Good value for money
Way out of the central area

Super comfortable hostal, good location, there are city bikes a couple blocks away that make moving around the city really convenient.
The mattress wasn't comfortable

All of the staff members have been exceptional and accommodating. Every morning, the same woman who cleans the hostel also offers fresh fruit to the guests and cuts them up herself (there have been watermelon, papaya and pineapple in the 6 days that I have been here). This woman deserves our tips for working so hard. There is plenty of fresh coffee with milk and sugar if needed, bread, butter, clean drinking water, fruit, jelly and dishes and utensils to use. You can also cook your own food in the 24 hours a day kitchen. They keep everything incredibly clean and the grounds are beautiful with even a swimming pool, plenty of dorms with lockers and locks and a private bathroom in the female dorm - most nights I had the dorm to myself. There are massive amounts of lounge chairs, hammocks, trees and grounds to have your own space and not feel suffocated, crowded and overwhelmed. It is pleasantly quiet here as well. It is absolutely beautiful and relaxing here and you cannot get this type of hospitality in the U.S. or virtually anywhere. After many travels, I can honestly say that this is the best hostel that I have ever stayed in.
That I will eventually have to leave.

Awesome place staff breakfast, worth for money
None!!!

Breakfast was very good for being a continental breakfast: yogurt, bread, cereal, good coffee, milk, butter, strawberry jam, bananas, and other fruit. The place feels very safe for everybody; For example, occasionally there were single females in the large mixed room and, to the best of my knowledge, no-one messed with them. There is a common kitchen so one can cook meals there.
The mattresses can be lumpy or uneven from too much wear, there is no air conditioning, the lockers should be upgraded, and there might be inconsiderate roommates who leave lights on late at night or who are not very quiet at bed time, probably 1 in 12-20, I guess; that can happen anywhere though. If one looks hard enough then one can probably find flaws in any place. However, I felt very safe here and that makes the whole place worth it for me.

The price seemed right and the place was kept clean.
The staff could have been a bit more cordial in general. Toward the end of my day the hostel lost electricity and plumbing. Beyond the inconvenience of all of this, I was unable to do important work on my computer so I had to find other accommodations. However, when I asked to be refunded for the last 4 days of my stay, they refused because I “paid with a credit card”. That makes absolutely no sense. Having no electricity or plumbing in such an establishment is no small inconvenience and at the very least I should have been compensated for those days. I realize the outage wasn’t their fault but they truly must invest in a generator.

Great staff, nice little pool, kitchen was sufficient, very clean, good location
Toilets are not flushing very well; no curtains on the dorm beds

Great location, nice little pool, staff was helpful, laundry service provided, little kitchen with microwave
Fridge could be bigger for all the guests, it was quite stuffed; WiFi is not the best in the pool area and the rooms

I've had a great time at la ermita. The staff is overall friendly, the breakfast included is nice to have. I also enjoyed the outside/pool area since it's great to hang out and meet other travelers. The vibe is in general relaxed. My dorm felt like a good size and seemed clean all the time :) in my dorm (female dorm) there were
even two bathrooms for 7 people!
I honestly liked everything! Maybe the kitchen could be a bit bigger, but I didn't mind. It's a little walk to the main center, but it felt very safe to walk around the city.

The location, staff, and people at the hostal.
The mattress was uncomfortable as I could feel the springs and mattress cover kept slipping off on corners.

Good terrace, hostel interior
There is no air conditioning.

Big place with a lot of outside area too. Met travelers young and old. Good pool-table.
The dorms are very basic and old/used up. Still "ok" though. They did some construction on the pool which Was very loud, but since the place is big you could kind of escape it.

wow start with no toilet paper throughout day after several requests. Same poop skid marks in dorm bathroom, soaps not refilled, floor left wet all day, electrical sockets ruin your phone charger, hot water sometimes..but the real dissappointment was crazy staff like a pack of dogs, worst communication skills I have ever witnessed.. met up with friends there and any time for anyone there was the slightest 'issue', ..which wouldn't even be an issue just a point of communication required , people where pounced on and barked at add repetition, particularly by cleaning woman. Att the end of my stay first thing in the morning, just out of bed she starts barking at me and falsely accusing me, that I left dirty dishes and small frying pan.. which is as well was ridiculous since the night before there is no staff in kitchen nor cameras to even back up such a claim, that indeed was false..Tried several times to be connected with owner to complain and was blocked. So honouring mad old time employee over honest client just doesn't go down welll in my experience, as a long term world traveler This is first negative review I write, having traveled for years.

It's a spacious place with lots of amenities and within walking distance of the center. Not many places have parking available but there's a large, secure area to leave your car here. It's quiet at night.
The bathroom floor is slippery. A small rug would help with that.

Love this place, returned for a second stay. Super nice environment, clean, quiet, organized, nice breakfast, good bed, wi-fi, shower and nice fellow travelers. Excellent operation!
It’s a bit far from the center of town, though the neighborhood seemed safe and quiet. Short walk to the bus station, though!

Nice atmosphere, lots of space to hang around, quiet place, no street noise.
Very small kitchen, actually only space for 2 people at the same time.
The matress of the single room nr. 3 and one of the dorm of which I know are worn out.
In my single room I could even feel the spirals while sleeping, so I left 1 day earlier then booked. There is little water coming out of the shower.
