Great small hotel!

We stayed at Hotel Botanico de Coimbra for several days in July. The hotel was well-managed, rooms were very comfortable and air conditioned, complementary wifi worked very well, and the hotel served a good light breakfast. There is a small bodega and cafe next door which made it very nice for drinks and other items. We very much enjoyed the stay and look forward to staying again in the future.

Perfect choice

The hotel is situated beside the beautiful botanic garden, only a 10 minute walk to the centre. Our double room had a good size, lovely bright big windows which provided great noise isolation during the night. The beds were very comfortable, bathroom nicely renovated and everything was spotlessly clean. The very friendly and helpful reception is staff is available 24 hours. We cannot comment on the breakfast as we did not have it. But there are plenty of cafes and bars on the way to town which offer good cheap coffee and sandwiches etc. For the night time we can thoroughly recommend Bar Botanico which is just around the corner of the hotel. All in all we had a great stay at Hotel Botanico and will happily return next time when we are in Coimbra.

Perfect spot for me in Coimbra

Delicious bread, pastries and orange juice at the breakfast. Two parking spaces right in front of hotel and I got one of them! Great location for sightseeing around the botanical gardens and the university. My room had a beautiful front balcony with a fantastic view across the valley.

The coffee at breakfast wasn’t my “cup of tea”, but it almost never is anywhere in Portugal😟.

Perfect stay

Beautifully decorated, very clean, in a perfect position, close to the botanical garden, 10 minutes walk from the university: I really enjoyed this hotel. The room for four people was divided into two parts, so it was like to have two rooms. Breakfast was perfect and rich, the bathroom was wide, with two basins, the shower huge. It was easy to park in the street. Incredible value for money.

Lovely hotel a short walk away from Coimbra university

The staff were so sweet and helpful! loved them! they made my stay comfortable and I felt like I could depend on them. They also kindly agreed to let me check in at 2 am which was helpful. The hotel is very clean and it is close to the university which was perfect.

At random times during the night I could smell smoke even though my room is non-smoking.

Nothing serious to complain about, I can recommend. :)

Location very close to the town center and to the University, also close to a park. Staff very nice and helpful. Rooms clean and renovated.

Minor difficulties with the wifi connection, but eventually it was working very well. :) Breakfast simple, but if you stay only a few nights, it is ok.

A hotel with wonderful staff that makes you feel at ease.

In particular, I would like to express my great gratitude to the woman at the reception, Sandra, who is a very polite and dedicated person. She very stubbornly tried to contact Lisbon airport by phone and specify details of the disappearance of my suitcase, which so did not arrive at the hotel until my departure. She also tried to help me with her umbrella from the first day.

There's no such thing as that.

We had a pleasant short stay in Coimbra to visit a family member, and Botânico was the ideal place.

Very good ratio quality/price. It was the second time we stayed at this comfortable and exceptionally clean hotel and we think we got the best value for our money. The staff is helpfull and friendly, very professional. Rooms are airy, clean and comfortable. Location is ideal if you want to be near the university or avoid the hazzard of downtown.

There are only two parking spaces available in front of the hotel. Nonetheless, there is free parking on the street nearby. Breakfast is acceptable but lacks vegan options.
