The hotel is amazing. Beautiful lobby with stain glass windows. Quiet rooms. The neighborhood is very walkable. Restaurants, bars, live music, shops and galleries close by. Staff were very friendly and easily accessible.
4.7
Great location and nice decoration.
The “Hotel” is completely overpriced. Other than the interesting part that you stay in a wonderful decorated church in a good neighborhood , there is nothing else to it. I would call it an upgraded hostel stay without the fun of the socialization you have normally in a hostel. Or a very expensive airbnb.
There was no one on the premises other than the guests and the cleaning woman. It’s somewhat creepy—if you have a question or a problem send a text to an anonymous mailbox and you get a reply without any name attached like a voice in a horror movie. Is it a chatbot, a group mailbox, or?
There is no housekeeping at all through your stay, even if the rooms cost more than $500 per night. And in most rooms you don’t have any windows you can look out which gives you a very claustrophobic feeling. But you can look into the lobby which is (night and day) extremely brightly lit and plays loud music all the time (it’s turned down between 10pm and 8am). Unfortunately, if it’s not your favorite music, there is no escape, as it drones into your room. To be fair, the management provides ample earplugs and eye covers for your protection.
The hotel is owned by a real estate management company which claims to give a huge amount of its profits but nowhere it tells you how much or what percentage—only how many showers and beds you generate for the homeless per stay. If you have any complaints the answer seems to be that you should feel good since your stay provides showers and beds to the homeless. They even hang a sign on the outside door proclaiming that they are generous citizens and a credit to their community, but still no specifics on their actions. Long live noblesse oblige!

Beautiful ambience, clean, comfortable
Amazing facilities but hoped that the recording booth was soundproof- loud music played right outside the window came right through which meant I could not record in there

Good for the price and it was clean

The staff was incredibly helpful, gracious, and present. They responded immediately to every question I texted.
The room was very small. Given the cost of a stay there, I expected larger accommodations. Additionally, the room's description mentioned a sky light, an essential feature given that it had no windows. However, the sky light did not open to the sky. Instead, it was just a glassed in hole in the room ceiling that showed the hotel's ceiling.

Very efficient. Clean. Unique. Excellent location.
No complainants.

It’s in a great location in Nashville and it’s cool what they did converting a church into a hotel. I did not know how I would feel about it not having an actual staff, but I did not mind it at all.

The design and playful connection to the musical roots of Nashville. Very thoughtful delivery of all you need. Very clean and great location.

The hotel is lovely. It's modern yet comfortable. The room is very well decorated. LOVED the shower. Also the room comes with complimentary snacks from local producers. That was a nice touch. Also they use a Dyson hair dryer which is TOP NOTCH.
The toilet area is separated, which is good, but there's no AC or fan in that part of the bathroom.

The Russell Nashville is an extraordinary boutique hotel experience! I was only in town for one night, and exhausted by the time I arrived at the hotel after an event. My room was quiet, impeccably clean, sublimely comfortable, and gorgeous. I appreciated the thoughtful touches (tasty snacks and bottled water). The only thing that would have made it more perfect would have been a huge bathtub. That said, the shower was enormous. I felt good that part of my room rate helped homeless charities in the area, and I hope to stay at The Russell again soon.
No bathtub

The church is beautiful and the design of The Russell accentuates it. The rooms are full of character. The neighborhood surrounding the hotel is beautiful and safe. It’s is a short Uber ride to downtown. The bed was very comfortable!
Nothing. We loved it!

The place is extremely style stylish and yet very casual and not pretentious. I liked everything about it!
nothing to dislike

I enjoyed the non formal check in process, the style of the property, and the location.
The only thing I can think of is that it was a bit noisy in the morning with people checking out, but it is expected in an older building and didn’t bother us much.

The decor was awesome, the beds were very comfortable, the room was very cute. The coffee downstairs was awesome!
The batteries in the remote were dead and we couldn't watch TV. The door to the bathroom came off the track and we couldn't get it back on so it wasn't comfortable to try and get in and out.

The view and the style of the church was beautiful. I loved the Lobby and cleanliness. surroundings outside felt safe.
I don’t have any complaints.

Unique, welcoming. Fun yet sophisticated. We loved the Colts chocolate waiting for us in the room. Coffee station was excellent. Books in the lobby were great for browsing. Parking was simple and close by. Location was brilliant for a quick drive into Nashville Broadway area. TV options available were astounding!
The linen for the sofa bed was tucked away in a cupboard and we had to make up the bed for our booked number of guests. Every other detail was so perfectly communicated but we would have liked some clear instructions regarding this. Only one small hitch because everything else was seamless and excellent.

Everything about this place was awesome. The set up, not having to check in and out at a desk, or deal with waiting around in a lobby. Literally everything is sent right to your phone. The place itself is so cool and they were more than accomodating.

If I'm being completely honest, this property might rank at the top of any place I've stayed before and I travel A LOT! There was just something about it that was so cozy, welcoming, and just overall amazing! I was initially concerned about the idea of there being no staff on the property, but it's just like an Air BnB vibe and was perfect. A staff member was always just a quick text away and we felt very well taken care of. The location was excellent without being right in the heart of downtown Nashville and the area was so quaint and quiet. I had read reviews that said you could hear every noise inside the rooms but we found that not to be true or a problem at all. It was very quiet inside and outside of the property and we slept great. The beds were 10/10, the absolute BEST I have ever slept in. I'm literally researching them to get one for myself, haha! The property is gorgeous and very well-kept. The snacks and treats in the room were also a nice touch. We literally did not want to leave. It's also amazing to know you are helping those in need by staying here. The Russell, you are doing some incredible work. Thanks for such a great stay and we look forward to staying again in the future as well as recommending you to anyone we know that visits Nashville!
While our stay was beyond incredible, I offer two things. First, the shower head did not have great pressure. I find this very typical of most hotels and things and I just wish it were different. We still showered fine and their showers are so cute but it would be nice to have a little more pressure, especially for those of us with thick hair. Second, I am a stickler for cleanliness and while it wasn't a dealbreaker or anything for us, we felt more attention could be given to vacuuming/cleaning around the edges of the room/behind the beds or where there are cracks. There was quite a bit of dust built up and we did find ourselves sneezing a little more than usual. However, that will not discredit our stay or keep us from coming back. I mean it, if you want an amazing property in Nashville, this is the place!
