I stayed in one of the tents - for the price it was So good...and super comfy! The staff were without exception just an absolute pleasure to have around.
2.5 / 5.0
The staff and the location are the real good deal here. Very well connected with the town and the falls. The people were simply amazing! Friendly, good listeners and professional! Every single person made me smile and took the initiative to socialise. They are the real good vibes of shoestrings!
I have to join a similar comment left by another female solo traveller.
I was unlucky to checking during a power-cut day. So no electricity for the entire evening /night. And, sometimes, during the following days. Which is not ideal for a solo traveler. The room was not as described on internet, but rather old - even the mosquitos net was broken. Additionally, the door had a big hole and I didn’t feel safe at first. Obviously, any kind of bug, mosquito or spider could enter. The place has personality and potential. The nature around is amazing. Few renovations on basics would make this place simply perfect and, still, original!

Great atmosphere. Enjoyed the pool and sitting areas. Best is its location. You can walk into town and to Victoria Falls Park.

The service was just Perfect. Angela and Anne have been our angels there. They supported us in every single thing we requested their help about including our trip to Botswana.

friendly and kind attitude of staffs. Breakfast taste good with reasonable price.
big sound music continues until late night which lost quietness in the midnight and prevent my sleep.
No shampoo and conditioner was equipped, so I needed to go to supermarket.

Facilities are clean. Price was reasonable. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Location is super convenient being within walking distance to the town centre. Loved the vibe and met a few new friends there!
Nothing negative comes to mind.

The pool was nice and the location is good!
The room was tiny and did not have any place for luggage. Also the room didn't have any A/C, so the temperature in the room was pretty high in the evening.
The mosquito net had ripped from several spots.
Also there was some constructions going on on the property, so there was a lot of dust everywhere.
4.0 / 5.0
- The waterfall is within walking distance
- Clean facilities
- Early check-in
- Kind, professional and super helpful staff
- Loud music in the evening to attract younger crowd to the bar - wherever I stayed before, party hostels managed to find a balance between catering to young folks and offering some quiet /private space to people who don’t want to participate. This wasn’t the case here. Music was blasting loudly in the evening, even well after 11 pm, so that people had to listen to it everywhere at the property. Maybe this only happens on weekends but it’s something that you def should be aware of.
- Wi-fi connection was bad and sporadic
- Pillows are small and do not provide much support. You have to fold them at least twice to make any use of them and even then it’s just ‘meh’.
Conclusion: even though the facilities are decent, I would not recommend this place (unless you are specifically looking for a party hostel). However, knowing the inflated prices in Zimbabwe, including the accommodation costs, many budget conscious traveler will end up at this place anyway.

The garden was amazing, my tent very comfortable. The staff was friendly and willing to help.
Cafetería was a bit overpriced

Nice outdoor area, super helpful and friendly staff, bunks had curtains and charging points and were pretty comfortable. Parties on the weekend but you can easily avoid if you prefer. Great location. Good food at the restaurant.
There should be lockers for people staying in the dorm rooms. Mosquito nets in the bunks were basically useless.

Friendly and informative stuff. I was not aware that money was not deducted from the app. Luckily I had cash with me and I was able to pay accordingly.

The staff are great, the place has a good vibe and its on a perfect location!
The only thing that I did not like was the party atmosphere on friday and saturday, the music was up until quite late. But I think if you are backpacking solo, its perfect! The rest of the week was fine

staff were wonderful and helpful! the location is amazing and the facilities at the hostel are great!
the room I was in was tiny! I expect that room to be much less in price considering it is like a cupboard! the laundry service was expensive and the wifi frustratingly unreliable system

Best quality is its location, within the National Park. They provide a good selection of food but at a pricey cost, same as everything in the Falls area, super tourist oriented. Swimming pool comes heavenly and you can easily hangout in the common area with lots of interesting travellers.
We wanted to rent some bikes and it turned out they weren't really ready for that. Electric ones were either powerless or hardly working, then the renting fare are again quite high. Regarding the taxi business, they clearly make the most of it.

The place was clean 👌 and the staff was friendly. For my next trip I would still choose Shoestrings.

The people are friendly and accommodating. My stay at shoestrings was lovely and the staff were great
My bedding sheets were a bit itchy like as if the room has been empty and collecting dust for awhile but my 2nd night going forward was lovely.
