The food and wine were excellent. We ate in the Mess Call and the Gallery, both of which were as we had hoped. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We had three rooms, all of which were clean and comfortable. An excellent stay.
The lighting in the main lounge area is rather bright. A lower ambient level with some reading lamps would be better.

Traditional old building, lovely lounge areas, stunning breakfast room.
Very hot room and on street front so noisy with windows open

Lovely spa facilities and all staff delightful and helpful
Fresh rather than concentrate orange juice at breakfast . Mentioned to a duty manager who happened to be around who said it would be sorted out next morning , unfortunately we were only staying 1 night so didn’t experience the fresh orange juice !

Breakfast was good. Location was excellent. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
I felt the evening meal in the Gallery restaurant was a bit overpriced for what we received.
£18 for a scallops starter was too much, considering they were queen scallops.

Traditional hotel in the best style. Attention to detail, historic buildings, polite, professional staff. Lovely garden area and spa. All well maintained and spotlessly clean.

Food was excellent both quality and quantity, albeit the dinner menu was perhaps a little limited. Again breakfast was plentiful and good quality. The room was adequate - limited in size due to the nature of the building but adequate. The bed was a standard double but comfortable.
The bedroom was a little tired - the curtains were hanging off at one end, and the room didn't look like it had been decorated for some time. The bath had some cracks in the enamel which were going rusty and the grout in the tiles around the bath was black in some places.

Beautiful hotel. friendly staff, lovely breakfast.
only issue we had was woken up with beer barrels being delivered. It was very noisy and early. The staff were very apologetic and said they shouldn’t have been delivered that early.

Breakfast was good and staff attentive and helpful. The dining room was really interesting with a gallery. It was light and airy and a pleasant experience. The post with the key pad to enter the car park had been hit and you had to exit the car to operate it. It needs fixing
The post holding the key pad for the car park barrier had been hit and needs to be repositioned.

A wonderful very old hotel (building) with plenty of history. A rabbit warren of a place with nooks an crannies.
Lovely room but I guess we paid for that!
Limited menu for dinner but so we’ll cooked.
Plenty of parking. Right in town.
Had difficulty getting room temperature right (too hot).
Dessert was poor compared with rest of meal.

evening meal wasn’t amazing , attention to detail and some basics missing . possibly due to wedding party in main restaurant

The bar service was very good, thanks Alex. Breakfast was also very good, and the service received. Room was nice and big, but very costly for price charged, stayed in cheaper hotels with better room quality, on the Saturday we had a party below us which spoilt the ambience of the room, thankfully the guests left before 23:00hrs. We just switched the tele up to mask the sound. The venue is very beautiful and unique, but just doesn't quite meet expectations based on the price charged. The venue is based in Lavenham which is a beautiful village, so the location is great, food and drinks are on the expensive side, there are alternative places to eat, but book first. What we liked - staff in bar and at breakfast, the reception staff seemed rather out of their depth due to age and experience.
We were staying at the hotel with friends, who were asked to move room on our second day, which caused all sorts of issues, mainly we had to change our plans for the Saturday. Initially our friends’ complaints were left with inexperienced reception staff. Eventually the shift manager stepped in and professionally took control. However as stated this was after we had made different arrangements for the Saturday. The Spa area is ok but is very limited and does not have a swimming pool, the area was clean, please check opening and closing times as again these are limited. I arrived after 17.00 hrs and the reception staff seemed unimpressed, I wasn't given a tour of the spa and wasn't shown how to use the Jacuzzi. As stated above, we had a party below us which spoilt the ambience of our bedroom. In addition, we didn't receive and e-mail about where to park, which would have been helpful. We did pass on the above comments to the reception staff as we left.

We loved the fact that the hotel was in a mediaeval building and were happy to forgive the cramped nature of the room and bathroom because of that. The public areas were confortable and pleasant, and the breakfast; prompt, well served and tasty. We liked the outside seating area for drinks before dinner
The food for a "gastronomic" restaurant was ordinary and very small portions and the staff, apart from those in the morning, were untrained, unfriendly and uninterested. The bathroom was very cramped but, as advised above, that was probably due to the age of the hotel

Breakfast was adequate,
Hotel is in a good location
Staff at breakfast could have been more attentive, I had to wait 10 minutes before someone took my order.
The toiletries in the bathroom could have been easier to access.
4.0
The quirky building, the variety of seating areas, general friendliness and helpfulness.
Breakfast was good, but the dinner menu was rather bizarre and I considered it quite expensive for what it was. The waiting staff were excellent though.

Hotel was very clean and staff very friendly
The spa was shut and the rooms were very hot!! There was a small fan but it blew hot air.
