The location is lovely. There is easy travelling to many places of interest from here. The inn itself is right next to Montacute House. It is old but comfy with character and is popular with the locals too. There is excellent dining here, a garden, a separate skittle alley and games room.
Nothing to dislike.

Nothing.

The property itself was beautiful and well located in the centre of the village. Breakfast was also lovely.
Some guests were not warned about the bar downstairs being alarmed, resulting in a very loud alarm waking us up at 6am. The alarm continued for a long time as the owners are off site and cannot hear it. They also admitted that this is a regular occurrence - not good when you’ve booked the place for a relaxing stay!

Great inn, lovely food, and welcome.
Nothing, for a couple staying three nights and exploring area a great place to base yourself.

The food was not very good

The room and bathroom were very clean. The bed was very firm and very comfortable.
The noise and smell from the kitchen extractor fan just behind the flimsy partition wall of the bedroom. Noise from the kitchen just below the window. The noise from the toilet macerator which seemed to stop and start randomly. So as a single person, I would recommend avoiding Room 3.

Very clean room in a lovely old pub, great secluded beer garden. Nice friendly staff. Didn't eat here, but the food looked (and smelled) really good, nice vegan options. Good eco-friendly notices up. Great location for Montacute House and close to the A303, didn't have any problems parking close. Very quiet room, and the pub dog Trix is a total sweetheart. I would definitely stay here again.
I've read some negative comments about the landlady being a bit "abrupt" - she's definitely straight to the point, but that seems to come from efficiency and helpfulness, and I got on fine with her. And the landlord is nice too.

clean and comfortable- great hosts and excellent food
Not a major problem but didn’t realise the bathroom was across the hall from the bedroom. Got woken up at 2am Sunday morning by a noisy group staying at the Pub - but not the Pubs fault at all.
