About this cabin rental
WE'RE BACK! It's been a daunting and unprecedented time and we're so blessed to be able to offer Log Gap Cabin to guests again! WNC, though having suffered so much damage in so many areas, still has so much to offer. Autumn is here and the leaf colors are peaking! Log Gap Cabin is a wonderful spot to sit back, relax, enjoy some long range views, observe nature, and unplug from daily life for a while. Make plans soon to come visit - to rejuvenate yourself, as well as to help support the regrowth and rebuilding of our local towns. (4WD/AWD access only).
Serenity in the mountains - pleasant days, cool nights, Make plans now to visit Log Gap Cabin - it's off the beaten path and located just 15-20 minutes from Biltmore House, Asheville, Hendersonville, and access to the Blue Ridge Parkway (once the BRP reopens). 4WD or AWD is required - so bring your 'sense of Adventure' and don't be deterred because Log Gap Cabin's tranquil location is well worth the trek!
Log Gap Cabin was built with timbers that were hand-hewn in the 1800's. It is a truly special find, located only 14 miles from downtown Asheville, 12.4 miles from the Biltmore Estate, and the Blue Ridge Parkway is just 9.2 miles away. Due to the terrain of Flat Top Mountain (the cabin's home), 4WD or AWD is required year-round, however, don't let this deter you - Log Gap Cabin's peaceful location is well worth the trek!
Quaint, romantic, and tranquil, Log Gap Cabin sits on 3.5 acres, at the very end of a private, mountain gravel drive (with some areas of steeper grade). The Cabin's closest neighbor is Aerie (our other signature property), approximately 50 yards to the SSW. This amazing cabin features an upstairs bedroom loft with queen-size bed, plus a queen-size Futon in the Living Room. Relax in the comfort of premium quality cotton linens and wrap yourself in plush bathrobes which are provided for your convenience. The Living Room is comfy cozy with an awesome masonry stone fireplace and hardwood floors. The kitchen is nicely stocked with all of the modern conveniences – coffee maker, blender, toaster, microwave, stove/oven, dishwasher, refrigerator, dishware, cookware, bake ware, and utensils. If you're unable to 'unplug', don't worry, there is WIFI, and 2 flat-screen TVs. We hope, however, that you'll spend the majority of your stay enjoying nature's serenity and the quiet of the mountain. The property offers several options perfect for relaxation: the fire-pit outdoor seating area featuring a 2-person Amish swing and Adirondack chairs from which you can see Bearwallow Mountain in the Spring and Winter; the L-shaped, screened-in porch which features 18" wide-planed pine boards, a cafe-style table and chairs, and soothing, relaxing rocking chairs; or enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner on the open deck furnished with an outdoor table, four chairs, and umbrella. Best of all, enjoy dessert under the stars, soaking your cares away, in the 4-person hot tub situated on the main entry flagstone patio, bordered by solar powered evening accent lights.
Do beware of visitors, though - it's not uncommon to see some of our local deer and black bear families, wild turkeys, busy little chipmunks, chattering squirrels, and a variety of songbirds. You may also catch sight of a box turtle or some of our salamanders and 5-lined skinks. During the day, you'll hear the choruses of songbirds, and the occasional call of a red-tail hawk. At night, you may be fortunate enough to hear the nearby 'hoot' of owls, see a raccoon, opossum, or flying squirrels. And, if you're really lucky, you may even glimpse sight of a bobcat.
There are two grocery stores within 7 miles of the Cabin: Food Lion (5.0 miles, here in Fairview) and Ingles (7.2 miles, at the bottom of Minehole Gap, in the Reynolds District). There is a CVS store off of I-240 at River Ridge, and if you wish, you can travel west on I-40 to Highway 25 (Hendersonville Road) where you'll find Publix, a more 'modern' Ingles, Fresh Market, Starbucks, as well as a variety of local restaurants (Tupelo Honey, Farm Burger, Asheville Pizza and Brewery (take-out only), 12 Bones Smokehouse, Apollo Flame ... oh, and don't overlook The Local Joint, Whistle Hop, and Turgua Brewery right here in Fairview.).
A few cautionary notes:
We are occasionally visited by coyotes, and the WNC mountains are home to a few species of venomous snakes (Copperheads and Rattlers) so if you happen upon one, be sure to steer clear, giving them a wide berth. And, while wondrous to see, our neighboring black bears can be dangerous if traveling through with cubs or caught unaware.
Feel free to enjoy cool evenings out by the fire-pit. Do note, however, that during extremely dry conditions, use of the fire-pit may not be possible due to local Buncombe County 'burn bans' - we will do our best to notify you of these conditions, but please also check with Host to confirm that the fire-pit can be used during your stay. As outlined in the House Rules - no ashes from any of the fire apparatuses are to be dumped outside (fireplace, fire-pit, and grill) - The Host will dispose of any ashes after your departure.

Amazing place had wonderful time. Made our anniversary so special for my wife and I. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a place to get away from it all. The peace and quiet was amazing, just to hear nature.

This was my first stay at this location, and I’m making plans to return next year! Absolutely loved it!!!

The cabin was just what we were looking for as we visited the Ashville area. Very private but close enough to see the area attractions. We spent three days there and the cabin was ver well provisioning and we enjoyed the extra touches.

Very clean and cozy retreat.

Log Gap Cabin is the perfect getaway. Quiet and secluded but still close enough to downtown. 4WD/AWD is needed to get to the cabin, but for us, that only added to the appeal.
The cabin was comfortable and clean with great views. We really enjoyed the mountain views during the day and stargazing in the hot tub at night.
Kyle and Julie were great hosts. Their attention to detail is unmatched. Highly recommend!

This place was incredibly done with attention to every detail! We had the best time. Beautiful views and adorable place.
Super cozy and clean. Hot tub had a great view of the beautiful sky and look forward to staying again!
The fire place was the best bonus.
The only minor issue was with the hot tub only would do one round of bubbles.. then wouldn’t let us cut back on. Might have been a setting not sure? But beautiful place

We were thankful to return to Log Gap Cabin again this year. Everything was perfect -- the well-stocked kitchen, wood-burning fireplace with firewood, cozy couch, comfortable bed, nicely appointed bathroom, all held together in a historic log cabin that has been lovingly restored and nestled in the woods. This is one of our favorite places; the quiet and solitude is unmatched, and yet Asheville and nearby hiking is easily accessible. We hope to return again next year to rest and recharge!

My wife and I enjoyed an anniversary getaway at Log Gap Cabin. We came for all of the listed amenities, and we were not disappointed. However, it's the little details that really make this place shine:
The kitchen is fully stocked with every piece of cookware, utensils, and small appliances that you'd ever need. It's like Kyle and Julie anticipated every need. The filtered well water was amazing, and who knew how wonderful an ice maker would be on vacation?!?
The hot tub, grill, deck, and umbrella exterior seating areas are perfect. (The bench for the hot tub cover is *chefs kiss* ... something I never knew I needed.) I didn't get to use the grill, but every utensil is covered -- of course. We got a lot of use out of the rockers and small dining table in the screened-in porch.
In a world where mountain cabins have window units for HVAC, the two mini-splits in this cabin are truly luxurious. We didn't get to use the fire pit or fireplace, but can't wait to come back when it's colder.
The cabin is close to everything (only 25 minutes from downtown) but is definitely a destination in itself.
Note to future visitors --- the 4WD/AWD requirement is real, but doesn't imply off-roading. Our AWD SUV handled things easily, but it's not something you want to try in a 2WD sedan or pickup. The seclusion is totally worth the extra effort to get there!

Was a amazing stay just the journey up and down the mountain was stressful due to incoming and outgoing traffic using the same area

Very private and cozy. Gives you a great understanding of the NC woods and terrain. Owner was available to answer questions and the banana bread was amazing!

This was exactly what my husband and I needed to rest, relax and rejuvenate. The hosts pay attention to detail: from communication, to providing very specific details, directions and information; and from personal touches to great amenities and comfort. We loved our time! The cabin was beautiful and comfortable for us! A few things I'd offer (which just reiterate the owner's information!):
- A 4WD or AWD is an absolute must--you won't get to the cabin in a sedan. I'd recommend getting there in daylight if you aren't comfortable driving in gravel / switchbacks.
- This is a great couples getaway--fire pit, hot tub, so relaxing.
- This is a bit farther from DT Asheville (20-25 min), but accessible great options in little towns, hiking, breweries and outdoor activities. Grocery store, etc. We loved the location.
- Can't say enough about the little touches and communication from the owners. Perfection! Thanks for sharing your beautiful mountain cabin with us--you made our anniversary trip really amazing!

We booked this cabin due to it being far enough from the city to enjoy the peace and quiet, yet close enough to enjoy many of Asheville’s major attractions.
We found the cabin easily and enjoyed the nice gift left by the property owners.
The cabin is beautifully decorated and has a few personal touches. The kitchen came stocked with pots and pans which were much appreciated since we enjoy cooking breakfast each morning.
The hot tub was a dream and much needed from the miles of walking we did everyday.
This property was the perfect size for our small growing family, and if we ever find ourselves traveling to Asheville again we will absolutely consider staying here again.

Highly recommended! Quaint, quient cabin in a beautiful mountain setting. Attention to detail is the standard at this cabin. Between the firewood, linens, and treats, no stone was left unturned. Definitely recommend AWD or 4WD. Instructions were clear and accurate. Great quient getaway for a romantic weekend.

This was a perfect mountain getaway. It is secluded but close to all that Asheville has to offer. We will definitely stay there again and recommend to others.
The cabin was well appointed and very clean. Not that we needed them during our stay, but the hosts were very responsive to the couple of preliminary questions I had. The little touches like homemade banana bread and a hand written thank you note were nice and showed that the hosts pay attention to details.
Can’t wait to go back!

My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon, and to say we GOT the mountain experience is no exaggeration. It was absolutely wonderful. The Cabin was very cozy, perfect for a couple to stay. Definitely get your four wheel vehicle. It was a bit scary at first but you get the hang of the drive after going up and down a few times. Super exilerating area, extremely beautiful and peaceful. And you're at a good location to do a lot of things around without it being a crazy long drive. The hosts gave us amazing banana bread, pound cake, little Hersheys, and a wine bottle as a congratulations too! They were simply amazing, very accommodating. We did not want for anything besides just getting our own groceries. We practically lived in those robes our entire stay. Thanks so much, we can't wait to come back to stay again!

This was our second time staying at Log Gap Cabin and we loved every minute of it! It’s so peaceful and serene but yet not too far from shopping, restaurants and breweries. Looking forward to returning again soon!

The cabin was so clean, cozy, and charming. We had everything we needed to sleep comfortably, cook a few meals, enjoy a roaring fire, and relax.

If getting away from it all is your goal, look no further. Excellent communication with property owner before and during our 3 day stay. Well stocked and very clean property. Wood burning fireplace was set up (sans flame, of course) and ready for our first fire upon arrival. White bathrobes and yummy banana bread provided were a very nice touch. Description of property was very accurate. Felt like we were remote and only 25 minute drive to Asheville. Definitely need that 4WD/AWD vehicle to access property. Access road to cabin is steep and a single lane. You get used to it after a drive up or two. Would stay here again.

Great little cabin way up a stone mountain road. Bring your sense of adventure! Peaceful quiet and secluded. Hot tub and fire pit. Perfect for a couple to get away and enjoy each other's company. Close enough to asheville and the surrounding attractions but far enough away for relaxation and privacy.

I cannot say enough good things about this place and the owners of the the house. It was the cutest, cleanest, most accommodating place we have ever stayed! The cabin had everything you needed and the banana bread the owner left was really big and delicious. It was our anniversary, so when we got there the owner had wine and chocolates waiting for us. It was a rainy weekend, so we could not do as much hiking as we wanted, but it was still so nice to stay at this cozy cabin. It was so relaxing hearing the rain hit the tin roof. The hot tub was really nice. We enjoyed sitting on the screened in porch as well. If you like coffee, there’s a really good coffee shop right down the road, called DayMoon. And Asheville is really close. We were able to do a lot downtown the first day when there was no rain. The tv downstairs was a smart tv that had Netflix, prime, and more on it, so really no need to bring your own fire stick or Roku. This place was amazing, and we will definitely be coming back! : )

This cabin is nothing short whimsical. Its charming yet modern with all the warm touches. It's tucked away but still close to so many necessities. A quick drive to Asheville and Hendersonville with great little stops in between. The perfect get balance between nature and civilization. A wonderful experience! Will definitely be coming back.

Definitely a remote cabin which is exactly what we wanted! Still only about 25 minutes to Asheville so we got mountains and cool town. Best of both worlds!

Great Weekend Getaway
We booked this for our wedding anniversary. Cabin was nice and clean. Looked just like the photos. The owners did a great job stocking up the cabin with everything you would need. They even baked some delicious banana bread as a welcoming gift. The road to was a little dicey but once you do it a few times it's pretty easy. The cabin was nice and secluded but it looks like they are building another home very close by. Would definitely stay again

Beautiful location, great experience. You definitely need a 4-Wheel drive vehicle to get there.
Great experience. Would do again.

Perfect Secluded Getaway
My wife and I stayed here for our 10th anniversary. The place is amazing! It is as stated! Very cozy and secluded near the top of a mountain. The host left us banana nut bread as well as wine and chocolate for our anniversary. The hot tub was amazing! You will not be disappointed with this place! And don’t forget the four wheel drive!
