Lovely cottage with added bonus of parking. Ideal location for getting around the island and only 10 minutes drive to Ventnor with the local shops and beach front. Well equipped kitchen and large conservatory with really comfy sofa & chairs. Beautiful garden with mature shrubs etc. Bed was comfy. Bathroom/walk in shower was good size. Good size TV. However... it all needs a little updating and TLC. Lots of mis-matched hand-me-down items that didn't go or have any relevance to a country cottage/holiday let. No mirror over the chest of drawers and a tiny too-high-up mirror in the bathroom. The conservatory sofa covers were all faded from the sun. The old garden wooden chairs were uncomfortable and could do with seat pads. The cottage did look freshly painted in white everywhere and it was clean and a good location - its just the lack of care and detail that let it down.

We had a good time in this cottage. It was as the photo's show with everything we needed for our stay. The White Hore Pub in the village served good food which was excellent.

The conservatory is a lovely addition to the property and was very pleasant to sit in and enjoy the garden during September when the temperatures are slightly cooler. The second bedroom with twin beds is fine for children but could do with the addition of some lighting in the alcove when it’s used by an adult as this houses the built-in dressing table and is in a dark corner. There is limited hanging space above the dressing table for short items but this then interferes with use of the mirror, so a couple of hooks behind the door or on the wall to put some hangers would be a helpful addition. The description of the property quite clearly states that the stairs are steep and that the bathroom is located downstairs as this may be a problem for some; the kitchen is generally well equipped although possibly more knives and forks would be useful. There are some lovely walks from the property and an excellent grocery store with long opening hours in the next village. The pubs and inns round about offer excellent value for money eating with plenty of variety.

Pretty little cottage in a wonderful location. Lovely dog friendly garden which faces east which catches the sun from dawn till late afternoon. The cottage is great value but has very steep stairs which may not be easy for some.
We had fab weather which was perfect for walking. There are so many footpaths and tracks from the cottage, it is a lovely spot.

Comfortable cottage in lovely village
We thoroughly enjoyed our week in the cottage. It was ideal for our family of four and dog. It had everything we needed. The sun lounge provided additional space and the garden is enclosed and safe. The local pub did good food and there are lots of public footpaths from the village - we walked to and from Niton and Wroxhall (the latter was quite a hike). No shop but the one in Niton is excellently stocked. Good access to Ventnor and nowhere is far on IOW. We would happily return.

Cosy Cottage
This was a cosy cottage in a central location and was recommended to us by family who go regularly. Unfortunately on entry to the property and during the stay we found many cleanliness issues to include cobwebs and stray hairs, crockery dirty, marks on mirrors, food waste bin outside had not been emptied for a considerable amount of time.to name a few. These are not.things that the family members have encountered on their visit. The facilities within were very good, everything you would need including washing machine and hair dryer. We found the road nose quite bad as it is something we are not used to and also the speed that the cars/bikes go through the village at night were quite alarming. Ideal if you have a dog as lovely back garden and good walks nearby. Pub was great and even had a takeaway facility.

A six day holiday
I think more could be made of the fact that it is a down stairs bathroom as this could be a problem for people with mobility issues as it was with us. The stairs are very steep with quite a narrow tread. Having said that the cottage is very comfortable and the sun lounge a definite bonus.
The location is excellent, particularly for the south coast and many good walks from the property.

Great place for the money!
We have stayed in a variety of accommodation across the Isle of Wight over the last ten years, from caravans, lodges and houses. This cottage had everything we needed and was far lore competitively priced than a caravan break. Whilst the cottage felt sparse because the soft furnishings were removed for covid etc, it was comfortable for us. The conservatory was great for the family to use throughout the day into the evening and having a private garden was lovely. The only drawback was that the stairs were very steeper than I anticipated and I worried about my 8yr old on them, if someone had limited mobility then they would probably be an issue. Whilst I knew that the bathroom was downstairs, the steep stairs meant that I prayed no-one needed to use the loo in the night as my heart was in my mouth, although the owners provided torches in the bedrooms which was a lovely touch.

A good location. Well provided for
A good location and well stocked cottage. We had all we needed to have an enjoyable stay. A little sparse but that might be because of Covid.

Comfortable Cottage with Lovely Garden
A nice cottage with a very attractive garden, perfect for enjoying a leisurely breakfast and evening meal - weather permitting!
On our first two days the weather did permit, after that it was too cold and wet .. such a pity, but it was the end of Sept so any good weather was a bonus.
A spacious sun lounge which got lovely and warm when we had the sun but, sadly was too cold to sit in on the cold eveings. however that wasn't a problem as there was easy to control heating in the rest of the cottage- which included an alternative sitting room.
Given the restrictions caused by Covid the house was well equipped. We were warned in advance about the high-touch things like games and books, salt, pepper and coffee pots that had to be removed. We brought with us what we knew wouldnt be there and the kitchen was otherwise well equipped.
I personally would have welcomed some cushions since the armchairs and sofa were so luxuriously deep that I, being small, couldn't lean back in them - no problem for my much taller husband!
The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of drawer and wardrobe space for clothes.
We enjoyed taking advantage of the public footpaths that provided us with lovely walks straight from the cottage.
I should mention that the bathroom was downstairs - a bit of a problem for us, being in our 70s and prone to getting up in the night, but we managed ok - good torches provided in every room!

The cottage is conveniently situated & comfortable. Well equipped & very clean, with a good bathroom with thoughtful heater & heated towel rail. Lovely conservatory & beautiful garden. Just take care on the steep stairs.

A review of 2 Farm Cottages, Whitwell.
We loved staying in 2 Farm Cottages; it was an ideal holiday location to explore the Isle of Wight. Inside, the upstairs bedrooms were lovely and the beds really comfortable. They were light and clean. Downstairs, the bathroom was nice and big, with a shower, toilet and bath in a large area. The conservatory was ideal and we spent a lot of time there. The kitchen was fine, although a few more items (e.g. chopping board and kitchen utensils) would have helped. The provision of tea and coffee was good. The house is clearly well looked after.
The garden was good and we enjoyed eating out there a lot. It was a nice place to be. The table and chairs were fine. The neighbours were friendly, too.
The location of 2 Farm Cottages was ideal for exploring the Isle of Wight - and lots of local footpaths were great for walking to the coast or local woods. And it was close to the White Horse pub, too.
However, the car entrance was far too narrow between the brick pillars. We had not realised how hard it would be to park the car. at the property This resulted in our car receiving a gash on the left-hand side one day, when it scrapped one brick pillar This was very upsetting.

Very good location. Nice views. well equipped kitchen. Nice conservatory. Shower efficient but bathroom a long way from bedrooms. Didn't use the garden as too cold, but looked good and a table and chairs available. Village church interesting. Excellent pub nearby for good food.

A Simple Cottage
A fine, but fairly simple, cottage in a great location, with lovely views from the conservatory. Comfortable and well-equipped, but we missed having a teapot!!

A clean, pleasant well maintained cottage.
A clean, pleasant well maintained cottage with a really nice conservatory and enclosed garden with mature trees and plants. Very steep stairs to the bedrooms and a downstairs bathroom and shower. Ideal location for lots of walks. Good village with a really nice pub but unfortunately no shop. On bus route to Newport and Ventnor. Only suitable parking for one car.

Lovely cottage great position for attractions
2 Farm Cottages is very clean & provides everything you will need to make your holiday stay very comfortable. It is in the perfect location with attractions & days out on your doorstep, and others only 30 minutes away. The welcome pack was a lovely touch & full instructions were left for the cottage & local amenities. The pub down the road serves fantastic food at very reasonable prices, best to book a table & it's dog friendly.
There was 3 of us staying & 2 dogs and we had ample room in the cottage, the toilet is downstairs so a trip during the night is a little inconvenient but nothing that spoilt our stay. Also the stairs are a little steep but nothing we couldn't handle. Everything is provided in the cottage even towels.
We will miss sitting eating our breakfast in the garden with the fantastic views & just peace & quiet. The conservatory is a great place to unwind too.
Can highly recommend 2 Farm Cottages for a fabulous stay in The Isle of Wight.

Enjoyable stay at 2 Farm Cottages
My family plus dog had an enjoyable week staying at 2 Farm Cottages. The cottage was spacious, well equipped and very comfortable. Was nice having the conservatory to be able to enjoy the views when the weather wasn't playing it's part. Our dog was happy playing around in the garden.

A great property in a really handy location
This is a lovely house in a lovely little village. It’s well equipped and the garden and conservatory are the real selling point here. This is a well maintained holiday rental that has been well thought through for comfort and easy maintenance. There’s lots to do in the area and I would recommend it.

Great location
A lovely holiday cottage in a picturesque location. Food recycling caddy clearly not been collected from previous use as the contents had developed their own life forms! Communication not great from Island Holiday Homes though. Very quick off the mark to take pre-arrival holding deposit but far less efficient at confirming nothing was broken after we left and that no costs were being deducted. Company representatives helpful and friendly when contacted. This is the first time we have had to deal with an additional third party agent since using cottages.com and the additional layer of administration seems unnecessary. I may just book direct with Island Holiday Homes next time.

Lovely little cottage, we stayed there as a family of 4 and the children made full use of the garden
The process of renting the property was very straight forward. Everything was exactly as it said on the website.
The only part which we weren’t sure about was when the damage deposit was going to be taken out as this wasn’t made clear to us.

The benefits of the on site owner
Having had over 20 years experience with holiday cottages we have found that there is no substitute for the on site owner. They can add the personal touch and are on site to deal with any queries. On this holiday we were unable to get the television to work. We phoned the owner who was helpful and and offered suggestions. However in spite of these suggestions we were still not able to get the TV to function.- It could have been operator error (technology exasperates me). An on site person could have remedied this. It was no great inconvenience to us and we enjoyed the TV free week (others may not have done).

Relaxing break
We enjoyed the holiday very much, the dogs loved the great walks on your door step. There is a great pub just a 5 minute walk away that sells great food. The one and only drawback for us was the lack of upstairs loo.
