“Sonoma County may be best known for its wineries and the tony (sic) towns of Healdsburg and Sonoma, but West County, as locals call the area around Sebastopol, is where the vineyards begin to give way to rolling hills, bohemian enclaves and the wild Pacific Coast beyond. Sure, there’s wine produced here — excellent pinots in particular — but there’s plenty to explore beyond it, especially around Sebastopol, where in recent years new restaurants, shops and live music venues have opened, securing the town’s position as West County’s arts and culture hub.”

American as Apple Pie
“‘I’ve been to Napa and Sonoma,’ you hear people say, as if they were one and the same. Sure, Sonoma’s 300-plus wineries, like those of vine-centric Napa, offer peak wine tasting, from Ravenswood’s deep Zinfandels to Gloria Ferrer’s sophisticated sparklers. But if you’ve visited only the county’s wineries, come back to sample the astounding diversity that makes Sonoma one of America’s travel treasures.
Spend some time floating in an inner tube down the Russian River and walking amid ancient giants—one over 1,400 years old—at Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve. Poke around the old Russian stockade at Fort Ross, which turns 200 in 2012, or the Spanish adobe mission, San Francisco Solano, in Sonoma town. Hunt for antiques along Petaluma’s downtown Victorian row, and dine on seasonal sake-steamed, aged abalone at Michelin-starred Cyrus in Healdsburg. And don’t miss a flaky, fruit-packed slice of Gravenstein pie from Mom’s Apple Pie, a roadside stop outside Sebastopol. It ranks up there with a Russian River Valley Pinot Noir as a real taste of Sonoma.”

A group of 8 crotchety old men were well pleased with the accommodations and amenities provided at the Wineberry Lodge for our bachelor-party/weekend. Heidi, the host, was communicative, very helpful, and all-around excellent. Highly recommended for a large group of adults, such as ours, family gatherings, or trips shared between two to three couples.

We booked the Wineberry Lodge to celebrate 2 friends’ 50th birthdays for a 4-day getaway to wine country in Napa and were pleasantly surprised at the luxurious accommodations. We had 2 couples + a dear friend in our party and had plenty of room for our stay. This home was tastefully decorated, very comfortable and well-stocked in every way to meet our expectations. The outdoor kitchen became our evening gathering place as it had spacious seating and large countertops. Despite traveling in the wintertime, which was very rainy, we found the outdoor heaters and pulled them in close to stay warm. The hot tub was a bonus and we took advantage as it was kept hot and ready for use. The indoors was clean in every room and the living room had comfortable furniture for our morning coffee conversations. Modern, updated bathroom facilities was a nice touch and we found everything we needed for cooking meals including nice flatware, silverware and plentiful wine glasses! Heidi was a gracious host, providing a couple bottles of local wine to get us started and fresh fruit. There was even a neat container in the fridge with coffee beans to grind and a grinder conveniently located by the coffee station. We loved the horse and stagecoach out front and the calming stream in the backyard, all adding to our luxurious stay. The location was great and we used it as our launch point to wineries in Napa, shopping in Sebastopol and Calistoga plus the Armstrong Redwood preserve for sightsee

Check in, communication throughout our stay, the house were all excellent!
There were only 4 adults so the house was plenty big. The outdoor kitchen was perfect, we cooked outside two nights with no issues. Heidi gave us a pizza oven lesson and guided us on where to get the dough.
There are several wineries close by and about 45 minutes to either Napa or Sonoma, which is a scenic drive that goes by quickly. The house location is within 5 minutes of groceries and restaurants
There are no insane checkout rules, just start the dishwasher and leave!
Loved our visit!

The Lodge was just right for our needs (two young couples, and their dad and uncle). Plenty of space, great kitchen and TV room, comfy beds, clean-working bathrooms, and easy laundry facilities. Location cannot be beat (next door to Merry Edwards; central to northern Sonoma and Armstrong State Park). Pizza-Patio is the best; we had 6 other family members come by to make pizza - amazing memories. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Lodge was beautiful and so well equipped. Everything you could need was there. Our family pizza making day was a memory I will treasure. Conversations in the hot tub while sipping wine was wonderful. This is a place to slow down and renew with the family. Thanks, Heidi

This house was beautiful, and comfortable, and fun. Bedrooms were comfortable, upstairs loft rooms especially so.
The kitchen was very well equipped and easy for group food prep. Some complementary wine and fresh fruit made it even more special.
The outside kitchen and pizza oven were our favorite. We had a wonderful evening tossing pizza crusts and trying new topping combinations.
We enjoyed being so close to markets, good restaurants, and wineries. We definitely want to come back to try some more.

Best house for entertaining.

My friends and I (six women over 40) had a girls' weekend, and Wineberry was perfect. The house was comfortable and adorable, and it had one of the best equipped kitchens I've ever seen. The outdoor space was great too, with an outdoor bar/kitchen and hot tub. The location was convenient - close driving distance to grocery markets and walking distance to a couple small wineries. Heidi was so friendly, helpful, and communicative. (Sidenote: Impressively, she built a bunch of the furniture and fixtures there!) This house would have been great for one or two families too. My only complaint is that our respective schedules didn't let us book the place for a longer period ;) I'd be interested in returning!

This house was perfect for us! Plenty of beds and places to sleep. The living areas and kitchen were spacious enough for a group, but we spent most of our time outside! The outdoor space was our favorite part! I highly recommend this property, especially for a big group! We will definitely be back!

Everything was amazing. Heidi went above and beyond with decorations, wine and other goodies for our group. House is well supplied and pizza oven was fantastic.

The home and everything around it are so highly maintained! The rooms, kitchen, outdoors, and garage are spacious and comfy. You can love sports, hot tubs, or curling up on the couch with a good book and you’ll never want to leave! My group was 6 guests but we could have easily had our partners there and still would have had plenty of room. It’s near beautiful wineries and an easy drive to the Barlow downtown space. I would recommend this space to friend groups or families!

We were in the area for a nearby wedding for the weekend. The home was well stocked with necessary items and very clean. The owners live next door and were very responsive. We hosted a lunch party for several wedding goers on Saturday and were able to use the amazing outdoor kitchen with a wood fired pizza oven. We had this catered, but one of the owners came over to help set it all up and assist with the nuances of pizza crust making. Highly recommended. Wish we could have stayed much longer! The home is essentially in the middle of vineyards.

8 of us stayed here for our annual golf getaway and it did not disappoint. The property was immaculate, the house was better than advertised. Super clean, every amenity you could want and a great place to unwind after playing 18 with the boys. Heidi was an amazing host and communication, check in/out was a breeze. We will definitely come back again!

We got married at the Barlow and hosted ourselves and our wedding party & +1s at this place for the weekend. It was a beautiful, extremely well thought out property ready to host groups of people. We enjoyed making pizzas, the hot tub after sunset, and the friendly neighbor outdoor cat who came by for pets. The kitchen is fully stocked with anything you could imagine. We did hair and makeup for the wedding in the upstairs loft. Highly recommend!

We have been staying at VRBO properties for many years. I have to say that Wineberry Lodge is an extraordinary property. The outdoors (view of vineyard, outdoor kitchen, stream, nature) is perfection. And Heidi and Brent go out of their way to welcome you with fresh fruit, local wine and coffee. The house is immaculate, the beds were cozy, the kitchen is super well stocked, extra linens… it is truly top notch. We were in town for our son’s wedding, and he and his fiancé rented BlackBerry Cottage on the same property which was a huge plus for us.
With that said, we had one issue - which we suspected would be an issue when we were instructed by the owner to shower in the outdoor shower with provided soap before entering the hot tub before each use. We all shower every day anyway and we had never been told that before at any property, nor is that necessary in our own, well-used hot tub at home, so it was a red flag. Most of us used the hot tub at one time or another in the evenings and were given no chemicals to sprinkle in after use. If you put the filter on high, suds would fill the tub. Something wasn’t right. The filter clearly was not up to snuff and the cloudy hot tub charge is $400, which is exorbitant (check the contract, you will be charged this amount).
With that said, we LOVED the property (including having the use of a hot tub) but it’s important that these reviews are honest. So, with that one caveat, I highly recommend this property.

Wineberry Lodge was the perfect place for our family gathering. It was exactly as the description said and Heidi and Brent are terrific hosts. Nice little extra touches made us feel so welcome. The outside kitchen and bar/eating area was fabulous and we had so much fun making pizza in the pizza oven. We’ll be back and highly recommend this to idyllic spot!

Everything was beyond perfect! The house and outdoor space were even more spacious than the photos could show, the host was accommodating and exceptionally welcoming and thoughtful! All of the amenites worked without any issues and the beds were really comfortable. I was blown away by the quality of our experience.

Wineberry Stay
Heidi was an extremely gracious hostess and communications and instructions on use of the beautiful outdoor kitchen was fantastic. We enjoyed trying out the pizza oven and were grateful that Heidi said we might need to do a trial pizza, just in case. Indoor and outdoor kitchen areas had everything needed. We had plenty of space as we did not have as many guests due to Covid (sadly). Kids (at heart) LOVED the ping pong table and we were too busy with a local wedding to enjoy all the other games available. Hot tub was perfect for my folks that liked a hot soak.
We had a GREAT TIME!

A wonderful property
This home was perfect for our family attending a wedding in wine country. It was spacious with 5 bedrooms and appealed to all three generations staying there. The home was so well appointed with everything one would need. We were greeted with complimentary fresh fruit, wine, coffee and bottled water.
There was an extensive notebook with ideas of places to go and things to do. The outdoor garden/ patio was also immaculate with beautiful blossoms everywhere. There was a pizza oven, BBQ, oven and eating bar. We were given a very thorough lesson on the pizza oven and we all had fun with our individual creations. There was a hot tub we all dipped into at some point in the stay. Thank you, Heidi, and Nick, for everything! Our only regret is that we were not able to spend more time at the home.

Girls' Weekend
We were very impressed with Wineberry lodge! It was the perfect place to host a girls' weekend. We felt very welcomed by the host who even included some personalized welcome gifts upon arrival. The 7 of us had plenty of room to spread out in the house, and the property felt very private. We used the outdoor kitchen both nights and used the pizza oven to make amazing pizzas. We followed the host's recommendation to buy pizza dough at Nightingale Breads and it was delicious. The pizza oven does take some time to heat up after you start the fire, but it was the perfect ambiance to drink some wine and prep the dough/ingredients so we didn't mind. Overall, using the pizza oven was way easier than expected. I really appreciated that the kitchen was stocked with things like olive oil, spices, and flour. We also enjoyed the jacuzzi, as well as the cozy bathrobes provided. The garage is fully stocked with ping pong, darts, and lawn games, so we never ran out of things to do. Many wineries are nearby- not many were open to large groups like ours (maybe just a covid thing?), but we found some that were (Bowman Cellars and Russian River Vineyards). There were ubers/lyfts available, but they were somewhat few and far between so I recommend allowing extra time if you plan to use these services. Wineberry lodge is a beautiful home in a prime location- we had a perfect weekend!

Fabulous family trip for Easter
We had a fabulous family trip for 4 nights over Easter weekend. It was very convenient to be able to have family stay right next door in 2 bedroom rental. The property was gorgeous with a view of a winery and huge outdoor kitchen ! The wood burning pizza oven was a huge hit with our family gathering of 10 one evening . Plenty of outdoor activities are available and lots of seating . This house is very well stocked, the owner was very helpful and accessible even helping us on Easter morning when we found we had a flat tire on our rent car.
Highly recommend

Wineberry Lodge is one of the few VRBO properties we've stayed at that exceeds our expectations. Heidi was a wonderful host. Heidi has spared no expense to make the home a cozy place to stay. Every room has special touches and wonderful decor. The kitchen is better stocked than my own kitchen at home, so if you plan to cook, you'll find whatever you need. We were greeted with a bowl of fruit and a couple bottles of wine upon our arrival. Heidi provides special touches like plug ins for your phone next to every bed and special markers to write on your wine glasses. There were plenty of games and cozy nooks throughout the house. We enjoyed the outdoor kitchen, hot tub and lawn area a great deal. We had a wonderful weekend!
