Marianna was a wonderful host - she even drove us to our ferry when we were leaving.

Breakfast was served in a beautiful shady garden where fruit and vegetables for the table were grown by the owners. Marianna and Francesca kindly recommended restaurants, places to visit and transport.

The steep climb up from the port to the hotel which made us realise we are not as fit as we think but it was worth it.

Feel like home

Hotel Materese is located in Casamicciola, an excellent choice for visiting the wonderful island of Ischia, which is very central, with many restaurants, shops, beautiful beaches and other services. It is well served by public transport, taxis and has its own port. It is also a good place to stay as it is both peaceful and lively. The hotel itself is cute, has a wonderful garden with many beautiful plants and fruit trees (kiwi, lemon, orange, tangerines, peppers, fig tree, grapes... It also has its own restaurant where you can taste homemade dishes for breakfast (included) and dinner (optional). My room was located in the garden, so it was very quiet and intimate, with a very nice view of the sea. It was very large, comfortable, clean and well equipped. But above all, you absolutely have to stay at Hotel Materese because of Marianna and her family. They will do everything to make you feel unique and at home. Even before my arrival, she sent me tips to come easily. As I had to arrive in the morning before check-in time, she prepared the room early for me and welcomed me with good coffee and organic grapes from the garden (which is very precious after a long trip). She took the time to explain everything to me about the island, gave me lots of valuable advice (restaurants, activities...). It was not my first time in Ischia, but thanks to Marianna this time I was able to discover it very well and enjoy all the treasures of the island. She was also very caring with me and concerned about the smooth running of my stay (booking me activities, bringing me an umbrella when it was raining, preparing breakfast especially for me when it was already over...) . Thank you very much Marianna for everything, and I hope to be back soon!

Exceptional

The hotel is really charming with a beautiful green backyard and everything is super clean. Mariana really helped us with giving information about the island like where to eat, what to visit, where the best beaches are etc. It was really nice that you can count on her help when needed 😊 rest of the staff was also really friendly 😊 The breakfast is great with excellent coffee, the offer is more sweet than savory. I would definetively recommend!

Best hotel

A family owned hotel. Impeccably maintained with beautiful gardens and loads of fruit trees that are immaculately cared for. Mariana welcomed us with such warmth and was extremely helpful. Mariana went far and beyond to make sure we were well taken care of and very helpful with any reservations we needed or questions we had. Francesca her sister is the chef at the hotel and will definitely treat you with delicious homemade meals that will surely tantalize your taste buds. Let's not forget their mom and dad who keep the garden grounds breath taking with beautiful flowers and fruit trees. Honestly, if we can rate this hotel and our experience a 12 on 10 we most definitely would. They made us feel like part of their family. It was extremely sad saying goodbye but filled our hearts with beautiful memories. Look no further, Hotel Matarese is all you need. Hugs from Gina and Bruno. Canada

An outstanding stay in Hotel Matarese

We had a wonderful break staying at the hotel. Marianna and her family offer their guests a very special experience. The hotel grounds are beautiful. The breakfast is excellent - including delicious fruit from the garden, and they even offer an evening meal which we enjoyed. Marianna was so helpful and gave us great recommendations throughout our stay. We can’t wait to return!

Fabulous

This was our best accomodation in the past few years. The owner and the other staff are really nice people. We felt like home for these few days. The owner is a really nice, welcoming and caring person. The garden is like a little oasis. If we did not want to go to the center we could chill at the terrace in the garden with a nice view to the sea and the city. Breakfast was fresh really as it was written straight from the garden. The pies and home made cookies were delicious. The coffee also very good of course :) We discovered the island walked a lot but got really good tips from Marianne. She was always ready to help with any kind of questions we had. We are highly recommend this place :)

Hotel Matarese provides a warm and wonderful experience in a very special place. Extraordinary hosts.

The hotel is beautiful and the family who owns it is really wonderful - warm and generous in every way you can imagine. We got great advice about how to spend our time in Ischia and how to get around the island. Our large, pretty room with gorgeous views stayed cool even during a heat wave. There is a comfortable garden with sea views for relaxing (it also supplies the kitchen with a lot of beautiful fresh fruit and vegetables). Breakfast and dinner were prepared by the family - all truly delicious. A genuinely special place.

I had a wonderful stay and will be back!

I loved everything! The family owned and operated hotel and hotel grounds are cared for with love. The hotel is very clean, as well as the rooms. Morning breakfast consists of home grown, fresh apricots and cherries with homemade jam and fresh juices for your toast- formaggio and meats as well, if you like. The staff is so friendly and genuine. Mariana and her staff worked hard to provide a great experience for us. She offers tons of information about local restaurants, beaches, as well as discounts for spas. She also picked us up and dropped us off at the ferry. Way more than we could have asked for! I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. I will be back!

A great stay at a beautiful place with very nice people!

Marianna was so nice and helpful. She gave us good recommendations for what to do and good restaurants. She also helped us to book everything. We felt very welcome, thanks to her. The garden at the hotel was beautiful and the location was great!

The bed and the pillows was a bit hard.

Our dream holidays

Maybe this hotel does not own a pool but trust me you will not be thinking about cheap pleasures when you feel the real atmosphere of this place. It is located in a calm area, with a beautiful view. Rooms are clean, Well furnitured and people there treat you like a family. They also helped us to rent a scooter with a very good price, Which is the best way to See the island. Once you are there you have to eat dinner at their restaurant and enjoy big breakfast. They make their own wine and it’s delicious. We just had Everything we wanted on our holidays. Thank you!

Exceptional

Marianna was super friendly and made our stay in Ischia super easy and smooth. She sent us the ferry's timetable before we arrived, came to pick us from the port, arranged for us to rent a scooter at a great price and have it delivered at the hotel. We were lucky enough to be there during a family celebration and taste Marianna's husband's pizza, a talented pizzaiolo for sure. We were treated like family. Marianna speaks english, italian and german. The room was very nice and super clean. We had a great relaxing time here thanks to Marianna.

Delightful Family Hotel: The Bwhest of Ichian Hospitality & Authentic Island Home Cooking.

Lovely family run Hotel, the friendliness and helpfulness of the two sisters who run the hotel and their staff was exceptional. Upon arrival we were offered a selection of rooms as the Hotel was not full due to us holidaying in late September. There was a good breakfast every morning and the evening meals were excellent and great value: Good Italian home cooking with seasonal local produce, fish from the harbour, fruit & veg often from the hotel's garden (looked after by their Father). We would stay again in an instant.

The climb from the Harbour up the hill to the hotel if you don't have a car, however if you're fit no problem, if not there are plenty of taxis and the hotel is on several local bus routes. Other than that, for the money our stay cost, we could not have wished for better.

Excellent stay with lovely breakfast and hospitality.

It is very rare to come across such a lovely family run hotel. Every member of the family was committed to make our stay perfect. We stayed in a cottage annex within the small vineyard with wonderful views of the sea. We have travelled many places but this was by far the best in respect of commitment to their customers. The hotel is in small village on a hill, not far to walk to the port.

Exceptional

Mariana, the hostess was charming, very helpful and provided every need that comes up. The garden is lovely, the breakfast is very good and the internet is strong. The hostess provided good recommendations, discounts for certain places and she helped us get to the port and rent a motorcycle. The place is clean and in general the experience was great and very recommended. Thank you Mariana for perfect hospitality.
