Apartment is under the main roof of the owners property, located on the outskirts of town, but you wouldn't know it, as it was so very quiet. Lovely walk along a river right next to the property. The owners are lovely and we really appreciated the thoughtful touches. My husband loved sitting on the deck at dusk, listening to the birds. We would stay here again.
Many thanks for a lovely stay!

Accommodation was very comfortable and Mary made us feel right at home.
Location is very pretty, with a stream at the bottom of garden. Just perfect!

Hidden Gem behind cairns. Make sure to visit this getaway
What a beautiful spot nestled between the mountains near a creek line.
Rooms are very large, outdoor deck is huge and kitchen is perfect for what you need.
Mary was such a lovely host.
We had a welcome basket of food, a beautiful fire was made for us for the evening and our kids absolutely loved the property and playing with Lily, the animals and in the property.
Thanks so much for a great stay, wish it had been longer

COMFORTABLE, QUIET AND RESTFUL.
Firstly, the photos need updated as they do not do justice to that back deck. Every comfort was provided and the finishing details well thought out.
The host was extremely welcoming and friendly but not hovering in our space.
The furnishings in the bedrooms were very comfortable and clean and again everything had been well considered for appeal.
Will definitely book another stay when visiting Cairns.

Peaceful rainforest rest
Superb stay with everything we needed for a laid back rest. Mary's hospitality was perfect - available with great suggestions when we wanted advice but never intruding. Birds singing through the day and night. Practical facilities - great outdoor cooking for us from rainy cold WA. Wonderful.

Our Cairns Holiday
The Homestead is located against a rainforest backdrop, next to a beautiful park, and backs onto a rainforest stream. We relaxed, cooked, and ate enjoying the great outdoors. Our labrador Rilla has fallen head over heels for Mary's Diesel, so we must come back!

poor value
If this VERY shared space had offered the ability to have our dog and caravan onsite at no extra cost, we could have overlooked the lack of privacy (residents kitchen and lounge overlooked shared verandah / only eating area) and amenities (we couldn't turn on a light ourselves to see in the early morning light while trying to make breakfast)

Wow!
From the time we made the booking, Mary was nothing short of amazing. She called within 5 minutes to introduce herself, and what a lovely lady she is!
She greeted us upon arrival, had a plate of fruit for us in the fridge and the most amazing piece of paradise! The room was spotless, bed was sooo comfortable, and everything was just what was needed to feel relaxed. We will be coming back often

Great host, lovely accomodation.
We arrived at the accomodation after a very stressful day. The room was beautiful, clean and quiet and our host was absolutely lovely. A cheeky drink sat around the fire pit was good for the soul. The fresh fruit provided made a great breakfast and we really could not have wanted more.

Most relaxing Christmas
My husband and I wanted a quiet relaxing Christmas with our pooch, and we could not have been happier.
Mary and her family are so lovely and accomodating. Their property is beautiful and we could not have asked for anything else.
There is a fresh water creek moments from the gate which our pooch loved, a great balcony for relaxing on and taking in the scenery, a kitchenette with everyting u need and the supermarket is 5 min up the road.
I would highly recommend a stay and we will be back again.
Thank you

The property was overall a very lovely place to stay, however there were cobwebs all over the archetraves and although it is advertised as a 'house' it is only one room - for a couple - and a kitchenette with no stove-top or oven, only a bbq and microwave for cooking.Mary was a wonderful host and provided great info about where we could take our furkids.

Great stay with our pups
My husband and I stayed for 2 nights whilst in the process of moving out of our house. We have 2 kelpies and Mary's place was perfect for them to run around and play on the huge grassed area. They even got to play m her friendly dog, which they loved.
The room was perfect to come back to after a couple of stressful days. It's spacious, has a nice deck area and the shower was fantastic!
We really enjoyed the tranquil setting and it was lovely having a chat to Mary as well.
We would highly recommend.

Funky, super clean, quiet, restful
Charming, clean and tranquil. Semi-rural close to Cairns , Crystal Cascades and many other attractive areas. Our host made us feel very welcome and provided everything we needed. We would have loved to stay longer

Peaceful escape
A picturesque tranquil setting, made homely by the ducks, chooks, horse & family dog. Although connected to owners premises, sufficient privacy was provided by booking for exclusive use. Beautiful surrounding walks along creek to swimming spots.

Great location, great host
Mary the owner goes that extra mile to ensure your stay exceeds expectations - nothing is too much trouble
The house and location is so peaceful, if you like nature this place will not disappoint, while at the same time you are still within striking distance of all the attractions the area has to offer
Highly recommended

Laid back, relaxing and comfortable. Info re great options to be explored very forthcoming . Any assistance required not a problem. Thank you Mary, much appreciated. Don’t miss the meals at the Red Beret pub, and the free transport there and back.

Clean but wouldn't stay again
The place was very clean but it was cold, there was only one bathroom for all those people staying , and the only 'kitchen' area was outside in the verandah. The host is delightful.

Excellent property
Our family had the most enjoyable stay at this property. The location was just wonderful - peaceful and child friendly, yet close to shops Mary, was a superb hostess. She has great local knowledge and arranged our tours and bookings without fuss. 10 out of 10 from us.

Beautiful home in scenic surroundings.
We loved our stay at Mary's. Everything was as described. The place was very comfortable and Mary was a friendly, helpful host. She even allowed us to help ourselves to fruit from her trees which she had picked. It was delicious.

A must stay for young families!
A home away from home but with exceptional service. Mary's attention to detail and her friendly manner makes this a super place to stay. This is ideal for families with young children, with room to run whilst parents relax on the deck. The property is set in a tranquil and idealic valley not too far from Cairns. Highly recommended.

Exceptional!
My stay at the Homestead BnB was an exceptional experience. The accommodation it's self was clean and comfortable, and a lovely place to come back to and relax after a long day. The Homestead BnB feel's like you are in the middle of no where, with the wonderful sounds and views of nature, but is perfectly located close to everything else Cairns has to offer. There are also great walking tracks along the creek for a nice afternoon stroll or jog.
The Family who run this Homestead were wonderful people and made my stay very enjoyable and easy. I had all the luxury, comfort and privacy I needed, and they also gave great advice on day trip destinations!
I would recommend this place to anyone who is staying in Cairns whether it be for a short or longer stay, you will love it!

Lovely stay
We had a couple of days in Cairns before we went up to Port Douglas and wanted a place to crash after a late night arrival and accommodate 3 adults and a child. What a lovely host Mary is. She made sure we were settled in and left toys and an activity book for our 5 year old. We weren't around much as we had lots of activities organised but when we were there it felt like we were staying with family friends. Comfy, clean B&B style accommodation with private wing of the house (including own toilet shower). Great breakfast too. You definitely need a car to stay here, but it's tranquil and not too far to drive to places.

Excellent hostess
We chose this property because it had 5 stars and now we know why! Mary can't do enough for you, without being intrusive. It is very clean, great comfy bed, with terrific views of the rainforest across a sundrenched deck and green lawns. In just one day we saw a large goanna and a beautiful peacock, we rode along the scenic Freshwater creek bike/walk path.
We were made to feel part of the family, and the breakfast with freshly laid eggs was scrumptious!

Fantastic hospitality - Great place to stay
We stayed here in July and overwhelmed with Mary's hospitality and property for our children. It was so much fun and had all key ingredients for comfortable fun holiday. We definitely recommend this as quiet fun alternative to Cairns downtown. It's easy to get to by bus or taxi, we did both. The views, the creek and bike path, tranquility, and of course Mary and her family were highlights! Just wish we had longer.

Fantastic family holiday
We recently stayed in the main house, with my 2 children, and found the property extremely well set up for us - my son loved the duplo that had been left for him. The owner was really thoughtful, and very helpful, as I was booking from the UK. The house itself is stunning, as is the view. We were really excited by the pool, though sadly we couldn't use it as it rained every day. If I'm ever in the area again, I would try and stay here.

A lovely quiet place to stay
Although too short, we really enjoyed our stay. Fabulous breakfast!
