For our second year, our stay aboard Mazu offered our family a truly wonderful vacation! There is no other place like it, where we are surrounded by beautiful views from every direction, and where we are rocked to sleep every night by the peaceful waves of the Damariscotta River. My daughters and I have looked forward to our return to Mazu since last summer, and we were not disappointed. Olga and Chip are such excellent hosts, balancing proactive help, great communication, and warm smiles whenever needed but also honoring our privacy and special family time. We spent five days swimming in the incredibly warm waters of the Damariscotta River, lounging on the aft deck while playing games together, and exploring the wonderful town of Damariscotta, with its lovely shops and delicious restaurants. We slept well in the comfortable beds aboard the Mazu, and enjoyed sea breezes that kept us cool even during unseasonably warm Maine weather. Having been raised sailing the Maine coast, but not being able to offer my children the same opportunity, this chance to live aboard a beautifully appointed boat has been such fun for us all. We already look forward to next year. Thank you, Chip and Olga, for your warm hospitality, great care, and for sharing this little piece of Heaven with us!

This is our second year vacationing on MAZU. We love the easy access to good restaurants and shopping. Also a nearby restaurant has live music during happy hour so we had that as a bonus as we relaxed on the boat. The owners are great!! Although we had an issue with the plumbing this year, Chip responded quickly and resolved the problem. We are hoping to stay on the MAZU again next summer.

Stayed on the boat while in the area to attend a family wedding. Enjoyed an idyllic afternoon on the boat, kayaking and swimming before heading out.

We really enjoyed being on the water. This was our first time staying on a boat, but will not be the last. It was a lovely location and a great experience.

We totally enjoyed our weekend stay in Damariscotta. The houseboat accommodations were awesome. Olga, the property manager, was exceptional. We will return. Great location….a short walk to all of the downtown restaurants and shops of Damariscotta and Newcastle. Wonderful place to experience Maine!

It was more spacious than I expected based on the photos. Nice location for a quiet, lowkey, pretty getaway. Recommend doing the oyster and wine pairing boat cruise if you can really enhanced the experience. Great hosts.

Located in an area with a lot to do, if you know what to look for.... Chip and Olga were amazing and accommodating! I would stay here over and over again!

Great stay for two nights. Boat was comfortable with 4 adults. Town had more to offer than expected. Bar and restaurant at the dock and good food and shops within 5 minutes walk.

We reported problem and did not take showers because we didn’t want it to overflow. I had to call and they said it was fixed. Same thing the next night.

We loved it, definitely not a 4 adult place but perfect for a couple. Amazing view and location. Damariscotta is a great town to visit and get the feel of Maine. A few things need to be fixed and updates but overall really nice

We absolutely loved our stay! We wanted a quiet and relaxing getaway, and this one knocked it out of the park. The only ‘complaint’ is that now we’re COMPLETELY spoiled- and it’s going to be difficult for future getaways anywhere else to match up! Which is actually a compliment- Olga, Chip, and MAZU rock! A+

The stay was very relaxing and the sunsets were wonderful. If you like being on the water this is worth checking out. Close to restaurants and easy walking to Main Street where you can sit outside and enjoy a meal.

This was an awesome experience! I would definitely do it again. This boat was very clean and had pretty much everything you need too relax and stay put for the weekend! Bed was comfortable shower was hot! Free wine and 2 water bottles was nice! So a few things we came across no Working Ac in master bedroom there was a old box fan not strong enough to really make a big difference. The main Ac worked but not strong enough to cool the whole boat so we really couldn’t enjoy the inside of the boat without sweating until the sun went down and even then it was still pretty warm! I was told there was a computer to watch movies on it apparently broke prior to arrival mind you I asked about tv would of been nice to be notified since I was planning on watching a movie. I could of brought my own. The parking was kinda crappy due to a onsite very popular restaurant. Although there was parking in a separate lot close by but we weren’t really sure if you could park there then we moved our car after 8pm. I would rent this boat again just not in the hottest month of the year!

This was a unique experience that my kids really enjoyed. We had restaurants to grab food (many are short staffed and could not seat is), bring takeout back to boat, swim off the boat and just play games with our kids. You need to remember it’s a boat and has tight space but well worth it for the experience. Many thanks to Olga.

Waves rock you to sleep
Perfect boat Maine experience for non nautical family. We loved the whole experience: eating at the Schooner, kayak morning ride, watching sunset and rocking to sleep with the waves. The cabin was very roomy and the sleeping was perfect. Great hosts and well stocked. Our family of 4 loved it!

Life on the Mazu
We had a wonderful stay on the Mazu. Never stayed on a boat before and the Mazu exceeded our expectations. What a wonderful place to stay. The bed in the captains quarters was fantastic! Views and location were amazing. Olga and Chip are wonderful hosts. Highly recommend the Mazu for your next get away!

It's a boat! Different experience for two not-overly-familiar-with-boats people. But fun! Our hosts were very nice and responsive - we were missing a hair dryer - there was a minor problem with one of the toilets - both issues addressed quickly. There is a semi-lengthy metal ramp (we called it the gang plank!) over water that had to be traversed to get to/from the boat - a little intimidating - angled somewhat steeply at times due to tides - damp/slippery at times due to weather - but we held on tight & took our time. Possibly not a good fit for some folks may have mobility, agility issues or someone who may be intoxicated!! Overall - a nice, fun, unique experience for us. Certainly allowed for easy access to the village and beat the heck out of dealing with the pumpkin festival traffic!

Wonderful
The town of Dameriscotta is a worthy destination. Excellent restaurants, shops, and many outdoorsy things to do on the river. The boat was comfortable, clean and fun to be on. The hosts are invested in the region and incredibly knowledgeable. We also really enjoyed the river tour. We’d recommend a stay here, if you are visiting coastal Maine.

What a View !
If you want a water view and be in the middle of downtown close to all the restaurants and shops, this is for you ! Olga and Chip were fantastic hosts and were very responsive if needed but left us to our privacy. Great balance! It is a boat so expect those things that come with a boat. The beds were very comfortable and cozy !
