Location, friendly staff, breakfast
2.0
The location is exceptional. Very very central to the historic district and the best pubs and restaurants. My room was nicely laid out and decorated to a high standard. Lovely view towards the cathedral and castle.
All the staff members were lovely, polite and well turned out. Can’t fault them, I think they were doing their very best.
A very warm night on my stay. The room was at the very top of the building, so heat rises. The room lacked AC and you couldn’t open the windows (as a notice said) as the pigeons would come into roost. I get that warm nights in England are short lived or even rare but if the pigeons coming into the room is an issue, a simple mesh blind costs £10-20 each and would be easy to fit and solve this problem.
Instead the bed had a high tog duvet and the hotel had provided a tower fan as a measure to combat the roaring heat. It did not.
I didn’t really need a breakfast but as it was included I scurried on down in the morning for a vegetarian cooked breakfast. I could talk at length here but like all meals they rise and fall with the quality of the ingredients and the wisdom of the cook. My partner is a meat consumer; her sausage as an example was extremely dry. If you are going to cook for the rush at breakfast, you are likely to batch cook and keep the outcome warm until needed. If you do this well, fine, but done badly you dry everything out. It was only 8am when we arrived for breakfast, so if the meat is dry at this time, what will it be like at 9 or 10?
On the flip side, my vege sausages had not seen a hot pan. I think they came out of the freezer, straight into the microwave and onto my plate. They were tepid on the exterior with a cold icy core. I left the table before the replacement was produced as I needed to get the day started.
All my negative observations from my short stay are easily remedied. I hope they are ASAP.

Excellent location in Lincoln City centre. Breakfast was at a good time for weekend and the "suite" was exceptional if a little technical!
A lift would have been good but heavy luggage was carried up for us - thank you.

The location was perfect, the staff were very friendly, the breakfast was excellent, the building itself is lovely, and the room was very comfortable. It's also nice and quiet.
A late(r) bar would have been nice - but we stayed midweek, maybe the weekends are different.

Right next to the wall of Lincoln Castle, this hotel is also a mere five minutes walk away from Lincoln Cathedral. The area between the cathedral and the castle was a new part of Lincoln for me, and I found it just as fine as the better known hillside part of the town. The room we stayed in, right under the roof, had the kind of nooks, crannies, and beams that my wife and I both love, and was a delight architecturally speaking. Staff was helpful and friendly, room was clean and very comfortable.
No complaints whatsoever.

Hotel and staff are brilliant, the restaurant fantastic, well worth a stay.
I never realised that Lincoln is so steep, if staying and have mobility issues, it's worth either driving or getting a taxi from the train station as the walk to the hotel can be a struggle.

Lovely location and room. The staff were great and welcoming.
The stairs but it’s good for the exercise

The room is very clean and pleasant. The made-to-order eggs at breakfast are very very tasty. The location between cathedral and the castle is perfect to explore Lincoln.
The hotel feels understaffed. The same employee checks guests out and clean tables after breakfast. Please hire more staff.

The single room is very small and without any charme.
The location in the old town

Perfect location for visiting the castle, cathedral, historic areas and shops.
Our room was very clean and well prepared with good views of the castle walls.
Good breakfast with plenty of choices.
The room was hot and the radiator couldn't be turned off. The sound of TV from the next room, and we could hear snoring from the guests there for most of the night.

We had the junior suite, beautiful! I had a lovely soak in the bath, plenty of hot water and toiletry products. Breakfast was just perfect! Lots of choices. I had boiled eggs, cooked just right and my fiancé had smoked haddock omelette. Fluffy and tasty. Highly recommend.

The Castle hotel is lovely. The location is great and the hotel itself is spotless. Like so many businesses today, they appear to be struggling with staffing and it showed but it would be incredibly unfair to blame them for something that is largely unavoidable. The staff who were there were incredibly helpful and very welcoming and friendly. It must be difficult working in hospitality in the current climate and I can’t fault them at all although I had to leave my key on the desk on departure because no one came to reception in the almost 10 minutes that I waited, even after ringing the bell. This meant that I couldn’t thank them or express my minor issues. The breakfast was delicious.
The bedroom was disappointing to say the least. Overall it was very small although very clean. The drawer under the bathroom sink appeared to be broken so I didn’t open it far and the one under the kettle also had a loose front. Very minor. The bed though was not comfortable at all and I really did not sleep well. The mattress was so soft that, despite the addition of a mattress topper, I could actually feel the hard bed beneath me which meant my whole body was sore by morning. I’m definitely average sized and not overweight so I can confidently say that wasn’t the issue. I think I managed about 3 or 4 hours broken sleep all night. When nights away are so rare due to the demands of caring for my severely disabled daughter, I perhaps have my hopes for a peaceful rest raised too high. Overall, it’s a lovely hotel but the lack of sleep due to the mattress really ruined it for me
