Disturbing stressing trip
Location
Very disturbing stay. Left 24 hours earlier than we actually paid for. I don't know where to start from. Every single piece of furniture assembled had nuts and bolts loose. Nothing was assembled properly. For example Dining table and chairs when moving around the whole structure would move and wobble dining table was sticky to a level like its never been deep cleaned. You put your arm on table whilst dining and would stick for a moment. Oven trays were not cleaned or washed. Left them as they were and I bought some new ones from sainsbury. There was no hot water in the kitchen sink. The most disturbing thing was beds. Not at all comfortable the master bedroom had a bed bigger than the mattress. One of us had to sleep downstairs on sofa bed because of it. The sofa bed was more comfortable than any other bed but even when we opened that it was very dusty. The thing that was even disturbing was the floor boards upstairs. Every single floor board was squeaky and loud whilst walking. If some one in bedroom has woken up in middle of night and gone to use the toilet the person in the room would definitely get woken up and the person downstairs as well as it was more louder and noisy downstairs. Make up cleaning pads were left in one of the bedrooms from previous guest. The beds were not assembled properly the mattresses were well over used and abused. You could feel the springs. The master bedroom beds nuts and bolts were loose so even if you were turning sides they would make squeaky noises. I paid a lot of money for this cottage to have a wonderful time with the family and instead was stressed and disappointed by the quality of the cottage.

Good location but starting to look a little tired
Location was beautiful, house was modern and the staff were helpful when we needed them.
Washing machine was broken (had been logged but we weren’t told until we tried to use it), the high chair we were given was covered in (what looked like) yoghurt, and the travel for we has was broken. The property in general probably needs a decent refurb as it looks like it’s been used punishingly.

Sadly, despite superficial appearances, the issues encountered in Haddon Cottage ruined our stay.
Lovely property, with great facilities, but with several issues which, overall, spoilt the stay.
ALL of the floorboards throughout the property creak LOUDLY. Not so much of an issue during the day, but, at night, anyone staying up later than others, or anyone getting up during the night, would wake the entire household. The double bed is shockingly uncomfortable. The metal frame creaks with every movement, waking both sleepers, and the mattress has no edge support so one consciously spends the whole night trying not to fall out of bed. The shower in the ensuite to the room with the single, pullout, bed creates such a racket that it can be clearly heard in the double room. An early morning shower in the single ensuite means an early morning wake-up call for the sleepers in the double room. Overall, these issues spoilt our stay in what is, on the face of it, a beautiful property in a great location.

Disappointed overall
good size, nice location near to lake., parking
Struggled to identify the property in the dark. nothing on directions to indicate location on the park. Reception closed. Very cold on arrival and not clear how to work the heaters or boost the water. Kitchen window near to the fridge will not shut properly to lock mattresses in single and double room very basic & uncomfortable. Knob on wardrobe in double room drops off and other door won’t open. Mold in grooves of window frames. Dirty grill tray in oven, smoked when put on. Tired and in need of refresh.

We really enjoyed the secluded location but it might not be right for everyone.
The house was excellent value for money for the space we had. Each of the children has an en-suite which they loved. The property was very clean and the village was well kept.
I would have scored this property higher, but the bed in the master bedroom was very uncomfortable and squeaky. My husband and I couldn’t sleep on it together so I had to sleep in with one of the kids, as the bed didn’t have springs sticking in your side. It seems such a shame to have a cheap bed in the master, as generally that will be where the parents or people that are paying the most will sleep. The dishwasher didn’t seem to dissolve the tablets so I’m not sure that it was giving anything much mor than a rinse. A few of the tables in the twin bedroom and dining room had wonky legs where they’ve obviously been knocked and fixed, so will need replacing soon.
