lovely spacious room with two sets of big windows, which I liked most. the kitchenette was useful since the hotel didn’t provide breakfast. it’s very quiet day and night.
this is not about this hotel. it’s about the way go into the hotel. this hotel is located in a quiet area with several hundred meters from town centre. you have to walk along the main road from central to the hotel. that bit was OK. however, after turning from the main road, you are going to a small road about 150 meters from the hotel. I was told that there are 7 or 8 guests house or hotels along this small road. the road condition was terrible with no any street lights at all and you couldn’t see anything there when you back to your hotel after dark. there’s heavy rain one day during our stay. the small road turned into a yellow mud road. The entire 150-meter-long road, at least 145 meters of pavement was covered with large and small puddles, the largest of which was about 2 meters, making it almost impossible for people to walk over. If a car enters the road, prepare to be splashed with yellow mud, unless the driver kindly stops and waits for you to walk past. those dirty yellow muddy puddles were there at least for 3days. Such road conditions will prevent guests who do not drive from coming here next time.

A nice hotel, not posh or ambitious, two stars I would say. Lovely staff
Unfortunately no breakfast. Unfortunately a bit outside the centre.

So clean and staff were so friendly! I don’t speak Spanish but they made me feel so welcome. Great location - close to town and easy walk back with lots of street lights at night

The hotel was a great location just slightly outside of the town (about a 5 minute walk) across from playa negra, staff was lovely and the owner was very accommodating abd a pleasure to talk too
This has nothing to do with the property itself- there were some reviews saying there are paddle boards at the property to use for free- this is for a different property and is a booking.com error

Cet hôtel était top ! Chambre très agréable grande, propre, confortable avec un bel espace extérieur. Et proche du centre de puerto viejo. Très pratique pour sortir. Et le personnel est vraiment aux petits soins. Très gentils 😊

- great AC, hot shower and comfortable beds
- friendly staff helped adjust the TV
- secure gated parking
- quiet away from main drag, but walkable with restaurants and market nearby
- furnishings dated, and a few gaps in the windows could let mosquitos in

The black sand beach is just 5 minutes away, across a busy street. The room was clean. Good internet and very good air con. The towels were changed daily.
The location is a little outside of Puerto Viejo and not very convenient if you don’t have a car.
Room 9 (double room, fully equipped) felt a little like a prison, with little light because it is necesarry to keep the curtains down for privacy. The double room is located under the stairs to the house, opposite the reception and overlooks the shared kitchen. There is not much privacy. Everything remained wet and was extremely hard to dry anything, even in the enclosed space adiacent to the room because the sun never gets to the room. Shower and toilet are very small. In addition, you can hear TV and music from the house and the staff comunicating loudly outside. The owner said that this is the “economical” room. This is not mentioned on the site.
It didn’t felt very economical to us either (at about 75$/night).
Also expect quite a few mosquitoes.

It felt like home because it was always quite and you could spot your neighbours from time to time to say hi. You have the option to park your car right in front of your apartment that is secured during the night. Perfect WiFi coverage and decent speed. The stuff was always willing to help and even found our single AirPod after cleaning.
Even if there were several hammocks in front of other apartments, they didn’t offer any. Although there are mounts installed on our terrace. We would have ordered Breakfast, but the bar/restaurant was not open at any time.

AC!!!
Drying rack was amazing!
Hammock outside.
Free filtered water and water bottles.
Location is just a touch out of town. Made for quiet nights, but felt a little scary walking back by myself at night.

The location was beautiful with garden out front where I watched the agoutis every morning. Saw the resident sloth on our first day here. The beach is beautiful although not good for swimming due to the rips. Would recommend going to the jaguar rescue centre across the road. Note there are tours you need to book so plan ahead. The spicy coconut restaurant was excellent. There was so much to offer on the menu I could have stayed for weeks just eating here. The flavours were exceptional. Gabriel was very friendly and I almost felt guilty when we finally tried a different restaurant on our last night.
The beds could have been better. They were actually box springs with a mattress topper. I slept well but my husband felt it could have been better.
When we first got here there was a problem with our shower running water but it was quickly rectified by moving us to another room. They were repairing the other room right away also.

Everything was perfect.

The hotel is perfectly located just a short walk from the restaurants and bars. The fabulous black sand beach is just a minute away. The staff are friendly and always happy to help. The room was clean and spacious. They happily accommodated us for a extra night as we really loved Puerto Viejo.
Nothing. We enjoyed our stay in the hotel and would highly recommend it.

-Very lovely hosts, made us feel welcome and we felt comfortable immediately :)
-very clean, one of the cleanest placest in Costa Rica
-small kitchen and free water
-although the location seems to be a bit outside on the map, it is only 5-10 min walk to the city center
-very quite and no car noise as in the city

super clean, the cleaners were amazing and efficient. rooms are very comfortable and big, you also get free coffee for the coffee machine and you can request extra clean towels. would highly recommend staying here
as a solo female traveller without a car I wouldn’t stay here. it’s just out of town and down a dark gravel road. although I was fine, it made me weary to go out at night and nervous walking home. if you have a car then it’s sweet but not if you don’t. only downside. I stayed in puerto viejo for a bit longer as I loved the town but moved to somewhere in town. it was the only reason I moved, would’ve loved to stay here the whole time.

The pictures didn't do it justice, aesthetically exceeded expectations. The room was clean, well put together and comfortable. Coffee machine in the room came with one day's worth of coffee, thereafter we bought some ourselves as wasn't replaced. Solid internet and very good air con, and not too far from Puerto Viejo (a walk along a busy road but didn't feel overly dangerous). If there are any loud guests, then you will hear them, as the communal areas are surrounded by the rooms, but this only impacted one night we were there, otherwise slept soundly.

The hotel itself is quite nice, though overpriced like everything in Costa Rica. The cleaning is good, when the lady decides to come, which was not the case for me every day (there was no schedule and for two days noone came). The management is quite nice and helpful.
Minuses: Noisy: There is no insulation whatsoever and you can hear every word the neighbors speak. It can be noisy, especially at night, when everyone‘s TV is turned on and blasting, when young backpackers scream throughout the night or when the hotel boy was talking on his phone for hours. There was no effort made from the management to keep the noise down at night. On some days there was music played by the hotel all day, which I found distracting. While I was there, there was also extremely loud construction work going on during the day. These noise issues lowered my experience significantly. It was difficult to relax or work there. I would not recommend this place for people seeking peace and relaxation.

The location is near of the center of the city, but far from the noise. The staff are very friendly and we was welcomed by an sloth! The room is perfect size, with a nice bathroom and also a small kitchen. Comfy beds and pillows and air conditioned -needed - works at a glance.
There is nothing that I didn't like, the space for the parking lot is a little small, if you driving a big car you need to drive very well to put the car in a postion that will not bother the others guests.

The hosts were awesome and they were very responsive to any concerns. The jungle setting is beautiful, including the outdoor seating. The room was spacious and the bathroom large, There were NO bugs or anything in the place, which was amazing given the location. The hosts went ABOVE and BEYOND and made us feel like home. I don't think I've ever experienced this type of service or welcome.
Maid service - refrigerator had mold around the opening, which is dangerous and makes me not feel comfortable putting food in there. Just needed more training.

really enjoyed our stay, the owner and her husband are so lovely as are all the staff! We were greeted with a cold beer and ice tea. perfect location, just a 5 minute walk into town and a 5 minute drive in a tuktuk to coccles beach. the room had everything we needed and there was a communal kitchen we could use. 100% would recommend.

Perfect location just a short walk to the beach and the town. Perfect way to get a little jungle vibe.
When we first checked in we were given a room that was like a box. It had a lattice box for a patio. Once we talked to booking.com, who talked to the owner, they made it right. They went above and beyond, moved us to a fabulous room and we really enjoyed our stay.

The room was spacious and clean.
The reception was always empty so not very easy to communicate with the staff when needed.
There was no hot water in the shower.
