What a location! right in the middle of the most beautiful village bit of you choose certain rooms (number 33!) you have a balcony with an expansive view over the countryside that is breath taking.
The bed was comfortable (extra pillows in the wardrobe) the spiral staircase to the upper loft bedroom for our daughter was great to give some privacy.
The bathroom is newly renovated and has yet another view!
There is a lift available to get your luggage up to the room levels but you will need to park in the corner of Piazza Grande and roll your bags a very short distance to the reception.
Definitely book here if you’re planning to stay in Montepulciano!
The air conditioner was quite noisy but just wear ear plugs and you can’t hear it!

We loved the Mueble il Riccio. Our room was a Junior Suite with a balcony. The room was great and the balcony was wonderful. A bit strange that the "sitting area" was located in a loft area that could only be accessed with a ladder that the staff needed to move for us if we wanted to use the extra room. The location of the hotel is excellent and very private and safe. The instructions given to us on how to drop off our luggage at the hotel were great.
The mattress in the room was very uncomfortable -- both my husband and I ended up with back aches. I also did not think the charge for breakfast per person was reasonable. Although the breakfast was good, but it wasn't until our last day that we realized they would cook eggs to order and there was just not a lot of choice. The baked goods were excellent but needed additional protein choices. Unfortunately, there is not a lot of breakfast choices in Montepulciano, so you are basically at the hotel's mercy.

Staff was very good and owner was nice. Enjoyed the facility and would definitely stay there again.
Shower was small but all were in Europe.

Fantastic location, right in the middle of town next to the main square, Piazza Grande. Amazing ancient building with stunning views across the valley, right from the hotel window. The older owners were friendly (even with limited English) and worked hard preparing breakfast etc. Nice modernized bathroom. There's an elevator but it should be noted there's still a couple of steps to reach the ground floor.
Awful, rock-hard bed and the only thing worse was the frosty reception upon arriving (not the owner but another member of staff). She was clearly irritated about re-explaining the complex parking situation again and that we'd failed to print the parking permit. The place advertises parking but doesn't say it's a 10-minute walk away up/down a very steep hill. They had helpfully messaged before to say we could drop bags first, but didn't explain the no entry zones in the town, so it seemed impossible to get there. We've been stung by surprise fines in these zones before, driving around Italy. One car park was closer but needed payment at an utterly confusing machine. We knew the Tuscan hillside town would be a challenge but that's why we picked a place with parking (as shown by booking.com). The bed was terrible and so hard. The AC worked but blasted all night - the end result was very little sleep. The room was too small to open our suitcases so we lived out of these on the floor. The breakfast was adequate but awkward asking the poor older owner to keep fetching items for us. And the croissants ran out because we were scrabbling to get packed and checkout out on time.

The location--right at the heart of the town center and Christmas market was perfect. The hotel has a small courtyard at the entrance, a couple of flights of stone steps (with some of the healthiest geraniums I've seen--and in winter!). The room was a lovely blend of contemporary comfort in a classical setting. The view from the balcony window was perfectly Tuscan. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The second bed was in a loft, gave it some privacy. Bathroom and shower were wonderful. Definitely would stay again.

Posizione, accoglienza, pulizia.
Termosifoni seppur al massimo , tiepidini... Colazione a 10 euro mi pare eccessivo.

Beautiful palace. good breakfast.
Host were the owners and their English was not fluent. We were cold at night and they said they didn't know why it wasn't working. We suspected they didn't put the heating system on.

This was perhaps our fourth stay here in the last 15 years. If there was a medal for consistency, Ivana and Gio would win it every time. Meuble is a gem in the heart of Tuscany, and when ever we are in Italy, we make sure to go out of our way to stay there at least two nights. We love Montepulciano, and Meuble il Riccio is a large part of that!
Thank You Ivana and Gio!

Once you find it, it is wonderful. A little hard at first to navigate Montepulciano and the signage is minimal. The layout is very nice. We were there in July 2023 amidst horrible heat wave. Room had a small air conditioner that we never turned off. The views are so good as was the staff and the complimentary breakfast. If we go back, we will stay there again.
Little or no air conditioning.

Wonderful balcony room!! Pay the extra money, the view is spectacular!! The owners were attentive and Antoinella was amazing!!! Breakfast too was great for $10 extra per person. Parking in a parking lot was provided free of charge but a nightmare to get to when there is a wine festival on!!🙈🙈🤣🤣

Location and service. Value for money. Kindness of staff. Amazing rooftop area for sitting. Loved it!
Awkwardness of quiet breakfast. Need mood music.

Great location, beautiful room with gorgeous balcony views. Wonderful breakfast in their pretty lobby dining space! Very kind staff.

Beautiful largeroom with an amazing view, right on top of Montelpulciano, able to see the complete valley from our bedroom window. Small fridge in the room, where we were able to keep our drinks cold. Nice touch that they had put 2 glasses in the fridge, refreshing to put water in there, no need of ice.
Unfortunately the parking area to park overnight ( 20 euros)was a 15 minute walk down the hill, so once parked, (you can drop of luggage at hotel,) you then have to walk up the steep hill back to your room.

The staff was wonderful. It is a lovely location and an incredibly historic place.
The beds were not the most comfortable in our suite with the loft. It was a bit far to park and a little difficult navigating the streets. But really, that's all part of the charm!

Location.
Difficult to get close to with car. Then had to park the car quite a distance away and walk back to hotel.

Location, decor, history, staff
Very hard beds, small maintenance issues- flickering light, very noisy fan in bathroom- nothing major.

We stayed here for 10 days, and booked a year ago. We were traveling with friends, and they ended up with a larger room with larger bathroom, for the same price. We didn't push the issue, but for staying that long, it would have been nice to have larger accommodations. The staff are tremendous, once you get to know them, and they bent over backwards to help us with whatever we asked. Very clean. Enjoyed their breakfast (additional charge!!)We really loved staying in Montepulciano!!
The parking lot is a 600 meter walk ALL UPHILL to the hotel. No offer to shuttle us, but this is a very small boutique hotel. Good for keeping the glutes in shape. Our shower head in the postage-stamp size shower was funky and broken, but it still worked... we should have asked them to replace it, actually.

A wonderful hotel in Montepulciano! Our room was beautiful, with incredible views and an amazing terrace. The owners and staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room was very spacious, elegant and clean. The attention to detail, and personal service were top notch. The location inside the incredible historic city was amazing. We highly recommend Meuble Il Riccio, and definitely plan to stay here anytime we return to the area.
Only that we had to leave.

Location was excellent right next to the main square.
