Ideal location, very tasty breakfasts and wonderful hotel owner)

The staff are the friendliest and most attentive I have ever met, and the owner too. They treat you like you are family.
This is the second time I have stayed and I didn't want to leave again. We will be back as soon as possible!
No breakfast available, but it's the low season and the breakfast is usually fantastic at any other time.

Check-in went smoothly. I was greeted in a very friendly and welcoming way and the host showed me around and explained the essentials. Emails prior to arrival were answered in a flash.
The resort boosts 20 bungalows of various cuts. There is detached, semi detached with connecting doors and finally, apartment style with kitchen and living room. The semi-detached ones surround the wonderful pool with its little waterfall. The others are scattered around a wonderful and well-maintained garden. Sun loungers and parasols as well as beach towels are provided.
The bungalows are spic and span and of a very good size which even allows for yoga or work-out sessions. Wanting to, you can follow your coach on You tube on the smart-TV which also provides Netflix (use your own account) and a database with hundreds of movies you can access after logging on to the hotel’s WiFi system. The bed is big, mattress is comfy, bed linen have a nice feel to it and there are 3 pillows a person. Power outlets on both sides of the bed, nightstands, a safety box, a big good-working fridge and a decent size wardrobe with mirror, a table and a desk complete the equipment. The bathroom is pretty big and nothing will be flooded when the walk-in shower with good water pressure is in operation. Another nice feature is the patio with comfy arm chairs and a table. The rooms are cleaned on a daily basis and you will find 2 bottles of water in your fridge every day.
A great bonus is breakfast served in the “lobby and bar” area being prepared by the owner “Mouse” and his wife. You won’t go hungry because there is a menu from which you can pick anything you like, eggs and omelet any style, very fresh fruit, yogurt, bread, jam, cheese, cornflakes, cereal, different juices, milk, tea, coffee (coffee maker with grinder) and more.
Will be continued in the complaint section for there is not enough space here.
Continuation- positive review:
The hotel’s location right smack in the middle of Kai Bae makes it easy to get anywhere quickly. Be it the beach, shops, massage parlors, scooter rental, bars, restaurants or the 7-eleven, which is just 2 doors down. Stepping out into the street you can always flag down a songthaew (shared taxi truck with 2 benches in the back) which takes you wherever you want to go (other beaches, areas around the island) but within Kai Bae “village” you can for sure do everything on foot.
I am very glad to have picked garden resort and Kai Bae. I had checked at least 30 other hotels and read their reviews and often I was put off by: rundown place or in the middle of nowhere, unfriendly or incompetent staff, smell in bathroom, people reserving and blocking sun beds, low quality breakfast, loud disrespectful guests, noise from bars next door till late etc. One can really tell that Corona has taken its toll and a lot of places have shut down, are falling apart or are not up and running as usual again.
As it turned out, not so with Garden Resort. The owners seem to have made it through this difficult time just fine and worked hard on keeping everything up – reviews you read and photos you see on the internet are true and authentic. With this all said: If beach location is not a must, give this great little resort a try. I bet you won’t regret it – well I haven’t. Stayed much longer than initially booked.

A little oasis in Kaibae, fabulously placed with a short walk to the beach and multiple eating places nearby. The owner, who cooked a great breakfast, was exceptionally welcoming and helpful. We liked it so much we stayed a bit longer than expected.

The breakfast was superb and the location couldn’t have been better. Central to everything.

We enjoyed our stay here and the hotel has a friendly atmosphere. The manager, Mouse, and his team are very friendly and welcoming.
Breakfast was very good, and made to order.
The location is good, a two or three minute walk form the beach. The pool is great for a refreshing dip.
The pool wasn't big enough for swimming lengths, which we had thought it would be from the photos.

Everything was good.

This place is wonderful: very clean and comfy rooms in a nice and quiet garden (with a great pool) just few steps away from the beach and lots of restaurants. Breakfast is very good with ample choice, served on a covered terrace overlooking the garden - a perfect start of the day. All the staff is kind, and the owner Mause and his wife are perfect hosts, really helpful and welcoming: from booking time to check-out, Mause was ready to help and give us any information or suggestion we could need, and had always time for a nice chat. Definitely a place to recommend!

Was greeted by the owner and shown around and to my room. Excellent in-room entertainment system with video on demand. Daily fresh towels and room clean. The pool is excellent; salt water and 3M deep - very pleasant to swim in. 7-E basically next door and a selection of restaurants and Thai Massage places nearby. Would stay again if ever back on Koh Chang.

The couple who run it are fantastic and make you feel right at home. The bungalows are very nice, especially considering the price. The location is in the middle of a lively area with many nice restaurants around. Even though they are not beachfront, everything else makes more than up for it. The pool is fantastic with nice chairs around it and can be used at night as well! Probably the best place we have ever stayed in this price range!
Nothing, the place is fantastic!
