.
4.9
Exceptional, what a gem of a find so hard to find a wonderful cottage in a beautiful location. David is a lovely host. Great location for walking.
Any guests thinking about booking please do you will not be disappointed.
We have already booked our next holiday in this wonderful cottage.

Fabulous cottage and location. The owners very friendly and cottage beautifully furnished with every need anticipated! The walks from the doorstep are wonderful. We particularly enjoyed being shown around the garden by Nicky and also learning about the bees. We hope to return again soon.
4.9
Fantastic views and really easy to walk into Porlock. Great cottage and it had everything we needed.
4.9
Great cottage and the views were stunning. Introduction to that coastline for us .We had some lovely walks around Exmoor as well as visits to Dunster, Minehead ,Lynton, Watchet, Steart Marshes and Quantocks. Really recommend the Lynton Cinema, what a great place. Hosts were lovely. Thanks very much.
4.9
It is a lovely cottage, with all the facilities you could want or need. The bed is very comfy and the central heating kept the whole place warm.
On a clear night you can see the Milky Way just by stepping out of the front door, a perfect place to see the stars in a very dark sky.
Lovely countryside all around with walks straight from the cottage and further afield.
4.9
Local walks from the house join coastal paths to Bossingham, Portland and Port Weir. No need to take car out .
Very welcome to make use of flower meadow/paddock to the back of cottage. Benches dotted around enable you to enjoy the fabulous views that surround the cottage.
Tranquil spot to wake up to in the morning and enjoy in the evening.
Plenty of places to visit within a short distance: Doncaster, Lynford and Lynton , West Somerset Steam Railway.
Fabulous area for a holiday Exmoor is breathtakingly beautiful.
4.9
Looking back through previous reviews it seems that there is little new to be said. What we can say is that in 23 years of retirement we have in each year’s holiday plans found a space for a week in a cottage somewhere in the UK so we have seen a few. This year we have been fortunate in finding one that is, in our experience, truly in a class of its own. In whatever the way in which we might wish to measure our satisfaction, be it location, comfort, privacy, access to the beautiful surroundings, quality of fixtures, fittings and accessories, helpfulness and friendliness of our hosts, Nicky and David, value for money, etc, Coachman’s Cottage is a winner.
In all those years we have never returned to one of our cottage destinations, in very few cases due to the condition of the cottage but more because of the desire to move on. This time a desire to return is likely to prove the stronger.
4.9
Lovely cosy cottage. Bright and spacious with views to the sea. Secure orchard for our dog to run in was wonderful and made things very relaxed and easy. Super easy access directly to lovely walks to the village, the sea or up onto the hills. Very helpful but unintrusive host.
4.9
Lovely cottage in a beautiful location. Splendid views from the cottage, and plenty of easily accessible walks through stunning country side. The cottage is made particularly cosy by a wood burning stove in the lounge. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful.
4.9
Lovely cottage with everything you need Perfect for dogs with an enclosed yard and a lovely enclosed orchard where the dog can have a run - access directly to the footpath too.
4.9
Lovely location with incredible views. Comfortable cosy cottage with very helpful friendly owners. Good pubs serving food in walking distance.
4.9
Lovely quiet location with great views with easy access to local shops, pubs etc
And to the Coleridge way, for as much walking as you want,
Beautiful countryside to explore and very welcoming owners
4.9
Lovely warm cottage. Well situated. Plenty of off-road parking. Very quiet.

My girlfriend and I had a lovely stay in David and Nicky's cottage. Lots of love has gone into this place, it's obvious either they've stayed in it themselves or they've listened very closely to feedback. David and Nicky were super nice and made sure we had what we needed. Very clean, incredibly well equipped kitchen, lots of heating options including central, floor in the bathroom and wood burner in the sitting room. Comfy bed with awesome view towards the sea. Well positioned near Porlock which is a nice village (we much preferred to the larger seaside towns) and lots of awesome walks nearby - all the ones in the booklet were great. The nearby area has lots of woodland which we preferred for walking to the other areas of Exmoor (which are still beautiful). Lastly if you don't have a dog (we don't) and aren't dog people (I'm not) then don't worry, there's absolutely no doggie smells and no barking nearby! In fact it's super quiet and we slept with the window open. Highly recommended!
