The comfort, friendliness and ambiance.
Car park facility.

The house owner Jane was an artist and decorated the house with her own artworks, it was warm and cozy, the owner was super nice
Since the property was almost 300 years old , it was squeaking a lot. But still well maintained
4.5
Rural location, homely, intimate, building retains its charming old world style, not over-modernised,
hosts attentive to our particular needs also allowing plenty of privacy. We went in December, warm and comfortable. Enormous healthy breakfast. Parking space provided, hostess has some of her excellent artwork for sale.
Only the weather!

There’s nothing not to like about this place, everything was perfect.

Beautiful house and garden, bonus private lounge for the twin room, very filling and satisfying breakfast despite not a full English!
Could not fault, an excellent stay.

While not in the middle of Bath, a quick 15 minute bus ride and a walk up a beautiful pathway got us to Dolphin House. Jane is a gifted artist and George plays in a rock band--how much cooler can you get? The home dates back to the 1600's and the garden is an oasis, full of colorful flowers, statues, and archways.
Nothing really to complain about. A soft ottoman in the living area of the Jane Eyre suite would make it more comfy, but I'm just trying to think of something! It's lovely!

There was an old world charm about the whole place.. The place was very quiet and relaxing. Our room had a separate private living room. The bedroom and the living room overlooked the entire garden on the property and the view of houses beyond in the horizon was simply beautiful. The place was great for walks and exploring on foot a couple of quiet and charming villages nearby. The owners Jane and George were very friendly and attentive to our needs. The bus into Bath city was very convenient. We were glad we chose this place to stay for 3 nights instead of Bath city itself.

Breakfast was nice, bed was comfortable and view was good.
If you like a large unheated attic bathroom, this place is for you! Draughty windows and a bathroom door that does not shut also included. It was freezing up in the attic bathroom in the morning as it only has one small fan heater and that did not work. Tricky to get the shower to run warm too. Very disappointing.
Not keen on breakfast being served into the accommodation either (there is no communal dining room) but this maybe personal taste.
The off road parking is not suitable for a larger car.

Like being at home. Jane and George very friendly. Good communication up to my arrival with my questions answered
Butter instead of margarine for breakfast but the meal was excellent and very plentiful with choice of bread.

Our continental breakfast was very satisfying and gave us a good start to the day. Our room was clean and warm with comfy beds. Loved we had a sitting room overlooking the garden. We were 3 miles from Bath and enjoyed a walk along the canal (recommended by Jane) to reach the city centre. The location was good and would recommend friends and family to say at Dolphin House. Many thanks for sharing your lovely home.

The bed has to be the best that we have slept in. It was even better than our bed at home. The room is large, well laid out, very quiet and the shutters allow for a black out. George & Jane are lovely hosts and breakfast in the conservatory is nice looking out over the rear of the house and the gardens. Batheaston is a nice little village but still close enough for a short drive to Bath. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes within an easy walk of Dolphin House. We did the Solsbury Hill walk for some wonderful views over the valleys. It was a good test of our fitness. Breakfast at Dolphin House is a good mix of continental fares including orange juice, fresh fruit with yogurt, cereal, ham & cheese, toast and croissants with jam. The coffee was excellent but we didn't try the tea. The parking space was small but excellent for the Bath area where parking is almost impossible.
We write a travel blog so WiFi is very important to us. Unfortunately we couldn't get any WiFi coverage in the room so we had to sit in the entrance hall area to get a relatively slow and weak connection. It is recommended that a WiFi range extender be fitted. We were lucky that the other room was not being used during our stay as our bathroom - under the staircase - although exclusively for our use, was only accessible from the entrance hall area. It is fine if you are less than 5 feet tall. Typical of British bathrooms you have to go outside to change your mind and it had one of my pet hates (the dreaded power shower system). You have to run around the shower to get wet. The bathroom also has no shelf areas to lay out your bathroom items so we had to take our bathroom items in and out of the bathroom each day.

The old style Georgian type house.
Jane was friendly, helpful and gave some handy eating recommendations.
There was an art exhibition on while we stayed and got to see some of Janes paintings.
The space where we had breakfast was picturesque.
We were lucky the weather was mixed temperature however given the lack of double glazing it would be fairly chilly in colder months.
If you have a car larger than a mini / fiesta I would get advice on where to park in advance.
