Good for one night, but nothing special

The location was nice, right in front of the beach, the beach there is not the best for swimming. The price was fair enough for what you get. Not sure if I would stay here again.

They should have had a dehumidifier in the room.

Music was OK but constant issues with no power, no water, no AC, no WiFI made the stay unpleasant.

The location was great, and breakfast was tasty! I'm not very hungry in the mornings so instead of the traditional breakfast I just asked for toast and joice, which they provided. The location was walking distance to anything in town but the closest beach walking distance wasn't good for swimming.

My boyfriend and I did not have a good experience here and would not recommend Hotel Alcazar. Here are the reasons: 1 - The power cut out constantly, which cut out the WiFi. We were trying to work and could not do our jobs. This also cut out the AC, so the room was unbearably hot. 2- The water kept turning off. We tried several times to shower and had either cold water or no water. Once we went down to see why we had no water, and the guy was filling up the pool. It was 6 PM. He had to stop doing that to turn our water back on. It was back off a little while later. This also meant we couldn't wash off after being at the beach and couldn't flush the toilet. 3- There was a giant cockroach in our bathroom. 4- There was no communication from front desk. We had to continually keep going downstairs to ask why we had no water, no wifi, no power, etc. We felt really stuck sitting in a hot room with no power and no water. There were a lot of negative reviews about the music nearby. We brought a sound machine and thought the noise was not an issue at all. Ironically, we barely heard it but had this long list of other struggles no one else had mentioned. If you're trying to work like we were, don't book here as the WiFi was far from reliable.

Location

The room was not what we expected. Initially no WiFi only in common area. Noisy as hell and the breakfast was the worst ever

Excellent rooms, great staff, just be prepared for the noise.

The staff was friendly and the rooms were very clean and incredibly big. If you want to be close to the beach then this is an excellent location. The bed was very comfortable and the air conditioning was nice and cold.

Although it did warn of noise at night we did not expect the noise to be so loud (it is literally right next to a hostal and a club that blast their music at full volume all night) or to go on so late (3:00-4:00 am). While we did not take off points for this in the overall star ratings, we did take off points in the “location” rating as this makes it a terrible location if you have kids or if you simply want a good nights sleep. They do provide ear plugs (it is that bad) but they only dampen the noise, not eliminate it). Otherwise the only complain was that whenever we came down for breakfast in the morning, there was no one there to serve up or take our order. we waited 10 minutes each day we were there and then chose to leave and get breakfast elsewhere.

it’s beautiful and the location is great ,but the noise and not getting a refund was horrible

i booked a two night stay at hotel alcazar through booking.com and I requested to change my dates as my transportation couldn’t get me to the hotel for the first night , I was not refunded and this place was 100 dollars a night for a place that literally had to provide ear plugs because of club music pounding until 5 a.m ! I didn’t get any sleep and their were strong paint fumes

Great location / lousy location -

The hotel was across the street from the beach - with easy beach access - walking distance to everything from town. The staff was amazingly friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean, modern, well maintained.

The hotel needs to invest in some soundproofing - we had a pool side / courtyard room - we could not sleep of a night because of the noise coming from outside of the hotel - perhaps if the doors to our rooms were not glass the music would have been muffled - butting having even ear plugs in - the noise was unbelievable.

Wifi did not work in the room. I had to go out of my room for it. When I got there a very nice woman signed me in {big plus}. Next day there was a man. I felt so uncomfortable with him that I went to a different hotel. I lost ~100 $ but was better than how I was feeling there

Central and comfortable… Also Nellie at the front desk was super helpful!

Exceptional

You will freaking looooove this place, it is worth every single penny. The view ... oh Lord the view 😭😭😭 it is so beautiful. Make sure you are in the 3rd floor you won't regret it. My room was just like the pictures. I have a YouTube chanel (Cofi y su tribu) you can check it out under the video San Juan del sur and you will see how satisfied we are with the hotel.

The breakfast is poor so plan of having breakfast somewhere else, they only had rice and beans and plantains for breakfast , we don't like that and that was the only option 🤷🏽‍♀️

The hotel has the perfect location in San Juan. The room was pretty, clean and spacious, and the pool area was adorable. The breakfast was a typical nicaraguan plate. All the staff was super nice.

Perfect. We will certainly stay here again and recommend friends to do the same.

The staff does everything to make your stay very comfortable, relaxing and luxurious. The rooms with the balcony views of the bay are fantastic. The Nicaraguan breakfast in their cafe area was an excellent way to get us energized for the day.

A terrible experience. Avoid at all cost.

The property is centrally located close to the beach and the rooms are very nice with good furniture.

There is a nightclub directly opposite. We initially had a 2 night stay from Monday to Wednesday however the music was so loud it felt like the nightclub was in our room and went on till 4am. When we complained to the gentleman on the front desk he told us to use earplugs. For a very expensive hotel in the area we didn’t expect this sort of response. We had no choice to leave at this point as were very tired and couldn’t face another night without sleep. The hotel have refused to admit any responsibility and refused any refund whatsoever. They said they warned us in a message which I didn’t see, at the very least this should be advertised on their website, avoid at all cost!!

The room is really small, and lacking pretty much everything : there's no desk or table, no fridge, no coffee maker. There's just a bed and a couple of chairs. The balcony only has bar stools which are really inconvenient. Worst of all, in the night there's a lot of noise from the disco in front. And goes on till very late at night. The hotel kindly provides ear plugs, which is nice but does not help - they only attenuate the noise but don't block it. The breakfast is rather poor. I was kindly offered the option of not having it at all though
