a special Mention to Arturo the Hotel Manager who did everything to make our stay unique and memorable.
Pratiquement rien, a bit on the pricey side for food and drinks and no fridge in the room so no possibility to keep things fresh but other than that amazing. Be warned the hotel is a 20 / 25 min drive from tulum center a bit further for the beach BUT the hotel has everything you need to not need ot head there and is really well located for a lot of Cenote visits.

This property is a few miles outside of Tulum away from the hustle and bustle and major touristy areas. It’s peaceful with a beautiful sandy beach that’s never crowded. Lounge chairs and umbrellas are provided by the hotel at no extra charge and the beach is meticulously raked every morning. There are corals and some rocks at the water’s edge but the dock gives you easy access to the turquoise waters for swimming and snorkeling. Paddle boards and kayaks are also available for free. The staff are exceptional. You arrive as strangers and part as friends. The restaurant serves delicious meals and the service is attentive and personable. There’s also a security post down the street so we always felt safe. A car is recommended. Casa Altamar is a very special special little hotel with a big heart.

Staff and clean room. Housekeeping crew was excellent.
I noticed so much trash on the road between the highway and the property. It’s not the property’s fault but I wish it was cleaned.
Room #8 has partial ocean view, not full view. It was misleading during the booking (but we were ok with this).
No fridge, coffee/tea station, phone in the room; food in Tulúm is expensive (NYC price). It would have been perfect if I could put some fruits and leftovers in a fridge. The hotel restaurant opened at 9:30am during my stay so a coffee station would have been great for someone like me who wakes up with the sunrise. I wish the restaurant provided smaller breakfast menu as well.

We really enjoyed our relaxing stay Casa Altamar. The checking was easy and the staff are all very friendly. We enjoyed the quiet location right on the beach.

The staff were amazing! It’s a lovely small boutique hotel so you really feel the personal touch in their service. The food was absolutely delicious with so much attention to detail and excellent presentation. The location is great, close enough to the town and all the activities but perfect if you’re looking for a more relaxed quiet atmosphere. Also the vibes and aesthetic of the hotel are amazing, and everything was very clean and well maintained.
The beach is rocky but it was still beautiful

cercavamo una struttura sul mare, piccola, accogliente e lontana da una Tulum affollata. il soggiorno è stato bellissimo, è davvero un paradiso di relax e pace! staff eccezionale, tutti davvero gentili e mai invadenti.

- The facilities are very good, large spaces, the restaurant is very good and authentic.
- I had a few issues, but they know how to listen to customers, and the people who work there were very nice.
- I can recommend this place without problem, my girlfriend had a massage, and she told me that it has been one of the best she has ever had.
- We took the room facing the sea, and we had a magnificent view from the room.
- the equipment to be able to go to the sea such as the kayak are free for clients
there is not really a reception, and in fact after 10 at night there is no one who can help you in case of any problem (it was my case the first day)

Casa Altamar was absolutely a wonderful surprise. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, going out of their way when we had any problem. The location is wonderful, your own private little paradise away from the crowds, yet close enough to pop into town for dinner. We really enjoyed our stay... with a special thankyou to Arturo.
nothing really... perhaps a small mini store for items like water or snacks could be useful?

A nice property to be away from overly touristy Tulum, on a nice pretty private beach with access to the water via a dock and paddle boards, kayaks, etc. nice staff too.
The restaurant offerings are at absolutely unreasonable prices that are a complete rip off. As it’s slightly out of town, this limits food options completely. Disappointing.

We have stayed at Casa Altamar and absolutely loved it. The privacy, the wonderful and friendly staff, the food and the great location directly at the beach.
Be aware that the hotel is not directly nearby a city and the road to get there is a bumpy.

Staff paid excellent detail to everything. You truly get the 5 star experience here. This was quiet luxury at its finest.

The hotel and views were beautiful. There were only 11 rooms so it was very quiet and intimate. Every room has a view of the ocean from the balcony and were very spacious. Since it was so intimate, the staff knew you by first name. They were all so kind and helpful; the service and food was amazing. I highly recommend and would definitely return!
Booking.com stated there was one king-sized bed for out booking but when I received the confirmation it stated it was a superior twin room so we unfortunately ended up with two double beds.

beautiful location. pool with view of the ocean. fantastic staff

You could have a quiet night here and there is no need of an air conditioning or a fan, the night breeze is good enough.
At breakfast you are served a good bowl of fruit, granola, toast juice and coffee.
The restaurant serves beautiful food but double expensive compared to other restaurants. Somehow I lacked the simpler taste.
At breakfast you could offer some eggs. I am not complaining as for me fruit is best but it is not a cheap place and it seemed strange not to have such an option.
Water access is rocky which I was aware of beforehand.

My stay at Casa Altamar was absolutely incredible and far exceeded all of my expectations! The little boutique hotel is an absolute gem. It is tucked away a few miles from town on a beautiful white sand beach that is stunning. The food and the drinks -- my god were they divine. All of the ingredients are local and fresh and and every meal is a masterpiece. It's clear from the taste and the presentation that the chef has a passion for what he does and it comes across in the food, which looks like a piece of art when it comes out on your plate. Additionally, all the liquor and all the wine is local from Mexico and from small distributors that change constantly. I had no idea such delicious wine came from Mexico and was obsessed with several of the bottles we had. So much so that I took pictures of them to find for myself later. However, what made my stay above and beyond was the staff. Hands down. Arturo, Arvin, Alfonso, Eric, Javier, Pedro and everyone else treated us like family. Everyone was so kind, so welcoming and truly made my stay a joy. It would not have been the same experience without them. From the staff, to the location, to the rooms, everything was indescribably incredible. I'm already planning my trip back and cannot wait to return!

lovely property sitting on the beach, really relaxing vibe and the staff are awesome! super friendly and will go out of their way to accommodate you. feels like staying in a big house.
it’s distance from tulum town and the main swimming beaches is quite far, so would recommend renting a car if you stay. we knew this beforehand so no issue for us.

Amazing food and staff. In front of the beach and near many attractions.

beautifully located little boutique hotel with the friendliest team you can imagine that tries that make your vacation the best they can. the ocean in front is full of fish and can be explored. the food in the restaurant has an excellent quality.
the beach is unfortunately rocky and can only be entered using the pier. the kitchen - while excellent - becomes a bit boring after a week or so as the menu never changes. the area is quiet but also isolated, so nothing else is in walking distance and taking a cab from the taxi cartel to town is 25€ each way - a rip off in Mexico, but a non negotiable one. the WiFi in the hotel is stable but the actual internet speed is atrocious and it is impossible to work from here unless you bring your own Telcel hotspot.

Excellent personalized services by all members of the staff team. Beautiful ocean view. Peaceful atmosphere. Refreshingly unique kitchen with cozy curative home made teas. Chill ambience and relaxing music. Amazing massage services.

The staff at Casa Altamar were so, so friendly and they took such great care of us. The food was exceptional, the beds were really comfy, and the room was simple but lovely.
It was a little further from Tulum town than we realized and the beach was pretty rocky.

Rooms were clean and well maintained, comfy beeds and bedsheets, location on the beach. Staff was super friedly and helpful. Food in the restaurant was very tasty and fresh.
The hotel is far away from the town and nice beaches. You have to have a car to see or do anything.
The road that leads to the hotel is in very bad shape. No fridge or tv in the room.
The hotel beach is nice, but the see is not accesible from it - there is a reef and a lot of rocks there. Even if you use the pier, it's still not very easy to get a swim - so if you like to read a book on a beach, it's a hotel for you. But if you like to swim and play in the water, then it will be hard for you.

Casa Altamar is a wonderful place. If you’re looking for a clean and beautiful hotel outside of the hustle and bustle of Tulum, this is the place for you. The staff is incredibly welcoming, helpful and friendly and the view is absolutely breathtaking. The food is very good. The road to the hotel is a bit bumpy at times but otherwise everything is perfect - cannot recommend this place enough. Hopefully we’ll be back soon :)

Very nice room design, beautiful view, comfortable bed. Excellent breakfast, they arranged gluten free for me. Other food for dinner and great cocktails are also very tasty. The staff is very helpful, courteous, quick to respond and friendly.
In our room, we could hear a pipe and the flow of water or similar quite loudly.
