The room was fantastic. It was comfortable and we loved the private onsen and balcony. We liked having a private dining room. The building is generally lovely and it’s clear a lot of attention went into its design.
Everything was very timely, dinner was exactly when they said it would be. Overall we enjoyed our stay here.
Went in to it very open minded on the food and tried most things, however there were a few issues on the food:
- the menu was not always accurate and the staff struggle to explain what everything is in English.
- the quality of the food is not to a restaurant standard. While generally prepared well, the ingredients are sometimes noticeably lower quality. Given the high price, I would have liked it to feel more high quality.
- in the western breakfast the sausage is given to you raw with the expectation that you cook it yourself in the chicken stew which is over a large candle. It is not possible to fully cook the sausage in this way before the candle runs out and so leaves the risk of food poisoning.

Nothing
The service did not meet expectations and the wifi is very slow. The food is normal nothing special both Breakfast and Dinner.

Every thing was perfect but the food.
The food. 2/10.

The room had an onsen on the balcony, looking towards the mountain which was wonderful.
The room was nice, large TV screen and the toilet was 'automatic'.
We had our meals in a private room with our friends and there were many courses including fresh sashimi. The food was great and quite traditional unless you requested the western breakfast.
The whole place was very quiet.
Happy hour had reasonably priced drinks in a bar that is also an aquarium.
One of the Hakone bus stops was right outside the ryokan. b
Most of the staff were non Japanese and it was difficult to understand both their English and Japanese.
The onsen temperature was set to Foreigner temp but they increased it when we requested it.
It it was a bit of a walk to get to the station. Coming back there is a steep hill.

The private onsen, the toiletries provided and room was lovely.
Be aware that you may want to get dinner in town if you're not a seafood fan. It's beautifully prepared though so we did enjoy the presentation of the dishes. There is not a lot of explanation of what things are, so you're a little bit on your own as to what's what on the plate. Not heat for someone with food sensitivities.
On our departure date, we waited almost an hour for a taxi. We decided to walk to the station, there was no map of how to get there. Just a point to just keep going left, except it wasn't just left so we just asked people on the street. Seems like having a map to town (bc of the limited taxis) is a minimum that a hotel should be able to provide.
The service was very polite and kind in person. But when I messaged the property online, answers were rather abrupt and not helpful. I just learned to go to the front desk to get better service. An example is we messaged ahead to see if we could arrange a private driver to take us to a few spots. The answer was essentially no with no alternatives provided. When we were onsite, we saw something in their booklet for private drivers, so we asked again and they arranged a driver for the next day.

Beautiful well kept accommodations. Onsen in room was amazing. Staff attentive and helpful. It is a little downhill walk to town and bus station 4 will take you up the hill back. Meals were delicious but don't expect American tastes! They took very good care of us!
Nothing!

First time staying in a hotel with a private onsen. Had a wonderful experience. The hotel was easily accessible with bus/ shuttle. Will definitely consider staying at the hotel again on the next trip.

Amazing place. Stayed here as part of our honeymoon. Loved the private onsen. Definitely worth getting if you can afford it. The Japanese breakfast and dinner option takes some getting used to if you're familiar with a Western palette, however absolutely worth a try!

The amazing service provided by all staff. The decor was very impressive and felt authentic. A relaxing experience from start to finish. We all thoroughly enjoyed the food tasting in our own dining room. The private onsen was amazing 😀

Very nice private onsen, staff went above and beyond to make the experience comfortable.
Some of the food lacked taste.

It was unique in that it offered a private onsen in your room/balcony if you didn’t want to use the public onsen which was in the ground floor. We took advantage of the onsen in the late afternoon when we arrived, after dinner and after breakfast! They also have a beautiful lobby, hallway and private dining area, as well as carry/store away your shoes/luggage for you. We loved being in socks and wearing our yukata to meals and were treated attentively by all the staff. The room we slept in was clean, spacious and roomy for a ryokan.
It was harder to get to from the Odawara station. Public transportation is “light” in this resort town, so while it is fun to explore everything on foot, it can take a much longer time to wait for a bus to get to the museum or back to your hotel. You are better off paying for a taxi to get around (ie up/down the mountain base) if you are short on time.

It was a beautiful location and staff very attentive and helpful; the room was just charming as was the food
Having some more information on how to get to different places from hotel would have been helpful, as well as assistance with booking activities if need help with

rooms and staff was top notch.
the only thing we didn't like was the food. beautiful plates, but not so good taste.

The staff was very welcoming and accommodating. They seem to be reading the reviews and improving the overall experience. The kaiseki dinner was good, and the next day breakfast was plentiful and delicious. The floor futons were comfortable. The town is a quick walk down the hill.
Some of the furniture in the room needs updating.

Views and room are amazing. Staff very welcoming and friendly. Food was excellent but not if you are vegetarian or vegan. Private onsen was amazing. Loved the traditional pyjamas and evening wear supplied
Very pricey...spent same on one night here as a full weeks accommodation in osaka.

Beautiful surroundings. Beautiful room - the private Onsen was great.
Really nice authentic and traditional experience.
Friendly helpful staff
Delicious and adventurous meal included with our stay.
Unfortunately for us the tatami mats were not a comfy night's sleep!

Beautiful hotel and felt very luxurious. very comfortable futons and we loved the open air bath. The staff were lovely and very helpful.
We didn’t enjoy the dinner or breakfast and a lot of food was wasted which was a shame. The kids meal was pretty terrible- cold spaghetti and rice and omelette with tomato sauce on it. It would have been nice to have been given more choice so we didn’t waste so much food. Overall it was not good value and I wouldn’t recommend.

The private onsen was fantastic, clean and had a great view. The breakfast and dinner service was absolutely delicious. The hotel staff go above and beyond to make sure you feel like a valued patron.
Room service was quite expensive and very very very tiny complaint was the bottle opener that was provided with the room was extremely dulled out. Was able to request for a new one.
