Loved our stay here at Hara Ilios, we went for one of the rooms with private pool which was lovely. The main pool area was great, not too busy during our stay and the pool itself was perfect. Definitely the staff at the bar and the amazing food & drinks were our highlight, they were super friendly & attentive.
The place was very clean and our room was cleaned thoroughly every day, it was immaculate. The cleaning staff did leave our terrace door open every day and our room was right on the main path through the hotel so I wouldn’t recommend leaving anything important in the room during the day, or use the safe. The bed and linen are super comfortable and the room had everything we needed.
Breakfast was amazing, so many choices & all delicious.
We only had dinner at the hotel once, buffet style and we went quite late so there wasn’t very much available & I didn’t really enjoy it. There are loads of great restaurants around so would recommend checking them out rather than eating at the hotel in the evening. There’s a few small beaches a short walk away. Location was perfect for us, and we really enjoyed exploring the area.
The air-con in our room stopped cooling the room after a few days, the heat was unbearable at night and we couldn’t leave our patio door open as the cats came onto the terrace at night. I asked the reception to check out the air con and they sent round maintenance straight away however he said there was nothing he could do. So we had a few uncomfortable hot nights with no sleep.
Our terrace with private pool was in the shade apart from 1 hour of the day so the pool was way too cold to use unfortunately, but I suspect later in the year it would be better.

Very kind and helpful stuff. Room and hotel were very clean.
Good location - few minutes walk to the beach, restaurants and stores. Nice relaxing swimming pool with nice bar attached to it.
Food was subpar and not tasty. You have to pay extra to get water at dinner or to get cappuccino in the breakfast. Even simple glass of water was not available which is not acceptable at those prices.
The shower’s hot water was not strong enough.
No conditioner was available.
The tv had only few news channels and no possibility to use anything else like Netflix.

Breakfast was exceptional.
The buffet could have been hotter. Plenty of choices but salads were excellent

if possible, choose rooms with privat pool - they are with great design !!! perfect !
As I understood the hotel is in tranformation process. because of that lobby and breakfast room are old fashionwd, but service was good. Just one thing - aditional charge for water at the breakfast is not good.

Property clean, staff were friendly, mostly. Pool is open until 8pm
We paid for one of the largest superior family rooms, unfortunately we ended up in a room with 1 camp bed, it took 2 nights before this was resolved. We purposefully paid for proper beds due to having older teenagers.
To be honest, this put a real dampener on the holiday, no form of a refund was offered, despite the price difference. We were told by 2 different reception staff that the manager would be in touch, this didn't happen and emails ignored.
It's expensive - drinks, food etc.
Breakfast is adequate but far from exceptional.
It is a bit of a walk to anywhere.
The power continues to go off in the evening, on one evening we were under the powerline and witnessed the loud bang and sparks.

The bar & pool area was nice, only place where staff were friendly
We were put in a room with no working tv and on showing our disappointment, we were moved to a dirty old room with no amenities that we paid for & on top of all that, they wanted to charge us for extras we had already paid for, very poor

The location was good but is not 50 metres from a beach that you can sit at, it is a good 15/20 minute walk to a nice beach. it is 50 metres from the coast.
Breakfast was good but you have to pay for WATER!
The bar was nice. The grounds and general decor was of a high quality.
We stayed in brand new room, the design of which was awful. The toilet and shower - which both had opaque non-soundproof doors on - were directly adjacent to the bed, so there was very little privacy and if one person put the light on for the loo in the night it lit up the entire room for the other person. The sink was so close to the bed that if you weren’t careful you could splash the person lying in it! The corridor door were also completely ineffective at keeping out the noise, luckily there weren’t many guests in the block, but the workmen and the maids all showed up at about 7:30!
There was air con but it couldn’t be turned any lower than 24 degrees.

A beautiful resort 15 min from the airport, 20 min from the city center. Super convenient for families with kids. Gouves is a cute little village- yes there are stores, restaurants but the beach is an average one. We explored the local area (Malia) and found fabulous beaches around. AgiosNikolaus is an hour drive. Rental car is a must. Overall a fabulous experience.

The hotel is located in a nice quiet area with beaches and good restaurants nearby.
The rooms are spacious and clean.
Restaurant is in a closed room, with no terrasse.
There are no table cloths and you basically feel like you are eating in a canteen.
Food was terrible, especially at dinner. Such a shame!

The staff were exceptional and so friendly and helpful. All members of staff we interacted with went above and beyond to help us and make our stay excellent.
The property was gorgeous and perfectly clean. Our room had a beautiful view and the whole complex was very well maintained. The food, drink and the pool area were excellent.
Whilst the location was a good base to explore other parts of Crete, there wasn’t a massive amount of restaurants or activities within walking distance.
It is worth noting that the hotel offered a range of car hire options to ameliorate the slightly quieter location.

Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. Superb location next to the beaches. Very good breakfast and dinner options.
Really nothing.

fantastic super friendly staff at the reception and breakfast, good value for money, nice pool and bar area, room and balcony were spacious, free parking on premises, breakfast itself was ok
there was construction work right opposite our room which started already at 8am,
i would have wished for more cut fruit, vegetarian choices at the breakfast and an egg station

Very comfortable, clean, modern hotel, friendly staff, a very own village with a restaurant, bar and pool area, nice garden. Very good wifi connection compared to other hotels we stayed. Was comfortable with a car.
During our stay there was no hot water in the shower but I am sure they have fixed it by now.

- Girls and boys at the reception were always friendly and willing to help with any problems.
- Breakfast was standard and testy. Every day was something new!
- Dinner was very good: at least 2-3 choses for meat and 3-4 different salads, fruits and 2-3 deserts. The hotel has its own vegetable and fruit garden! Very tasty vegetables! All courses were very testy at the dinner! Thank you very much to chief-cooker! The local house wine was also testy! One minus: there was only one kind of seafood and there was nothing on the grill at the dinner.
- The room was comfortable and clean. Air conditioning worked well and without additional costs.
- The cleaning of the room was good (on request during the Covid!)
- The territory of the hotel is quite, clean and beautiful, a lot of flowers and exotic trees. There were huge palms directly on swimming pool!
-The location is not the best one. The nearest beaches were about 0.5 km away and it is very close to the traffic road. Sun beds cost 6-10 EUR. There is a better sand beach but around 1-1.5 km away. Close to the hotel there is a bus stop, but the busses in Crete are always late and full, better rent a car! When you leave the hotel, the surroundings around the hotel is a bit sad and poor. Nothing spectacular!
-The coffee at the breakfast was very poor (far from real Greek coffee!). Quality of juices was poor as well and there was no water.
-Drinks were not included in the dinner.

Nice hotel setup with some gardens and a good pool area, all not too large. Very friendly and helpful staff, helped finding a place to do the mandatory covid test before flying back home. Very quiet and relaxed atmosphere.
The area doesn't offer many good dinner options, but this was partly due to most places being closed early in the season during covid times.
