Accessible, friendly and comfortable.
Stale smell in room.

The staff were lovely to deal with and very helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Bistro type restaurant on site with good quality food. Close to the war memorial which was the reason for our stay.
The room was old and dated. The sash window in our room was broken and was left open (in winter…brrr). We were on the second floor, with no lift that we were told of, had to lug our big cases upstairs.

More informed about cost of watching movies. Nothing was mentioned until check out that had a cost of $35 for movies. Also dinner at the restaurant I ordered a sirloin steak I got rump instead and was very tough to eat and cold

The extremely hard bed. The amount of noise from doors banging and slamming. Too much light entering the room

Everything was good and it is beautiful
No lifts and I asked for a balcony but was allocated a room without one

Great location. Pet friendly room was good
Staff could do with some training on how to greet guests
4.5
Ease of getting around the city as the location of the hotel is very central.
The receptionist didn't allow me to use the microwave to heat the food which I had as a takeaway from outside quoting that it could be poisonous. Hearing her was making me sick how one can be so robotic at operations and can't understand that 40-50 seconds of usage of the microwave can save someone's night to have a dinner in peace. Otherwise, everything else was good.

Mercure Canberra is a classic old style building with great heritage for a young city. The room was reasonable, they had a great breakfast room, a pub for dinners and easy access to Canberra's attractions.

Second stay in this hotel and it again did not dissapoint us. I booked loft room with balcony which was spacious and comfortable. All was nice and clean. Also having a breakfast in the morning was a big plus, especially when travelling with children.
4.5
The location is excellent, a very short walk to the city centre with all the shopping venues and restaurants. Easy to walk over to the war memorial as well. The staff was very friendly and also provided some tips on things to see and do. Would come and stay again next time we come to Canberra.
The wifi was not very strong in our room.

Grounds, common areas need better presentation, covered up graffiti need to be removed or painted over on outside walls Batman st side.
3.5
The location to the city centre.
Sketchy housing commission homes & units across the road & in next block. We didn’t feel comfortable walking in the area.
2.5
Location, breakfast staff were lovely
Receptionist was a little stern, room dated
4.5
Could have done with a lift but given that it was an older style place that was minor. It was still great and definitely would stay there again
4.5
We were upgraded to a Superior King Room.
The room was very spacious, with separate loft bedroom & ensuite, and also included a kitchenette.
Everything about our stay either met or exceeded expectations; cleanliness of room & facilities; great location in proximity to CBD; heritage architecture; secure parking; good value for money.
Not much - one of the split system air conditioners was slightly noisy.
2.5
The location of the hotel
The King size bed was so uncomfortable, the mattress was too hard
Charged for parking, should be complimentary for club members

Staff and location
Shower overflows, poor internal signage, room not cleaned properly, TV too high up the wall, towels smell of too much bleach, very uncomfortable lounge chair.

room is big.
The AC was old and noisy.

Ambiance of the Central courtyard garden, simple but good buffet breakfast and secure carpark. Pleasant 15-20 minute walk to the central civic shopping precent. Surprised at the extra costs for parking and price of watching movies on the TV.
The alcove entry area to the room (500) allocated felt like we were in a linen and cleaning cupboard closet, with doors fully open showing all equipment. There was paint chipped off door frames and a light cover on floor against wall awaiting. This whole entrance to the room needs a rethink and makeover. The carpet smelt musty and looked dirty, with lumps and bumps, although the rest of the room was clean. Only one of the four small lights beside the bed was in working order. In the past I have stayed at this hotel twice over the last twenty years in a room that faced and opened up onto the courtyard garden, but unless a makeover is undertaken and the room was in a better position I am not so sure I will again.
4.5
Bed was comfortable. Room was clean. Great facilities in room.
No lift especially when carrying luggage
Would have liked a light breakfast menu.
Were not given option for walk in shower so struggled stepping into bathtub.

We were a but nervous about travelling with our pup but the pet friendly rooms were so good and so easy.
