Breakfast was super, the evening meal was also excellent and the staff attentive and helpful.
The beer is also good.
The rooms are tired but clean and the bed comfortable… don’t go expecting 5 star luxury…

Excellent food fast efficient service staff very friendly

Friendly helpful staff, despite being far from newly installed everything was clean and worked. Typical everyday English country hotel such as I have stayed in many times in the last 80 years. And a view of the beautiful Devil's Punchbowl.
Breakfast waitress was friendly and helpful but having to do too many other jobs. Breakfast was beautifully cooked but took nearly half an hour to arrive and sufficient toast and any coffee at all did not arrive before we had to leave to meet a deadline. Booking.com breakfast price was given as £8.50, but despite the missing toast and coffee, we were charged £12.50.

Dinner portion was tiny and disappointing. No cereal or fruit with breakfast
Rooms a little old and tired but comfortable

Nice size room. Very comfortable. Ate in the restaurant staff very good.
Hotel is very dated. Bathroom fittings and fixtures need updating. Lampshades worn and cracked. Tea & coffee making below standard.

The hotel was well located for what I wanted to do (explore Devil's Puncbowl, Hindhead Common, Frensham lakes). It was a quiet location, but still walkable to restaurants and the local pub (as well as having an on-site bar and restaurant). Make no mistake, this isn't a premier inn, and the decor is rather dated, but it is clean and comfortable and suited what I wanted it for. The food I had for breakfast and dinner was excellent, tasty and reasonably priced.
Some attention detail in this hotel would help. My window was a little draughty, and there were some cobwebs in the corners of the room (I've watched a few too many Hotel Inspectors I think), but the staff are very pleasant and attentive. It is also a quiet time of the year for them, with minimal staff so I can understand why this is the way it is.

Location was perfect
very smelly rooms downstairs and a bit dated.

Very nice restaurant and bar facility
It looks old and tired from the outside and the staircase

Location is great. Near national Trust forest with devil’s punch bowl. Great walks. Nice towels. Very friendly service - they tried hard. Good full English breakfast especially the sausage. Lovely porridge, creamy and not dry. Reception area a bit sparse - not very welcoming.
The hotel desperately needs a refurbishment. Paint work is chipped, mould in the shower, carpets old - general paint job needed. There’s a run down feeling about it. Breakfast wasn’t included in the price of the bed - a bit unusual. TV so small it was hardly worth watching. Turning shower on was difficult as the switch was very stiff. Awful decaffeinated coffee.

You get what you pay for, friendly staff but really tired hotel and poor breakfast..
Shower a mere dribble, the whole place needs a fortune spending on it to bring

Money We liked the walk around were the hotel was amazing views . Did not see anything else as we going to wedding . The rooms were clean . The staff were good . The evening meals were very good . So we would come back . And would say to people to stay its worth its money . The in side down stairs was really nice . And you can see they are doing agood job of making it look nice . The beds are nice and comfortable. And old but clean . The cleaners have done agreat job of trying to clean it being a old building . Parking good which is a plus . It's 20min walk to the town . Great serve at bar in evening smiles . So thank you for a good stay can not wait to see it back to it when its finished .
The building looked really tied . But you can see their doing it up . But it does put you off abit when you turn up and see it . The breakfast was not very good . Just fruit drink . Full english was food over cooked and not hot . They kept running out of milk . Would of been nice to see cereals . Then have cooked breakfast . The waiter was not very good at breakfast . It was like it was not ready for morning breakfast. .

Great breakfast. Good location.
Room was never really dark because of the night light.

Comfortable and reasonably priced but would have liked breakfast included
The bathroom was a little shabby with black mould around the bath and shower area. Just needs sprucing up a bit.
3.2
friendly staff
room 317 , blood or similar on carpet(lots).Bathroom smells and needs cleaning and decorating. The loo roll holder is hanging on the wall just. The bath panel needs replacing or cleaning right down and painting.Lovely looking 4 poster bed but the mattress was too small (wrong size). The staff came into the room to make the bed and to empty the bin, why did they not clean or replace the mucky used tea cups or to change the bath towels.
