Nothing it was great. I do not understand why the hotel was cashless. Cash is still currency in the UK !

Beautiful location and building, a great place to get away and forget about the rest of the world. Beds very comfortable, rooms had everything you needed - tea/coffee/hot chocolate, bottled water, TV, towels, robes, and a clean, decent, bathroom. WiFi included for all guests. Every single member of staff was friendly and approachable, they really looked after us.

Decor and room and restaurant and great staff

The room was lovely, bed comfortable. Communal areas were very pleasant as well. Gardens looked worth a walk in, but it was raining during our stay. Most people staying were 'of a certain age' which suited us.
The bedroom walls were rather thin and we could hear the people next door talking, although not well enough to hear what they were saying.

Stunning building. Looks lovely outside with wonderful period features inside. Restaurant very good!
Surprised that a double bedroom would have a 4ft6 inch bed 5ft is the normal now.
Tiny ensuite. Not an inch between shower, toilet and basin, the door almost hit the basin and no towel rail.

Beautiful building and gardens

The staff were wonderful, friendly and welcoming. We had dinner and breakfast and both were excellent. The ambience in the main building was really lovely and the grounds gorgeous. The spa was a lovely addition to our trip.
We weren't in the main hotel which we didn't realise and the courtyard room lacked some of the feeling of the main hotel. It was very clean and very comfortable but just some little things which maybe need attention (really little - such as no hook on back of bathroom door to hang robe on and the shower was a very weak flow). It certainly didn't mar our experience and we would definitely go again.

Beautiful old building with plenty of space around it. Some gorgeous old features which i am sure are full of interesting history. Many of the staff were friendly and doing their best- some clearly very new but trying hard to do a good job.
lovely outdoor sitting area.
size of room generous
peacful location and surroundings
They need to give this gorgeous old building some love and shine up some of the internal features.
Carpets are threadbare and dangerous for trips in places. Old features do not need to dull, fading and stained.
The furniture in my room was old (which is nice) but not in good condition and one chair was very dirty with stains (might have just been my room ). Just tired and lack lustre with no real love - might have just been my room. lighting terrible.
They need to change menu a little more often - staying for 3 nights it got boring (while cooked well it did not change one bit over three days) - for the price of the room etc and meal I would think a bit more variety would add value.
Garden needs some love - very unkept in place (not wilding unkept just neglected borders).
too many rules that you only find out about at the time you need something. e.g breakfast - can only get cooked breakfast half an hour after the breakfast session starts (after7.30): can only get afternoon tea if you order 48 hrs in advance - not that any room information tells you that.

Fantastic historical building and grounds
Should be an adult only spa

Breakfast was included and was excellent. There was a good selection of cereals, fruit, fruit juices and yoghurt. Also an excellent choice of cooked food. All nicely presented.
The room was spacious, clean and the bed was very comfortable.
It was very pleasant to sit and relax in the lovely hotel gardens.
We didn't like the soap dispensers in the bathroom that were fixed to the wall. They were over the basin and shower but as the bathroom was very large these were too far away from the bath.

No tea or coffee making facilities in the room .
Cleaning staff woke me up chatting outside my room number 3 .
Carpet was tired and not clean .
Reception staff didn’t ask if I enjoyed my stay, weren’t friendly and made mistakes on the bill.

Loved my cooked breakfast - avocado with pouches eggs, the only downside was there were no pastries left as we came for breakfast quite late.
But overall would love to go back again, really enjoyed the stay.

Staff service for bar, meals and pool were just fine and friendly 🙂.
The quality of food was good.
Like the decor of the main building interior
We have a small dog, and paid extra for that, but got the impression that we were allocated a 2nd rate room because we had a dog, even though we’d paid extra.

Afternoon Tea and evening meal was excellent.
The jacuzzi was out of order. Closed for clening but it looked closed for some time. Not a major issue but would have been nice to have.

Great food, very friendly and helpful staff, beautiful surroundings and building, rooms very nice.
The spa was running but not a great experience as no jacuzzi working, very cold in pool area, the steam sauna was not even warm let alone hot.
They are going through a transition period as under new management improvements are being made but this was not advertised. Currently upgrading treatment rooms so not able to have a massage or treatments. They had a bar menu in the room information folder that looked great but we were told they had stopped doing bar meals so had to eat in the restaurant. The two night stay including food cost us nearly £500 we are not big eaters or drinkers and didn’t have any extras like teas, coffees or lunches. This was a once a year treat for us sadly not felt completely worth all the money.

A very nice venue and great location
Staff were very helpful getting my electric car charged.
The room had low water pressure, the radiator in the bathroom didn't work and there was no hairdryer. Reception were informed about some of the issues but weren't able to help.

Breakfast was good.
I’m afraid that the staff weren’t very friendly or helpful. Bar man not friendly either.

We had to move rooms because of the noise outside of our bedroom window and when I went to reception the receptionist said yeah that’s the extractor as if she new. We then moved to their only other room available and there was the same problem. There was also a terrible sewage smell throughout the whole hotel. I think
When you’re paying £170 for a night this is really disappointing. I have never made a complaint about a stay but will be doing with this hotel.

Room was excellent but for a radiator that gurgled through the first night and couldn't be turned off. Maintenance had to disconnect! The hotel would have moved us to a different room but, as the room was not cold, we opted to remain. Breakfast was excellent, with plenty of choice. Building superb.
Quite difficult to find as the in-car SatNav brought us to a part of the road that had once existed but was now cut through by a dual carriage way and therefore a dead-end. Google maps, on an iPhone, found it immediately.
