This is a charming hotel, in an old lace factory, with lots of sympathetic decor touches
A more substantial breakfast would have been welcome

Nice simple room, modern decor in an old house. Comfortable, quiet, we parked easily. Beautiful bedding and large comfy bed.
Breakfast was lovely, the owner provided a really good spread. I was particularly impressed with greengages and plums in the fresh fruit selection (not a common thing I would imagine, certainly not in big hotels), and choices of bread and local cheeses. I’m on a “no processed food” lifestyle and it suited me extremely well (there were croissants, and home-made jam, fear not!)

Breakfast was generous, Fresh and beautifully served
Parking was initially difficult, but eventually resolved

We were a bit disappointed in this stay given the good reviews. First of all, this is not a "beachfront" property as advertised, we had to drive to get to the beach. Then, this is the first place we ever encountered that charges extra for arrival after 10pm. When we arrived the host seemed rather cold and business-like, which didn't make us feel particularly welcome. Unfortunately, commuication was also difficult, as we don't speak much French and the host has virtually no English (I know this is common in France, and we shouldn't really complain, but given that Calais is the main route for travellers to and from the UK, if you run a B&B, which in itself is an English term, a little bit of basic English for the hospitality industry would be useful). Breakfast was an incredibly stiff and formal experience, with three couples sharing a large table. Unless you are an outgoing sort of person in the morning, you are going to struggle with that. All in all, the interior design is nice, but the atmosphere in general is a bit chilly. We've stayed in many B&Bs in and around Calais over the years, but we wouldn't really feel drawn back to this particular one. But it does get a lot of good reviews, so maybe there is something unusual about our perception.

Le Circle de Malines is situated near to a number of good restaurants and within walking distance of most things Calais has to offer. The house is impressive and a great deal of thought has gone into making everything pleasing in every sense: furniture and decor are of a really high standard. The dining room, for example, is a beautiful space with high quality sculptures and paintings. The breakfast itself was superb, as was the bed, pillows and bed linen.
Parking is either on the street or in secure car park some distance away. We only noticed the warning to cover up valuables in the car as we were leaving! We were returning to the UK after selling our house in Burgundy after 18 years so it was the saddest of times and we had decided to stay in a decent room for our last night in France for the foreseeable future. This room at 129 euros advertised a bubble bath and sauna, except that the bubble bath didn't work as we were told it needs a new part from and there was no shower as the shower was controlled from the same control pad! So just a bath. We had decided to pay a premium for an exceptional room but we were disappointed overall.

The visit was very business-like and professional. The house is very stylish and very comfortable. Loved it. A real treat at the end of a very long journey and a great stop before taking Eurotunnel back to the UK. Thank you Stephanie.

This is a beautiful 19th century townhouse which is decorated to a very high and tasteful standard blending traditional architectural features, period furniture and modern decor perfectly. Stephanie was a very welcoming host. The location was good for our single night stopover before the Tunnel crossing the following morning and the long drive home.
Breakfast was excellent- fresh fruit, cheese, fresh bread & croissants, compote and yoghurt; great coffee and (a first for our entire holiday) leaf tea!!!
We were able to park for free right outside and were able to empty the car of luggage we didn't need for the overnight stay in Stephanie's lobby for safety.
An excellent stay overall- highly recommended.
