We have returned several times to The Game Cock and have had a thoroughly lovely time every time. And we will certainly go back again and again. The village location and views are gorgeous, the staff are super friendly and welcoming, the real fire in the bar is so cosy, and a perfect spot for our dog to curl up in front of, we were even provided with a little rug for him to cosy up on. Our room was so comfortable and cosy with everything we could need, even a fridge for fresh milk. And the food both in the evening and breakfast, top notch! Thank you all at TGCI, we love staying with you!

This property was a great location for exploring the Yorkshire Dales, hiking and driving. Staff were friendly and food was great. Lots of fresh baking! The room and bathroom are small but comfortable. Bartender Dave was very helpful with any questions we had.
We did not realize that we would have to book a reservation for lunch. There are really no other options in Austwick. It was extremely busy as it was the May bank holiday weekend. Not the fault of the property, but good to know in advance. Parking is very limited on the property, mainly free street parking.

A great pub with really friendly staff, with a shout-out to Dave in particular at the bar, who was really helpful. The food was amazing, with compliments to the chef. And the French style bakery with all the cakes, tarts and pastries made by the in-house chef is awesome. The facilities were really nice, with everything you needed and expected, with a really nice ensuite.
The location is great as well, right on the edge of the Dale's in a really pretty village, not far from all the local main attractions. Would definitely stay again.
There was nothing I didn't like really other than the room was a bit smaller than I thought it would be, but it was still really nice and had everything we needed and expected.

I love the food here. We've been to eat many times before and this is the first time we've stayed. The rooms were lovely and it was nice to have a bath.
I was hoping for more from the continental selection at breakfast... some pastries, fruit or baguette options.

What an absolute gem of a pub in the lovely village of Austwick. We stayed for dinner bed & breakfast for 2 nights. The food and service was excellent. The couple who run it, and there staff, are really welcoming & friendly and go out of there way to make sure guests are comfortable. Our room was spot on & great that they are truly dog friendly. The in house baker/patisserie produces the most amazing cakes, pastries & bread. Seeing the trays of goodies coming out of the kitchen when going down for breakfast made me buy some later when we got back from our wet & wild walk up whernside. They were delicious! Austwick is really well located for walking, especially the Yorkshire 3 peaks. I can’t recommend highly enough!

Lovely traditional pub set in a beautiful location.( plenty of lovely walks around the area as well )The staff were really friendly and helpful too. We ate there one night and the food was delicious and hot as well. The breakfast was made fresh and it was superb! Sue who served us our breakfast was really chatty and friendly. The bread and the homemade tarts were beautiful. You can also purchase them all day in the bakery which is in the pub conservatory! Our second visit and am sure it won't be our last. A credit to such a wonderful team.
Nothing at all!
