Das Frühstück ist fabelhaft

Staff is very friendly and the breakfast is lush, with lots of options. Breakfast is made fresh every morning using locally sourced and homemade ingredients. Some days, tea was already waiting for me at the table once I got down to the breakfast room due to the attentiveness of staff. The bedroom itself was very spacious, with a nice big television and a big plush bed that was very comfortable. On arrival, there was a piece of cake and some fruit waiting to greet me. The building is older, with older wooden floors and narrow stairwells, but that just adds to the character of it. It was really lovely!
Though there was WiFi listed on the hotel listing, there was no WiFi to speak of during my whole stay. Because the building is older it creaks a lot and if there is noise in neighbouring rooms, you'll hear it very well. There's also a nearby nursery so if you don't fancy being woken by the chatter or crying of excited toddlers at eight in the morning because you're a light sleeper like myself, it might be wise to bring earplugs. The hotel is not wheelchair accessible and might give people using a cane some trouble.

A great location and friendly hosts

Perfect location, beautiful rooms, so hospitable and friendly, and the breakfast was fantastic!

All the little details and touches in the rooms are just brilliant.
The little mini water bottle cooler for the milk, the little brownies (delicious!) and the comfy bedding, perfect lighting.
I wasn’t so keen on the breakfast. I stayed here before and remembered it being delicious and it was presented well but the toast was soggy and the sausage didn’t seem very cooked which was off putting. Such a shame as everything else was wonderful.

Welcoming, cosy and as great location for exploring the centre of Norwich

Brilliant location, fabulous room and bathroom. Nice touch to arrive to fresh cake to have with tea or coffee. We would definitely stay again.
We were only offered continental breakfast so check on booking if this isn’t your thing. The building is Victorian so the stairs are steep, not a problem for us but something else to consider, especially if you travel with heavy bags!

It was a special bday. There was a bottle of bubbly and cake waiting for us on arrival, which I thought was a lovely touch.
All was good.

Excellent breakfast apart from poached eggs not soft
Every thing ok

The room was lovely; very clean and comfortable. The colours & furniture were very nice. Lovely touch of cake awaiting us on arrival.
Two complaints only; the bathroom door got stuck on the floor & I bashed myself (only the once) as then realised the problem.
Not all of the breakfast menu was available; this was disappointing.

Very good location - although in the city centre a lovely quiet area. Very clean. Perfect facilities and little extra touches such as cake and fresh milk was really welcoming. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The breakfast was first class and was the best we’ve ever had anywhere
Would definitely love to return
Nothing everything was great

Location and the quality
The room was smaller the we thought and there was little hanging space for clothes

Breakfast room is small , time needs to be booked so that the team can cater for you properly.

OUtstanding breakfast
There is no air conditioning and we were on the second floor

Was a lovely quirky small hotel and very central location with a good breakfast
No one answered the phone as we didn’t know where the parking was so had to just park in multi-storey which is fine but £15 to park a day.

Unique place to stay. Superb location. Little extras to n the room like cake and quality toiletries. Very comfortable beds. Warm welcome and excellent service. Breakfast best I’ve had in ages.
Not a deal breaker for me (after all it’s an old and historic property) but worth mentioning. Water pressure seems low. So if you like high pressure rainforest type showers you will be disappointed. If your room is in 38B you don’t usually get to eat breakfast in the very quaint breakfast room (continental instead). Fortunately, as they were not too busy, we were offered full breakfast instead of continental. Breakfast is part of 38 St Giles unique offer and not to be missed - I think this should be standard for all rooms.
Otherwise there is little to fault.

Verty central, comfortable and easy check in
The room we were staying in was in need of some repair, specifically in the bathoom.
Additionally you can’t tell from booking.com, but you can be assigned a room in the townhouse (38 B). If this happens you don’t get a cooked breakfast and are left a continental breakfast. You might be ok with this, but everything in the continental breakfast is loaded with sugar and carbs, as a diabetic it is not really acceptable. At the premium price I wouldn’t have expected these compromises.

Absolutely beautiful property! Exquisite decor. Staff were v helpful and good about me leaving my small suitcase after checking out
For the amount of money, I’d expect perfection. Instead, there were only two types of teabag (both with caffeine) and no low light option over the chest (in Cavell) so it was either full bright lighting (no dimmer switch) or rather dark and gloomy expect for at head of bed. The tiny bathroom had a washbasin that wasn’t draining well and black mould beginning to appear round bottom of shower cubicle. Shower itself looked like something in an NHS bathroom: very clunky and not in line with the gorgeous mottled mirror tiles over basin. Odd. I felt somewhat hurried through breakfast despite coming down at 8:40am and being the only guest. Ideally, you would offer caffe latte and espresso but, ok, I’m not going to make a fuss about the cafetière coffee.
Please accept this as well-meaning advice. You’ve got such a wonderful building and such a great location… I hope this helps you to really make sure everything is on point. (Gothic House Hotel is also beautiful, charming… and single occupancy room is £80 per night with a very good cooked breakfast.)

Warm friendly service and fantastic breakfast.

Fabulous boutique bnb
Confusion over entry into room - texts didn't arrive. A personal welcome would have been better. Long delay at breakfast too... nothing like our last visit.

An excellent location, very comfortable and clean. Nice touches included milk, tea and cake in the room on arrival. The continental breakfast was lovely.
We received a text telling us how to get in but I would have liked a personal greeting when we arrived as we weren't sure about what facilities we could use (i.e. the kitchen and lounge).

Fantastic central location
