Great place to stay in Lalibela!

Room was very clean and comfortable, and the balcony is great with a wonderful view. Shower had hot water, internet was consistent, staff were very friendly, breakfast was delicious, and location was convenient but still quiet and private. Overall, a really great place to stay!

Great stay at Merkeza guest house

Tedy (owner) and family are very friendly and very helpful. The rooms are very modern and well furnished, modern bathroom, hot water. Breakfast is filling and tasty, eaten in a gazebo. Tedy helped with last minute flight changes including paying for them while we were out of town which we then paid him for on our return. There are 2-3 places to eat very close by, especially recommend Kana.

Exceptional view and a comfortable stay1

We had a lovely stay in Lalibela. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. It was very quite . At night we could admire amazing stars and in the morning the sunrise from our balcony. Teddy recommended us a great, professional guide. We visited with him Lalibela churches and local village in the mountains. The guide's name is Aynalem and you can find him on Tripadvisor. Just put "Mount Lalibela Tour and Trekking" to check him out. Teddy's location is perfect. In a quite neighbourhood but very close to shops, restaurants and the churches. Teddy's wife served us a nice breakfast - however, it was the same every day. I truly recommend the stay at Teddy's house. He's also very helpful and friendly.

Spacious and clean room. Balcony with nice views. Convenient location to St George and a few restaurants and shops are also nearby. Very quite at night though since located in a side street. Nice breakfast. The airport shuttle is also really convenient.

Christmas time at Lalibela

We had a very good stay at Merkeza, highly recommended. Spectacular views from the room, a peaceful environment, tasty breakfast with great Ethiopian coffee and a friendly and welcoming staff.

We had warm showers, but the water pressure could be better.

Teddy was extremely friendly and helpful with arranging transportation and a great tour guide. After I miscommunicated about missing breakfast, he was kind enough to offer me dinner instead. The room also had a gorgeous balcony view!

Merkaza is an oasis of views, charm, cleanliness and value, in Lalibela

Merkeza Guest House was the perfect base to explore Lalibela for the two days of our visit there. The rooms were beautiful: spotless, attractive, with fantastic balcony views. Breakfasts were delicious and unhurried. Teddy, our host, was amazingly helpful, and seemingly always on hand. He found us a brilliant guide, recommended fantastic nearby places to eat, and gave up his time to generally chat with us about life in this beautiful town.

No reflection on the guest house, but Lalibela has been without electricity and hot water since conflict here last year. But Teddy was able to charge our phones and bring us hot water, early in the morning, for bucket showers, which were perfectly fine with us.

Great place to visit the beautiful town of Lalibela

We had a lovely time at Merkeza guest house. The room is nicely decorated and has a lovely view to the mountains. It’s in a good location, just 10min walking from the Lalibela’s churches. Most importantly, Teddy and his family are great hosts, they made us feel at home and they helped us organise our tours around the town. Plus, the breakfast is very good! I definitely recommend this place to anyone who wishes to visit Lalibela.

Everything. The location in the town, the room, hygiene, facility. Tedy and his family are very hospitable and will make sure to take good care of you and help you set up with a reliable guide. Tedy presented us a great guide Ayinalem. Ask for him the next time. He will show you the best of Lalibela.

Just add a mosquito net in the room. Otherwise everything was perfect.

Superb

Tedy and his family have built 2-3 rooms to host guests in their compound. They will take very good care of you. The room is huge, and the view over the valley from the balcony is beautiful. Really nice spot to have breakfast before heading into town. Water was hot, and there are enough blankets in case it gets cold at night. Tedy can arrange a guide to visit the churches. The location isn't the closest from the churches (15-20min walk) but it's very quiet, and Tedy will put you in touch with a reliable tuktuk driver who can come pick you up wherever you want! There are 2 good restaurants nearby to go for diner.

The breakfast is simple and tasty, and could do with a bit more options. There were a few mosquitos and a mosquito net would greatly benefit the equipment.

Really really good

The room is very spacious and very clean, has a nice balcony with a fantastic view (and the nice visit from a monkey - see photo) Still it's very close to the the center of Lalibela, at few minutes from the churches.

The location, the service, the friendliness and the mountain view

Merkeza offers much more than expected. Brandnew facilities with a huge bedroom, a wonderful bathroom with hot water, a nice breakfast and very reliable wifi. Teddy, the owner, speaks great English and is ready to answer every question and gives great tips about the area. 5* for an extremely good price.
