We voelden ons erg welkom.
De gastvrouw heeft ons nog geholpen een verloren hoed (vergeten in de bus) terug te vinden, door een paar telefoontjes te plegen met de busmaatschappij. Daarnaast helpen ze je graag op weg met de rest van je reis. Ontzettend behulpzaam.

The room with outdoor bath that we stayed in was spectacular. It was spacious and contained all the comforts we needed. We loved having private onsen all the time.
The food is something else. The dinner here is a must, prepared by the owner multi course experience. The menu compares to other ryokans, but the quality is far superior to what we’ve experienced elsewhere.
The rooftop onsens are great - the rock one especially.
Staff is kind and very helpful.
The wooden baths could certainly be updated - which I’m sure they are aware of, as some rooms come with the steel ones. It wasn’t bad compared to some other onsens, but the wood shows deterioration (which is normal, really)

I like everything, the familiar touch that you can feel as soon as you arrive at the hotel, really cozy and staff will treat you as a family member.
The food is out of the world , really delicious , delightful and highly pleasant to the taste.
Nice onsens , private and public, which is booking a slot for private use

Everything was excellent, definitely try their dinner and breakfast!

The concierge is wonderful and they should do everything to keep her happy. She organised a great birthday dinner for my husband and cake.
The food is wonderful in particular the hida beef menu which was an extra cost and so worth it.
The property is aging and the bathing areas need refurbishing now. The rooms also need maintenance. There was not much information about hat to do. We were in a tornado and asked about lunch and were directed Ip the hill on a bus for lunch. It would have been better to have the option of something in the onsen.

Incredible food, brilliant service, fantastic scenery, amazing onsens.

The Stay is as beautiful as it sounds. Away from the City trouble you will find here a cozy stay were comfortable is everything. The fact that you have your own osen in your room combiner witch the good meals and nature like surrounding really made this stay special for me. It was äsen and I just can recommend it to anyone.
Especially the Japanese styled room are as the name suggest Japanese styled so it might not get the same kind of comfort as you get at home. Same goes with the food. It’s delicious if you like it…

The recepcionist from Taiwán was very nice and she helped me a lot because I needed to go to Kyoto after staying here, and she helped me so much with that :)

Scenery is
Firstly, we arrived at the property at about 12 noon and there was no one around! The location of this property is in the middle of nowhere and the surrounding seemingly is devoided of other human activities.
The place is quite run down and the bedding / futon seems rather worn too.
We were there 2 weeks ago and the temperature is freezing during the night. The heater in one of the rooms (western style) is not functioning well.
In addition food and hospitality service provided by the staff are also mediocre.
And… the place gives a spooky vibe.
For the price paid, the overall experience is underwhelming.

The staff were helpful and knowledgeable about surround areas. I really enjoyed the dinner and breakfast that was provided, and the room was spectacular with great views of the mountains. the lodge was perfect.
4.1
• Outstanding bath(s)
• Peace and tranquility
• Relatively near the Shinhotaka ropeway
• Welcome sweets were excellent
• Evening meal was wonderful ... particularly the mountain trout which simply divine
• Lack of robes for the ... uhm ... larger person
• The screen in our room had a hole in it ....
• The local delicacy - the beef - did not match our taste
• The towels were small and thin - they didn't match the luxuriousness that the price tag suggested

Both my husband and I are picky about the brand of beers (me more so than my husband) and drink only Sapporo or Kirin. When I called the Ryokan beforehand and found out that their beers were Asahi, I asked them to get some Sapporo for us. They kindly accommodated our wish.
Both dinner and breakfast were excellent (except for the hida beef dish).
Both of the two outdoor baths were nice and relaxing. Though it was raining, they had Japanese traditional rain hats ready and we were totally comfortable in the outdoor baths.
After dinner, we sat at the irori fireplace and enjoyed local sake. The bartender was friendly and helped us plan for what to do the next day.
The place was remote from everything but if you want just to relax and be spoiled, this is the place to stay.
The view from the room was disappointing. The hida beef and the vegetables were still frozen.

Meals were amazing, the room was large and comfortable, and everything in the room and facility was very clean.
Maybe there is a way to adjust it that we didn’t see, but the water in the Ofuro was extremely hot. We had to run the cold water for a while before we could tolerate it, and even after a few minutes we would have to get out and circulate cold water again because it had gotten so hot so fast.

Exceptional food and outdoor baths.

I have stayed in many hotels in Japan, but this one is so unique that I have missed it since I left. I plan to go again next winter.Very nice room and food, very nice environment, very quiet, the outdoor spa is great, which completely exceeded the expectation after checking in, looking forward to the next meeting.

The staff, the onsens, the food! Amazing location in the middle of nowhere.
