Parking: There is FREE parking in Wheeler's Bay car park below the start of St Catherine Street (conditions apply and subject to availability), via Wheeler's Bay Road. There is also pedestrian access via some steps leading directly from the car park into St Catherine's Street.

This Victorian seaside town offers buildings full of character and is one of the sunniest spots on the Island. There's lovely sand/shingle beach and an esplanade which is all within a short stroll from the cottage. In addition to the main shopping street where you will find a selection of small supermarkets to include a Co-op and Tesco Express, there are parks and gardens, museums and the Winter Gardens - an entertainment venue with a growing reputation for its theatre and concerts. The renowned Ventnor Haven Fishery at the marina sells the daily catch of fresh fish and seafood; boat trips are also available from here.

There are a number of great restaurants in Ventnor or if you fancy a take-away to enjoy by the beach, the Ventnor Haven Fishery on the Esplanade sell fantastic fish and chips, locally caught and prepared to order.

In addition to enjoying the lovely gardens, it also hosts events and exhibitions and there is a restaurant and Cafe on-site for refreshments; lunch or coffee and cake.

From the esplanade you can take the level walk, along the sea wall to Bonchurch, or walk along the cliff path towards Steephill Cove, a beautiful sheltered bay only accessed by foot.

The cottage was lovely; plenty of space for us and a well equipped kitchen. The beds were comfortable and the house very well cleaned. Despite awful weather, we enjoyed our stay on the IoW and the Salt Pot was a good bolt hole!

Comfortable and well-equipped holiday home
Comfortable and well-equipped holiday home
Couldn't have asked for more from a fully-modernised Victorian terraced house. Big kitchen-diner, comfortable lounge with Freeview TV, large master bedroom overlooking the sea, bathroom upstairs and shower wet room downstairs. Parking is away from the house, but there is a 24-hour car park a few steps away. Not so good for anyone with a physical disability, as the gradients to the seafront are very steep. A great experience and highly recommended.

Lovely stay in Ventnor
Lovely stay in Ventnor
With this trip booked from the day lockdown restrictions were lifted, we were a little uncertain of what to expect. It was a relief to find a clean, well kept property. The house is perfectly located and was very comfortable for my family of 5 (+ dog!). We were also very impressed by Island Holiday Homes. The 2 members of staff we spoke to were friendly and helpful and all emailed communication was very clear. I wouldn't hesitate to book with them again and would recommend The Salt Pot to anyone looking for a comfortable and centrally located stay in Ventnor.

Lovely property, great location
Lovely property, great location
My family and I had a lovely stay in the Salt Pot, it was very comfortable and well located for local amenities, all the Isle of Wight attractions (although nothing is ever far away on the island) and the sea front. The accommodation was comfortable and reasonably well kept. A little more attention to detail with the cleaning was needed to get rid of the resident spiders in the kitchen cupboard and around the living room but although it would bother some clean freaks it wasn't much of an issue for us.

The Salt Pot
The Salt Pot
Unfortunately The Salt Pot had not been cleaned. We waited until 5pm as requested so the house could have a double clean. No one had been in since the previous people had left. We had to stay in a hotel for the first night which was not a good start to the holiday. The door to the balcony was very difficult to lock, the shower screen broke and the gas hob was difficult to obtain a steady flame. The instructions for the use of the dvd could be improved. The house is well situated within an easy walk of Ventnor.
