Charming location and uniquely Kyoto feel.
Bathroom ceiling was covered in mould, which could be smelled throughout the whole place. The bathroom never dried out, which made towels et al constantly damp as well.
For some reason there wasn't any hand soap for the toilet hand basins, which means if you went upstairs you had to go downstairs to the bathroom to wash your hands.
All of the doorways are much lower than they need to be, which can be uncomfortable, as were the very highly pitched stairs. This might be why the walls in the staircase were so scuffed.
The laundry had hangers for wet clothes but no-where to hang them except inside the cupboard (with your dry clothing).
Entry was controlled by a pin code which changed every day at noon, meaning we constantly had to check our phone when returning to the apartment.
The living room had one single chair. One. Otherwise there were only cushions; not even a legless tatami style chair.
These would all be minor annoyances but combined together, when paying $500 a night, it felt very unwelcoming and poor value.

Home like comfortable stay. Traditional Japanese style.
Close but not closer enough to everywhere, not much to see around hotel. Price is relatively higher and usual for people of 2.

The apartment we had is pretty and fairly big, divided into two floors. Everything was clean and well maintained. The staff helpful. The neighborhood is interesting and well connected
The apartment has absolutely no outside view. It feels a bit to be closed in.
The beds where not really comfortable. The futons where too thin and the blankets where strange, ((they are not evenly filled) and air-conditioning blows directly on your head

The location was excellent, fairly close to Kyoto station and the metro, easy to get to places . The design of the place was traditional , yet modern.

Clean and beautiful apartment. The location is great and the area is quiet and peaceful. Thank you 😊

It was a great apartment - had everything we needed and was very clean. Nice location on the little river, easy for walking around or taking the train up to Gion. Lovely bathroom facilities. Kitchen facilities were small but useful, enabled us to cook for ourselves on an evening when we’d done enough city roaming.
The property was clean but did smell a bit dank, and - no doubt like much other Kyoto accommodation in the ‘eel house’ style, had views only of walls and very little daylight. Didn’t really bother us though - it was a nice cool retreat from the heat. For westerners like us, one additional chair (so we each had one) would have been nice.

the staff were helpful and answer your questions promptly!
The lighting in the house is dark making me feeling sleepy all the time. although the bathroom is spacious yet the ventilation system isn’t functional; thus, the bathroom became humid every time we finished our shower.

I like the location and the proximity to cafe and restaurants.
I would prefer if both rooms have beds instead of futons

The house was good, clean and close to Kyoto station and Japanese style.
It is a small house where while the bedrooms were good, one could not really use the small family area and the height of the door to the bedrooms and toilet was 5 feet and 6 inches (170 cm) which was an issue for us.

very Japanese feel, excellent location, amazing ceramic outdoor tub, extremely clean and comfortable

Enjoyed staying in a small house in Kyoto. Very nice bathroom and has all amenities. One room has futons and the other has a regular bed and desk. Prompt response from host when asking questions. Would work well for a family up to 2 kids.
Untreated wood prevalent in the house. Although by design it can lead to mould build up. Had to run the fan all the time in the bathroom to suppress the scent of mould. Not off putting but noticeable.

Beutifully designed, compact townhouse, perfect for 4 people. Only downside is wish could have spent more time at the house, was so nice. The outside bathtub is a brilliant touch.
4.5
Real nice design for a holiday home with full amenities like open air bath and kichenette and washing machine.
Nothing we didn’t like. It’s somehow expensive though.
