The design of this house is very cool and there are lots of places to sit and relax, primarily outdoors. Malin, the on-site property manager is absolutely fantastic! (Christophe was out of town) She was so helpful, kind and friendly - she's truly a gem.
We didn't love our stay here for a few reasons.
1- the description says you are in the jungle which you most definitely are. But you need to understand what that means and it's more than 'minor disagreements' to some people. There are trees all around touching the house so there are ants everywhere, crabs get into the house, spiders, moths, geckos, iguanas, and bats from our experience.
2- nightly power outages which means the bedroom without A/C is pretty miserable. It's also VERY dark and there were no candles, or flashlights on the property. Luckily Malin brought over a couple of hers to lend to us.
3- leaky roof. There were multiple leaks in the roof (master bedroom onto the bed, sitting area in the master, and multiple leaks in the kitchen) The large leak in the kitchen has apparently been there for some time and the host/owners have known about it. We hope those will be fixed for the future. It's not fun at all during the rainy season.
4 - VRBO customer service is absolutely terrible and we won't use them ever again.
It's very close to the beach and the beach is awesome! Lots of surfing and body-boarding - super fun! Playa Negra is a relaxed small town so the vibe is very chill.

We had a wonderful time at the house. Everything was as we expected and the Malin & Christophe were always around when we had questions or needed suggestions. The only thought we had that could have made our stay even better was more beach equipment like sand toys or boogie boards. I think some sort of beach umbrella or tent might have made our stay easier with younger children. But generally, the house was so close the beach that we got by without it.
Thanks for a great time!

What a wonderful home in Paradise. The photos don't do it justice. I travelled with a group of 6 and there was plenty of room and more for us. We didn't even use some areas of the house. It was very clean and quiet and private. Our property managers, Malin and Christophe are lovely people. They were very helpful when we needed them. We had a flat tire on one of our vehicles and Christophe responded instantly to our text for assistance, The property is less than a 5 minute walk to the beach. We also had Christophe and Malin cook dinner for us one evening which was fantastic. We wished we had done this on more than one occasion.
The pool is kept very clean with daily maintenance. I am sure I am missing something. We all loved this beautiful home and would highly recommend it. I can't wait to go back!

Great space for our family holiday. Wonderful outdoor areas for everyone - room for everyone together or spread out if you like. The pool was a real asset and the whole family enjoyed Casa Ganesha. We all loved how close it was to a beautiful beach where we could choose to surf or boogie board. Malin and Christophe were very friendly and helpful hosts.

Our stay at Casa Ganesha was beyond amazing and the home, casita, grounds and pool are even more spectacular than the listing portrays. The beach is one of the nicest we have ever visited, and you are very close to some great local restaurants within minutes of the house. If you don’t want to leave, you can also access the Hotel restaurant and bar. They have surf boards for rent, but they were not the best quality.
We were so fortunate to have Christophe and Malin cook for us one night. Afterwards we insisted they join us for a glass of wine out on the deck…they are such lovely people! They are the most amazing and gracious hosts, and there for you for whatever you might need. Don’t miss a day at Lola’s restaurant about 10 minutes north…great food and another beautiful beach. We thoroughly LOVED our visit and would love to come back.
***One side note to consider…you ARE in the jungle and the monkeys are fun to see. BUT…the howlers start very early in the am and they are incredibly loud. But…they are not there every single night thank goodness lol! Also, the master is not air conditioned, but most nights it seemed to cool down nicely…but not every night. So, if you are a light sleeper, or don’t do the heat, you may want to choose one of the other three rooms with AC.
Enjoy your stay! Pura Vida!!!

My family and friends, 7 of us, stayed 12 days at Casa Genisha (the tree top house). It was an amazing trip and the house was beyond our expectations. Such a fun property for families to stay in. It was relaxing and beautiful. The kids loved the pool and it was so cool to see the local monkeys that hung out in the trees. The quick walk to the beach was perfect and the resturant at plya negra was a life saver with great food and fun atmosphere. The care takers of the house, Malin and Christophe, provided 5 star service. We booked a few excursions from the surf shop on the property, so convenient. The sunsets from the beach were magnificent. There were other places to eat within a 10 min walk from the house. Tamarindo was about a 40 min drive from the house. The little community the house is in at Plya Negra was very friendly and quaint. We will be back for sure and would recommend it if your looking for something not in the heart of Tamarindo, it was such a great place to stay.

Just go back from a week stay with another family of 4 and we'll definitely be back!
- the house is incredible! 3 living spaces that are fairly separated in the house. The house is made up of 2 structures, separated by a large deck. We stayed in one side of the house with our 2 kids and our friends stayed in the other side with their kids. There's tons of space with many outdoor sitting areas that are shaded and very spacious. All spaces have comfy lounge chairs, day beds and hammocks. The pool area has been landscaped and is shaded by mid afternoon when you want to get the kids out of the sun. There is a really nice outdoor shower right beside the pool.
- There's lots wildlife around the house. On our way into the house, at about midnight, we passed a group of horses just strolling down the road. We saw iguanas, geckos, lots of birds, tons of cool insects and a group of howler monkeys spent the day in a mango tree right off the pool patio one day. Incredible!
- the area is pretty remote in the best way. Not many people on the beach, that's about 200 feet away from the house. There are many other beaches in the area in addition to small grocery stores, cafes and restaurants. Tamarindo was about a 30 minute drive.
- One bonus is that that there is a small resort right next door that with a simply, but tasty food/drink menu. We'd often go to the beach to boogie board and swim, then hit up the restaurant for drinks and lunch while the kids swam in the pool. Also, you can rent boogie and surf boards from the resort and there are regular yoga classes on offer.
- the owners (Serge and Michelle) were great to deal with and were nice enough to drop by one day and tell us about the property and area. They had the house built about 15 years ago and you can tell they take a lot of pride in the property and the beautiful gardens on the property.
- the hosts (Christophe and Milan) live right beside the house and were incredibly responsive, kind and professional. Christophe cooked for us on multiple occasions and is a very skilled chef. Milan was very quick getting back to us with requests or information about the area. My wife also booked a massage with her and was very satisfied.
We'll definitely be back!

Most amazing house ever!
This is my second time renting this house. It’s truly amazing. It’s beautiful and luxurious without being an over the top California beach house. It’s a house that makes you live in a different way, closer to the outside and the elements. You live comfortably outside while there. You feel healthier by the time you leave, truly relaxed. We will be booking a return trip for next year within the month. Playa Negra is our happy place.

Great location, wonderful clean home, great floor plan for families or couples. Care takers are great hosts and close by to attend to everything we needed. We will be back!

End of the road slice of paradise
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay on Playa Negra. Our group had ages from 3 to 79 and all had great time! All was as expected and the kids loved all the critters that were about, especially the visits from the howler monkeys. And the catered dinner from Christoph, the chef, and massages from Malin, the property managers, took the whole experience to the next level! We will be back!

A rare gem in Playa Negra
Casa Ganesha is so special. It is clear that every room/space was lovingly thought out for the most magical Pura Vida experience. From the master bedroom to the outdoor lounge areas to the pool and the outdoor shower - we felt swept away from the hustle and bustle of our daily lives.
The house is just a short walk to a beautiful beach with the most amazing sunsets. The house managers - Malin and Christoph were so kind and provided a wealth of information about the surrounding area. Malin made it possible for us to see the release of newly hatched sea turtles and it was a highlight of our vacation!
As an added bonus the house Is within the property of the Playa Negra hotel with all the amenities and restaurant available for our use.
We had an amazing stay at Casa Ganesha and hope to return!

Amazing property in paradise!
From the first time we got there until the last moment we left it was incredible. The house managers were quick to respond to any requests. We got massages from Mailin and had a great conversation with Kristof and her as well. It’s a two minute walk to the beach from the steps of the house the beach is uncrowded and has amazing waves. Hotel Playa Negra restaurant great food good people and no crowds. I would highly recommend both this house and pia Negra for family vacation if you like to relax and enjoy the beach.

Family of 6 spring break vacation!
Everything about Casa Ganesha was amazing! The house is beautiful and huge! It fit our family of 6 very easily and could accommodate many more! All of the open decks and outdoor spaces were perfect! The pool was awesome and deep and so fun for kids to play in. The location to the beach is just a short walk past some horses! The short walk to the hotel was also wonderful! Being able to use their pool, restaurant and other amenities was wonderful. The house managers, Malin and Christophe, were perfect! They checked on us every day and helped us with anything we needed! We had Christophe cook a meal for us one evening which was the best experience and such amazing food! Highly recommend doing that! Malin offers massages and yoga which is also so amazing! We loved this house and people so much we will definitely be back!

The best of both hotel + private home
We had such an amazing stay at this house... it's great because you're within the property of the Hotel Playa Negra and have access to the restaurant, pool etc. but also have your own kitchen, pool, etc. We spent a ton of time in the outdoor deck off the kitchen and loved it. The hosts were incredible -- extremely helpful, communicative and super friendly <3 It's about a 3 minute walk from one of the best beaches around. We would absolutely come back!

FANTASTIC
It is hard to sum-up the experience we just had at Casa Ganesha and Playa Negra. The house is exquisite and one of the most unique places you'll ever stay in. From the kitchen, to the linens, to the water pressure, to the furnishings, to the wifi service and on and on, truly, no detail left undone. The place is immaculate and situated in a gated community that provides a safe, tropical beachfront setting that is second-to-none.
What really made the stay special were the on-site property managers, Christophe and Malin, two wonderful people that are a wealth of information and ready to help. Beyond that, they are just nice people who are fun to speak with and be around. We should also mention Allison, the housekeeper: equally nice, punctual, thorough and willing to help.
In short, we'd go back in heartbeat. Thanks to Serge and Michelle for communicating with us throughout the process. It was this constant line of communication that really helped to build the confidence that the property was everything it was billed to be.

Amazing house and location, but a little buggy.
I can't say enough good things about this property. Close enough to the beach to hear the surf on the deck, monkeys hooting and hollering in the morning, the pool was cool and refreshing. The hosts were very helpful and friendly, and definitely book the private yoga sessions and massages! We tried to book the private chef services but had too many picky eaters and/or food allergies to arrange a single menu. But the menu options looked amazing! There are iguanas that live on the roof that were super cute (we named them Pedro and Iggy), and little adorable geckos on the ceilings that make the cutest little chirps. The house itself is gorgeous, no detail was overlooked. It has a very eco-house feel. The walk-in rain showers were a huge group favorite, and the outdoor shower was perfect for rinsing off the beach sand before getting in the pool.
My only complaint, and this is nothing the hosts or owner could prevent, is the bugs. None of us (4 girls) are bug people (we scream and run) and due to the open concept and location of the house (it's a freaking rainforest) there is a definite bug problem. I did see the pool boy spraying the property, so I know they make an attempt to reduce their numbers, but there were many screams and evenings resorted to spending in the bedrooms instead of on the amazing deck due to larger-than-we-were-comfortable-with bugs.
That was literally the only downside to this amazing property. If you don't care about bugs, or think you can handle them better than were could, definitely book this property! It's a gorgeous house with perfect hosts, clean, air-conditioned (mostly), fun showers, refreshing and clean private pool, monkeys, mango trees, close to the beach and a restaurant within walking distance (Hotel Playa Negra restaurant), close enough to a larger town for grocery store, shopping, and dining purposes, but far enough away from civilization to feel remote and secluded. The beach was not crowded (June), and a few times we actually had the beach to ourselves. Hope this review helps!!

Fun for the family and great Surf!
You can't beat the location for surf! Beach is great for kids at low tide. The house has gates that are excellent for containing little ones and keeping them away from the pool. We had kids from 0-6 and had a blast... I would recommend this house.

We absolutely loved our stay at Casa Ganesha. It is such a beautiful house and Playa Negra was so special. We loved the big outdoor living room and spent hours in it playing cards, visiting, reading. The pool was so clean and refreshing and we loved the outdoor showers. The kids loved all the hammocks. We slept in the master most nights that is screened so you can hear the ocean and palm trees. A couple nights we slept in one of the downstairs bedrooms for the AC. We were there during the hottest time of the year so I don't imagine needing the AC when it is cooler but it was nice to have the option. The beds were comfy and the kitchen had everything we needed. The kids loved all the iguanas, frogs, monkey and birds around the property. The kids surfed every day at the sandy beach and loved watching the big surfers in front of the hotel. We ate at the restaurants most mornings for breakfast and ventured out for dinner. Kon Tikki we highly recommend as well as Cafe Playa Negra. We also had a blast getting burgers at the Sunday night skate park. Playa Negra is very remote and rustic which is part of what makes it so special. There is a slowness and quietness to it that you can't find in Tamarindo. We did yoga most mornings with a view of the ocean. The people who worked at the hotel were so nice. We were there 9 nights and were so sad to leave! Highly recommend and want to come back in the future!

This was the perfect home for our group. We had seven adults and three kids and all families had their space. We used the upstairs master suite as a two bedroom place because of the setup with a separate sleeping area. Walking distance to the beach, had its own private pool which is best for adults with older kids because it’s deep, but you also have access to the hotel pool which is shallow and great for younger kids. The house was very clean upon our arrival, the appliances and kitchen items worked great and most cooking utensils were well stocked. Judy, the property manager was very easy to reach and she was very helpful during our stay. We highly recommend this home as a great option for groups or families wanting to stay in Playa Negra.

Even though we had a snafu with our flight getting in at a decent we arrived late but letting Serge know of our delay everything was handle for our late arrival.

Grateful to be at Ganesha
Casa Ganesha reminds you of how life should be all the time: peaceful, connected to nature, connected to others in the house and in the community. The house and pool are immaculate, and the house service is generous and professional. We savor every minute at Ganesha and look forward to returning.

Casa Ganesha is fabulous!
After searching and searching for a place to accommodate our two families of four we choose Casa Ganesha. So glad we did! Everything about it was perfect! Although we spent most of our time in the outdoor space (my favorite) there was tons of space for everyone. The beach (gorgeous!) is a 2-3 min walk and you can see & hear the ocean from the deck. The pool was great to cool off in after coming in from the beach or after dark. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you need. The house is part of the hotel property so you also get a restaurant and beach bar. Plus, there are several great restaurants near by or a short car ride away. Blu was a favorite! Can’t wait to go back!

Pictures don't do it justice
My family and I had a fabulous stay here in February. The weather was perfect about 90° everyday. The property was amazing! The pictures do not do it justice. It has so much space and was kept very clean and tidy throughout our stay. The pool was wonderful and had nice shade throughout the day. We enjoyed walking to the beach and swimming in the waves. It was a perfect place to stay with a large group and was so peaceful with very few crowds in the area.

Wow this place is an absolute gem!
I cannot say enough great things about this house. We had 4 couples stay for a week and loved it. The location is perfect - 5 minute walk to a gorgeous stretch of beaches; 1 to 1.5 hours drive from Liberia airport on easy to drive (mostly paved) roads; a few minutes walk to a restaurant on the beach at Playa Negra hotel; and a few minutes drive (or 15 minute walk) to Playa Negra Cafe (highly recommend), Jalapeños (great spot for wraps, tacos, coffee), and a pizza spot. The house itself is beautiful and large - more than enough space for our group, 3.5 bathrooms, a beautiful pool that gets shade in the morning and sun in the afternoon, a few hammocks around to relax in, a well stocked kitchen, and a great communal area with a huge comfortable outdoor sofa and a table that seats 8. One of the 4 bedrooms has two single beds instead of a queen or king, but we pulled the mattresses together and had no issues. Absolutely recommend staying here!

Beautiful home!
My family and I spent a week at Casa Ganesha. It is a beautiful home, well maintained, and having every amenity you may require. The owner responded quickly to my emails and the property manager was always available and responded immediately. We loved the people, the food, the setting, the beach, and the home. We will definitely return for another visit. Thank you Serge, Michele, and Judy for a wonderful vacation experience!

Beautiful house in a great location
This beautiful house was perfect for our family and Judy, the property manager, was super helpful. Location was close to a great surf break and the hotel restaurant was good and convenient. We appreciated the location even more after we drove up to Tamarindo one afternoon and realized how peaceful and quiet Playa Negra was compared to the Tamarindo mayhem. The family of iguanas living on the roof provided much entertainment - who needs TV!

Beautiful house, perfect location, everything we needed and more
House was big and beautiful, all amenities worked well, landscaping and backyard was on point, path outside leads right to beach, 2 min walk. Landlord and property manager were quick to reply if we needed anything... I’d highly recommend this spot!

Great house and location!
The houses is great and beautiful, as well as huge. Has all the amenities you may need. Judy the house manager was available and friendly. A problem with one of the AC units was fixed in a few hours. The pool is also great. 5m walk from the wonderful Playa Negra beach. The whole area is on the quiet and relaxed side of things, MUCH nicer than the busier Tamarindo area which is about 40m drive away.

The perfect getaway
I stayed at Casa Ganesha with a group of friends for a week in July. It was the perfect rental in one of our favorite locations. The home was clean, beautiful, private and safe. I hope to return to Casa Ganesha again. Thank you Serge and Michele! Staying in your home was a treat!

Amazing home and great service/management

Best House and best location
The house grounds and decor are even more beautiful in person. This was our second time visiting and everything was just as perfect as it was the first time! The house is steps away from the beach as well as the Hotel
Playa Negra restaurant, where we ate dinner almost every night. The housekeeper Jennifer does an amazing job and the house has everything you could want for a comfortable stay.
Thank you Serge for sharing your beautiful home!

Surf paradise
Beautiful home that captures what one seeks in a Costa Rican vacation. Wonderfully accommodating owner and manager. Staff cleans throughout our week. Most importantly it is a very short walk to a world-class surf break. Great time for whole family, surfers and non-surfers alike.

Retreat from the world
Casa Ganesha is a haven, so close to the beach but also a perfect place to sit out the heat of the day with a good book in the hammock. You can see the surf take-off spot from the decks and hear the waves over the tropical breeze, but still have perfect privacy and peace. The proximity to the Hotel is so convenient: dine in the open-air restaurant or cook at home in the full-size kitchen.

Didn't want to leave!
What a wonderful experience. Casa Ganesha is an amazing house. The house is in a great location, private and well stocked. Being on the hotel grounds is an added bonus, being able to use the pool and restaurant. Sunset cocktails are a must!
The property manager Judy was fantastic, helping us organize babysitting, activities and in-house chefs. Serge was also very responsive to any questions we had prior to arrival.
For surfers, the main break is fantastic and the locals friendly. For beginners, the sandy beach 200 yards south is perfect and the hotel surf shop rents soft boards. For kids, the rock pools at low tide provide hours of entertainment.
November was a great time to visit, the weather was perfect and the beach uncrowded.
We would recommend Casa Ganesha to anyone wanting a relaxing vacation in paradise.

piece of paradise
we were a group of 4 couples, 2 millennial couples and 2 baby boomer couples (relatives) sharing this magnificent property. The upper deck was the perfect spot for all of us to connect for conversations, games, wildlife spotting and meals, but we each has lots of places to escape to, when needed. The pool was stunning and comfortable at any time of day or night. The casa is located within grounds of hotel playa negra, so able to run a tab on food or drinks for the week, which was really nice. Food was excellent at hotel and would also recommend villa deevena, vida la buena and cafe negra. Be sure to pick up groceries before arriving, as closest grocery of any size is in santa cruz or tamarindo. Also, be sure to follow directions to casa given by management, don't rely on GPS, as missing crucial last number, which put us at a rushing creek over the road that we almost were foolish enough to go through, until we turned around and called for help. the beach just to the left from the restaurant at the start of the black sand was amazing for body and boogie board surfing. Alex was an excellent surfing instructor for the younger generation, but be sure to keep watch of your gear. We neglected this warning and my daughter had $50.00 in colons stolen and I had my prescription sunglasses taken. This was rather a shock as everyone we met seemed so hospitable and friendly. We did the volcano walk tour as a group which was amazing and the kids did the combo tour which was very fun, but the best times were walking the beach and beach path and seeing the howler monkies, the butterflies and the crabs along the way. This setting is somewhat secluded, but was perfect for us. We drove into tamarindo 1 day (35min drive) and hated the crowds and the touristy-ness of the place. If you want authentic and peaceful CR, playa negra and casa ganesha is your place!!!
