This was an exceptionally clean cottage, and was furnished with basic necessities, to include laundry detergent, firewood, and equipment to cook lobster. The owner was easy to reach and we communicated by text message.
The beach is secluded, and during a one week stay, we only saw one couple walk through our portion of the beach. We typically would hit the beach early in the morning and in the evenings and look for sea glass and other treasures that might have washed up on the beach. In the evening I would sit by the campfire and watch the ocean and the stars. I got to see a seal swimming near the cottage.
The cottage location is perfect for those that want to avoid the more heavily crowded areas. We explored the coastline from Schoodic Pennisula and Winter Harbor, up to Lubec, and saw Jasper Beach, and stopped in Machias.
We look forward to staying at this cottage in the future.

This is a special and gorgeous spot. A quiet corner of the Acadia area all to yourself. Close to unique and charming places to eat, explore, and discover. The surroundings are pristine. The cottage is perfect for a small family. A small beach right in front of the house provides the perfect natural playground. We want to go back! Thank you so much.

This was a wonderful weeklong rental experience for us. The cottage was situated in a quiet, lovely wooded area with a full view of and access to the ocean along with a grassy area perfect for kids to play outside. The owners clearly take very good care of everything. The cottage was clean, fully stocked and aesthetically pleasing. We had everything we needed for a fun, comfortable vacation exploring the coast of Maine!

This is our family's third time staying at Morningside and we couldn't be happier with the property, location, and everything it provides. Melissa & Dan are awesome hosts, very responsive and easy to work with. We will definitely be back for years to come!

The pictures don't do the place justice. It's about the perfect quiet little cabin retreat! A great section of beach right out the front door, and a cozy space inside with all the important ammeneties you need for a short or long stay. We fell asleep to the sounds of the waves lapping just feet away from our bed. Didn't hurt the weather was about perfect. We're already talking about when we would want to return.

Our family had the most amazing time at Morningside. From the second we drove up to this adorable beach cottage we were in love! The cottage is rustic, but comfortable and well-appointed with everything we needed for our stay. Our daughters loved being able to just walk a few steps to the beach and we loved getting to sit and relax and watch them. I spent many mornings watching the (very early) gorgeous sunrise and the lobster boats drive by. Melissa and Dan were incredible hosts and we also went on the lobster boat tour run by their awesome family and it was one of our favorite experiences on our trip. We cannot wait to come back again! We miss Maine and this area so much already!

Morningside Cottage was the perfect home base for our first visit to Maine. Our 5 and 7 year olds loved playing on the beach out back and the firepit. The cottage was immaculate and very well-stocked. We would definitely return!

This was such a gem off the beaten path. Be sure to catch an amazing sunrise. If you are lucky you can see the deer that come to visit. The night sky is truly amazing. The cottage is comfy and well maintained. Melissa was extremely helpful. You wont go wrong with this property.

Wow! This little cottage is exactly like it is shown in the posting. It is furnished with everything you could possibly need in the kitchen and throughout. It was so peaceful to sit on the deck with morning coffee and watch the sunrise. I was sitting out there one afternoon, looked up, and a little baby deer was peeking at me through the deck railing. :) The owner, Melissa, was always available if I needed her and she replies promptly. The area is quiet. It was a short drive to Acadia on the Schoodic Peninsula, and only a few minutes to a little cafe called "Lunch on the Wharf". This was the best part of our New England road trip!

The cottage was better than anticipated- the photos don’t do it justice. It was in an excellent, quiet location and we had everything we needed for a comfortable few day stay exploring Acadia and the surrounding area and checking out the fall leaves. It was great to have ocean access to search for shells during low tide. Would stay here again!

We had an incredible stay at Morningside! We were fortunate enough to meet the owners, Dan & Melissa, on our first day there and they were fantastic! The cottage is everything they say it is; the view is spectacular (can't beat being right on the water!) it's clean, neat, organized, and came with all the "extras" we needed. They even provided sample soap and shampoo from a local shop called Prospect Harbor Soap Co. We loved the samples so much, we shopped there and took home some of our own goodies :) (thank you for providing these!). They also provided campfire wood, which we utilized a few days during our stay. The area is quiet and semi-secluded, which was exactly what we were looking for. We also enjoyed being able to travel a short distance to different harbors. There is also a company, less than 1 minute from the cottage, where you can go and purchase lobster, crab, etc. right off the boat...we did this twice during our stay and it was affordable and very delicious! Overall, we really enjoyed our time here...it was the perfect place to stay for our first visit to Maine! Highly recommend! We hope to come back again someday. Thank you!!

We absolutely love this place! You should have heard us when we walked in after dark. Everyone was delighted! We were a little concerned about booking a rustic cabin because our family has mold allergies, but we had absolutely no problems. It smelled great and we all felt so good while we were there. Wish we could have stayed longer. Thank you for such a wonderful cabin to stay in on the coast of Maine.

Best cabin I ever had - direct to the ocean, well equipped. Wish we could stay there for longer…The owner prepared our stay with a lot of useful information and called back immediately when we had a question.

Nice older cottage right on the water! Our kids loved the beach as well as the natural land bridge just a small walk away! Plenty of space outdoors to explore and the fire pit was great every night listening to the ocean. Try and book a tour with their own lobster boat tours. You literally catch your dinner. Dan does a great job and you will learn so much. Only 5 minutes from the cottage.

We enjoyed our stay at Morningside. The sunrises were amazing and it’s the perfect little beach cottage. We had everything we needed and enjoyed being so close to Schoodic Point. It’s an easy drive to Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park. We timed it really well this time with the leaves changing color! The owners had the fireplace going for our arrival and it stayed on the entire stay (on a timer). It was our 3rd trip to the area and we almost didn’t make it due to being Floridians and Hurricane Ian’s timing. Melissa and Dan were very gracious and patient with us while we were finalizing our plans and debating on whether or not we could make the trip. The Pickled Wrinkle is our favorite little place to eat close by! We hope to return!

This is a lovely small cottage right on the water with stunning views away from the crowds. Nice yard and views. Well- appointed inside and just right for couple/small family. Would have liked more reading light and perhaps small table between recliner and couch. Lots of deer!

It is good for your soul!
It was a beautiful property. I would go back again and again. It was so peaceful and serene. I woke up early every morning and drank coffee out by the fire pit overlooking the ocean. I teared up when I left as I did not want to go.

Seaside paradise
Morningside was an ideal coastal Maine experience. The kids had a blast on the seashore tide pooling. Following the coastline, you can walk into town for lobster rolls and lunch on the wharf.
The distance to Mount Desert Island and Bar Harbor is right around 45 Minutes, which is perfect to get "away" from the tourists that descend the island.
The house was nicely stocked with kitchen essentials (spices, aluminum foil, etc.)
Melissa was quick to respond to any and all questions. They even provided the cruise ship schedule so we could plan our visit to Bar Harbor to avoid the thousands of ship cruisers.
We had the coastal Maine vacation we had been dreaming about!

The quiet side of Acadia cottage
This cottage put a smile on our faces each time we pulled into the driveway. The property, right on the water, was secluded with fire pit, plenty of seating and private rock beach that was visited every day by seagulls and a family of deer. The interior, while rustic, was comfortable and large enough to let our family of four spread out when needed. There were plenty of plates, pots/pans, utensils, spices and cleaning supplies. There was even a sampling of local soaps/shampoos that led us to visit the shop to purchase more for home. Fears of not having air conditioning in August were put to rest as the nice breeze from being on the water kept the interior cool. The location of this cottage was perfect for visiting the quieter Schoodic side of Acadia National Park but was about an hour drive from MDI and Bar Harbor. That was fine for us, so we could avoid the crowds and hike/explore in peace. One good thing to know is that everything in this area closes early so plan ahead to make sure you have everything needed for dinner/snacks. If we ever visit Maine again, we would stay at the cottage again.

Quaint cottage with beautiful views. Close to Schoodic Peninsula for hiking. Short walk from house to a larger beach. Wonderful, serene location.

Relaxing and exciting
Great little spot with private beach and lots of rocks to explore. Short walk to a community beach with low tide access to an island. Corea is a lobstering town so lots of lobster boats going by. A bit of a drive to Acadia/Bar Harbor.
Beautiful spots for sunrise or sunset. Hope to go again.

Great location if you want to be alone and quiet. Very relaxing.
We had a wonderful time with just a few small issues. The first night the bed in the master bedroom fell apart. Easy fix. No problem after that. There was a dvd stuck in the DVD player, so I hope you like “the talented Mr Ripley”😆 We barely watched tv during our stay so no biggie. Loved how remote we were. We both really needed that quiet time. The only disappointment was that we couldn’t open more windows. Would totally rent this place again. We didn’t want to leave and the sun rises are amazing.

Quiet & Secluded Getaway!
This is a lovely cottage to unplug and spend some quality time listening to the sounds of the waves lapping on the rocky beach (waterfront property! So amazing!).
However, if you need to be plugged in, the owners provide cable and internet. In fact, we had a connectivity issue and Melissa was easy to reach and stopped by the next day to check it out. It was just a loose wire, so that was a little embarrassing.
If you are traveling in a group, it definitely works but make sure you all are wanting the same vibe/be on the same timeline. Some of the cottage walls don't connect with the ceiling so if you are going to nap in the bedroom and others want to play games/be rowdy, that may not be the best situation.
Lots of kitchen tools/cookware/bakeware available to use during your stay, they graciously provide firewood for the outdoor firepit.
All in all, a wonderful place that I would rent again!

Just a wonderful place to visit, enjoy the sights, eat great food!
This was our 3rd consecutive year staying at Morningside. Prior to that, in 2017 we stayed in Easterly 1, another wonderful cottage Daniel and Melissa own. Cannot thank Daniel and Melissa enough for sharing their private, secluded, seaside cottage with us. Just a wonderful place to visit, enjoy the local sights, and eating great food! Already looking forward to our next visit in 2021.

As awesome as ever !
This property is a great joy every year we go there. All is very clean, pleasant decor, nice open floor plan; just love it all. Sunrise is beautiful; beach and yard are enjoyable with many deer every morning and night. Awesome ocean views everywhere on the property. Hearing the lobster boats first thing in the morning is so nice. The Schoodic Loop is always nice to go to, which is so close by. Being there this time was especially nice due to the pandemic; it was so needed to get away and feel safe. Thank you Melissa and Dan!

Perfection
This location cannot be beat for families with small kids. You own small little beach right outside. The views are amazing. Corea itself is not very populated. Expect to do your own cooking or drive 15-20 minutes for takeout. The kitchen has everything you need. I easily made an linguine and clams dish with local clams one night and was well equipped to do so. The cottage is rustic but extremely well appointed and clean. Melissa was a very responsive and helpful host. We felt so lucky to have found this spot and hope to be back really soon!

Lobster boat sunrises
Excellent waterfront cottage, located outside of the tourist rat race of MDI. great views and experiences. Several local favorite restaurants were closed due to current circumstances, but we were able to compromise.

Perfect, quiet, tranquil ocean cottage escape
This beach cottage was perfect for our Family of 4. Comfortable, cozy, cottage, with a perfect location steps to water and large yard too. Fall asleep to the crash of ocean waves and wake up to the sunrise and lobster boats doing their morning runs. Nice clean 2 bedrooms, open living room area. Great fire pit for nights overlooking the ocean. Access to plenty of firewood. Great little gas grill. Everything in great working condition. Take a Nice little stroll across the street, down a path to another larger beach to collect sea glass and sand dollars at low tide. Conveniently located 15 mins from Schoodic Peninsula of Acadia NP. And mostly importantly: The best part of trip according to my kids was the lobster boat tour with Melissa and Dan too. My kids loved it!

How Awesome It Was !!!!
This property and the owners are just the very best of the best !
Melissa and Dan, what a wonderful job trimming the trees at Morningside. The view of the ocean is now more panoramic than ever. The hydrangeas are just beautiful, as is the yard, the porch and everything else in-between. The interior of the cottage was, as always, clean and neat. Wonderful things to see like many deer first thing in the morning and early evening, the Schoodic Loop, which is just simply breathtaking, and just awesome for a walk, bicycle ride or for just to enjoy seeing the rocky coastline of Maine at its best. Thank you Melissa and Dan ! Will definitely be back.

Amazing house with beautiful Maine coastline off the beaten path
Absolutely incredible. From the scenery to the cleanliness of the house. We are grateful the owner provided firewood for the outdoor camp fire pit. We enjoyed looking for sea glass during every low tide.
Only thing I wish, is that I booked this house for an extra week! Can't wait to come back
