We have stayed here overnight once before and returned because we like it: the location is good - half-way between Bruton and Stourhead - and both room and restaurant have lovely views over fields to Alfred's Tower. Very nice, unpretentious home-cooked food in the restaurant and good choice of breakfast. Very friendly staff.

Lovely view of King Alfred's Tower from my room and the dining room. A warm welcome from Tom in the bar. Ann willingly provided an alternative vegetarian dinner option.
When I arrived the doors were locked and I had to phone and wait for someone to let me in.

The most amazing food. not eaten so well in a long time. proper home made dishes. very good breakfast with local ingredients. very friendly owners and a lovely old fashioned bar with open fire. Room was nice and spacious and shower was lovely.
could have done with a hairdryer in the room and some conditioner but they are just small things as everything else perfect.

Lovely clean modern accommodation. Bar is quirky around 200 years old. Food is some of the best I’ve had, home cooked by the owner and a good menu with excellent specials. Around 6M from Wincanton Racecourse.

The food for the evening meal and breakfast was delicious, home cooked and a good portion size. The room was quiet and comfortable despite being near a road. The pub itself had a very old and interesting bar. It was very cozy with the open fireplace too!
Check in could have been a little smoother- I had to shout to find someone as there was no reception area/ signs of where to go. Otherwise no complaints!

Problem with the WiFi, which was beyond their control. BT were there when I left, trying to resolve the issue.
