The owners picked us up at the train station. The room was large and had heating, TV, and internet. Doña Delia, the owner, prepared meals for us. Don Alejandro took us wherever we needed to go. They were friendly and took care of our every need. They were a joy to visit with. I enjoyed all the plants everywhere. The Dining area had coffee or tea available at all times.

I liked the general vibe, feels bit like a mountain cabin. Theres a porch outside the room to chill. The owner was friendly, gave some tips around the area (e.g. the bus schedule - there’s little info online). Looks like family run. Free pickup from Chepe was included. They serve dinner (home made meal) for extra charge, and breakfast (included). They offer shuttles and tours though I didn’t use it. There’s a store for common things just cross the road. And they do have Wifi (the description says they don’t- must have updated recently).
There was no hot water, but I noticed too late in the evening and had to leave early morning. I’m sure they would have fixed it quickly - so I’d advice to check right after check in🙂 Also the booking.com listing shows the location a bit off - check Google maps. It’s a bit further of the few main streets (15min walk). I didn’t have problems walking down to one of the trails. If staying for longer you’d need to figure transport (walking around will not be convenient).

Great spacious room in a very quiet hotel. Netflix in the TV. Friendly staff. Nice free breakfast. Would recommend if you need a cheaper option than staying in Divisadero itself
Quite out of the way although staff offered a 75peso taxi service into Divisadero, which was useful. We walked it in the daylight which was fine too.

The courtesy and proficiency of our host. The simple comfort. The coming and going of family. Delicious home cooked breakfasts and suppers. Hosts were super attentive to our needs for transport, a guide, and other needs. Super clean room with bathroom. Split-level air-conditioning and additional gas heater if needed. Ease of coming and going on our long hiking and adventuring days. Local store with a range of goods. A good feeling of community. Very safe and friendly.
Would have liked a bath mat to step out onto from the shower. A warmer shower water.
Bookings.com made it impossible for me to send pictures of this delightful hotel!

hot showers and restaurant on site
paying deposit before the stay was complicated as it was requested in pesos by bank if we hadn’t had a local contact to do this I would not have chosen this property

Really nice stay, the family running the place are lovely and extremely helpful, they picked us up and dropped us off at the train station and were on call to help with any issues. They also provided us with great food at a reasonable price (cheaper than the only restaurant in town). The place is clean and right across from a shop where you can find most bits, two friendly cats might come and say hello if you're lucky!

Excellent customer service.
Comfortable and warm room with natural light, in a quiet area.

Delicious breakfast every morning.
They picked us up from the train station.
They also helped us with tours to see the beautiful sights.
No complaints.

Friendly staff, easy to arrange lifts into town (150 pesos), nice breakfast, good coffee. Room had excellent heater and the room was of a good size - 2 large beds, table, and plenty of floor space.
Wifi was erratic, and for most of time non-functional - phone signal was also very poor in area, so for most of the time there was no connection to internet by either wifi or mobile signal.
Shower was okay, but lower pressure and not so hot - good enough to get you clean, but not something you particularly enjoyed.

nice place to stay for a few nights, the room was spacious and beds were comfortable. we were a little cold in the evenings and couldn’t work the heater but I’m sure they would have helped with this if we’d asked. the owners are nice and came to pick us up when we accidentally got off the bus too early. the dining space is nice with free coffee and tea. we ate there every night and the food was good and varied. location is okay, about 1 hour walk to the adventure park and close to some good hikes. the hotel will drop you off at the park for 75 pesos per person if you’d prefer. all in all very good value for money compared to other local options.

"Cabana Los Portales" was perfect! Delia and Humberto were so accommodating. Breakfast was good and the evening meal was always tasty. The location was great, close to everything. There is also a shop across the road. Very important to me, great heating in the bedrooms!!😊
A wonderful place to stay.

Huge room and a great breakfast. Transport available to the park.
WiFi unavailable in a desolate area. Originally chosen for its proximity to hiking trails but Booking.com map was far off.

Delia and her husband Ale are the greatest people I have ever met, they are always there for anything you may need, they even invited me to the county’s party to ride a horse, eat local food and drink a lot of beer. They offer incredible tours and the breakfast is delicious. The complete hotel is simple yet amazing, the internet was working good and they really make you feel like home.

Dinner was poor and not worth 120 pesos

The best part of this stay is the family that operates it. They are amazing people and will care for you like are royalty. There are english speakers available if that is helpful and they can also provide excellent tours, also in english if necessary. There is also a small store across the street which is very convenient if you are on foot because you arrived on Chepe. Do arrange to have them pick you up as it is too far to walk from the Divisadero train stop with your luggage.
I recommend Copper Canyon to everyone I meet and I always tell them to stay at Cabañas Los Portales in Areponápuchi. Please tell them Brad from Alaska sent you!
Sometimes it’s a bit chilly in the dining room. Bring warm clothes!
