An excellent hotel with friendly staff and a great breakfast!
The hotel looks a little dated from the outside but inside it is a different story. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. The room was clean and the bed comfy. There was a great selection for breakfast and we had absolutely no complaints.

Some small issues with the room
4.0
We stayed for one night. We paid a reasonable price of £78 without breakfast. The room was a good size with a firm comfy bed. Good quality bedding and towels. Blackout curtains. Had a great nights sleep. Super friendly and helpful staff from the housekeeping to front desk. 6 minutes drive from Trentham Gardens(pics attached). Corridors were light and clean.
We would stay again.
Not a dislike for us but it could be for some. We stayed in room 140. It was a very long way away from the reception area. It may be worth asking for a room close to reception if needed.
The room next door to ours had an unattended dog left in it which was constantly barking. On the plus side the reception staff dealt with this immediately. My suggestion is to maybe separate the hotel rooms that you allocate to dog friendly guests away from those without dogs.

Ollie on the front desk when we checked in was excellent. Breakfast was good and breakfast staff were attentive. Room was simple but perfectly fine!
Only thing was that the TV signal was bad, but that's not what we were there for so it's no biggie.

Room was clean
Ordered food and it was horrible as we sat down to order we was told not to bother by other guests as they have been waiting over an hour and when there food came it was all wrong our food was terrible and our burger buns were solid we couldn’t finish the meals as it was so bad. On checking out I handed my card back in and wasn’t even asked how the stay was and if everything was ok I just had a thanks and she turned around terrible customer service
3.0
Food was good value for money and large portions, quick service and more than happy with what was presented. Breakfast options plentiful and again more that happy. Swimming pool was an added bonus that we enjoyed after day driving. Bed very comfortable and room ample in size.
Could be cleaner is being picky, webs etc around window in dining area. toilets in pool changing area we well overdue a cyclic clean. Telephone in room wasn't connected to any wall socket and headset not connected to the telephone which was quite random.

I dont like anything because this was my worst experience thann ever witha such big chain as there was no air condition in working condition when outside temperature was 27 in uk. And upon asking the Manager told me he cannot do anything , i should have to sleep with opening a window. The question is then we are paying so much for such a third class service hotel.
Holiday inn is a big chain but this branch is worst than all. Management should have take notice but worst experience overall.

Gym and pool facilities. Perfect location for motorway. Breakfast good too
No hot water for shower in morning and very noisy when shower was working.
1.5
The bed.
The room had a “tired” appearance with ill fitting cupboard doors, poor quality finishes on skirting boards and dirt on painted wall surfaces. The bathroom door needed oiling and the sink plug was ineffective when the basin was filled with water. The room needed to be refurbished. Not what you would expect from a Holiday Inn hotel.

access
the bathroom door would not close , spoke to reception three times but no response

Bit tired but it is in process of updating

Pool was nice and warm and really quiet when we went. Gym looked nice.
Pillows good
Shower was warm
2 good size beds in the twin style room - could be comfier - it isn't premier inn quality mattresses!
Hot tub was closed in pool area (think this is just temporary)
Sheets a little bit scratchy, but clean.
Breakfast was not good - £16 per person for bacon you could snap, eggs looked sketchy, pancakes had gone hard around the edges, juice was more like squash than fresh juice. Wasn't that warm - possibly just been unlucky. Waited 7 mins at the please wait here board and eventually just walked in and told one of the staff who were wandering around our room number - who didn't come and seat us. I think if we had breakfast elsewhere I would have had literally no real issues with the hotel.

Food in the restaurant was OK.
There was a broken radiator in my room, loud humming noise all night. I struggled to sleep. I complained, the staff said nothing can be done (even though they didn't come and check the room), then gave me 50% refund straight away - I'm pretty sure they knew about this issue before I reported it, so beware! They may dump you in a room with a problem. Also, the swimming pool changing facilities are closed at the moment, you kind of need to wing it if you want to use the pool (the staff don't care how you get on).

The staff were very welcoming and the breakfast was good in the morning. I liked the brand of toiletries in the bathroom too.
Some aspects of the room felt a little tired, but it was very clean

Pool was great
Interior by our room wasn’t great, tv didn’t work and room just very dated and needs doing up

Room was fairly standard but breakfast was especially good. Restaurant and bar was fine and the chap on the front desk when we checked in was excellent.
Nothing specifically that I didn't like other than perhaps the very long walk through the building to our room. It probably wasn't but it felt like miles with lots of twists and turns.

The hotel was very clean the staff were polite I messed up the booking by not stating my partner was disabled in walking to far the lady who served us gave us our room number and we proceeded not knowing it was at the other end of the hotel when got there my partner was scattered and in pain so I went back to reception were a young gentleman was there were he gave us a room near to the entrance straight away so please state when booking a room if any disability’s other than that excellent stay.

Chose for the location for a work Xmas party elsewhere, east access off the M6
The charge for breakfast which is why we didn’t have it. £16.95 is a bit steep

Room and restaurant were nice. Location was great.
Room service didn’t seem to be an option?! No one answered the phone and no menu or app to scan in the room.
