The property is in a great location situated right next to the river. The food & service in the restaurant was excellent. Our room )although very small) was very clean and had good facilities. The bed linen was nice.
On arrival at 3pm we opened our window and could hear a very loud humming sound. We went back to reception & the manager advised us we could hear the kitchen extract from our room. We explained we were worried wouldn’t sleep as we are both light sleeper. We asked to move but were told this wasn’t possible as all the other rooms “had specifically been requested by all other guests??” The manager advised that we didn’t need to worry as the extraction was switched off between 10pm - 10am. We were happy with this re-assurance. HOWEVER the extraction was left on all night by the kitchen staff and we therefore had little sleep. This was made worse by the fact the room is also over the kitchen and there were electricians working in there over night crashing around!! We were not advised that this was happening & we might be disturbed until we complained in the morning. It’s such a shame as the room was nice and the food was excellent, if it wasn’t for the noisy extractor we would definitely recommend the property. But as it stands as we got little sleep we cant recommend. As it seems you can “request” a room. Make sure to insist you are not given “PUTTENHAM” unless you are a solid sleeper!!

Friendly staff, a nice old hotel with period charm and a lovely setting (albeit the very busy road nearby is always going to be a feature).
The meal was fine but service lacked a bit for the money (everything had to asked for). After hours, the area below our room became the staff/mates smoking area, complete with large wafts of smoke and loud bawdy laughter until fairly late. Not quite the experience the price levels suggested.

Fabulous hospitality, awesome food, great service, great cocktails, comfortable bed and great shower. Nothing not to like!

Everything has been thought out well, here. The bed and pillows are comfortable. The decor is nice. The bathroom is clean and everything works properly. Good quality bath robes are provided. The heating was easy to control (we had a winter stay). The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The food was nice. Breakfast is generous. This is a place that extends genuine hospitality and it seems this is getting more and more difficult to find in UK.
The windows are single glazed so in the morning the window was running with condensation. Having said that the windows were cleaned each day when the room was refreshed.

Old style, genuine pub based but top class facilities

Lovely pub away from everything
Breakfast-had to order night before

Very comfortable beds-nice bedding and towels and good shower.
Staff very friendly.
Very small bedrooms
Very very busy restaurant with no space just to have a drink
Total emphasis on eating customers- staff came in at 10 am on Saturday for Brunch. Providing Breakfast not a priority.
Difficult to get parking when arrived due to lunchtime customers

No issues what so ever, it looks a beautiful setting in the summer months with the river running alongside and the beer garden we'll set up.
The bar closes very early even for residence, 11 pm.

Food was great, rooms were clean and well equipped!
The parking was a problem when I arrived, it doesn't have enough parking for guests and a full restaurant.

The staff are very helpful and welcoming. The hotel is in a pretty location, close to where we were visiting. The food is excellent.

Front of house staff good. Outside eating area lovely.
Food disappointing. Breakfast service haphazard and eggs over cooked and cold. Room very small and overpriced.

Clean tidy and great food

The old English quirkiness, but at the same time modern conveniences . The staff were helpful and friendly without being obsequious.
The food was exceptionally good although the menu could have been extended. We had an excellence lunch and evening meal, the ham and chicken pie was delicious.
The out side dining room next to the river was the perfect spot for supper.
At times it was difficult to access the internet. The menu Ineeds to be redesigned with a larger font.

Fabulous room with superb shower and very comfortable bed. Loved the coffee machine and coffee provided as well as the ale thank you.
Would have preferred to have USB points to charge phone etc - there was an abundance of 3 point sockets so this could have easily been solved. Also the full English was excellent unfortunately the scrambled eggs were overcooked

What a beautiful, characterful place. Lovely room which was very clean and comfortable. Excellent touches in the room … decoration, Bramley toiletries, Birchall tea bags, Nespresso machine, fresh milk. Staff were lovely too. Very well done, thank you.

Lovely room with all the quirkiness of a very old building, would definitely stop here again. Good that you had such a wide choice of breakfast and liked that you could order the night before.
A cereal choice would have been a nice option.

Nice place to stay. Diner in the evening was very good. Room a little small but ok
Car park not very big and would be a problem if you could not squeeze in. I got the last spot thankfully.
