The building was lovely but we weren’t made aware of the building site outside which ruined our stay
The lack of communication
No number to call for help
None of the tvs worked.
The property is on a building site with no views
2.5
Good space, good location, clean and well equipped
No road signage or property number making it difficult to find.
3 tvs but only work for dvds, no tv
Erratic heating. Window mechanisms need attention. Constantly dripping tap in kitchen. Loose/poorly fitting toilet seats. Rattling extractor fans on timer for 30 minutes plus - too long. Only 1 set of keys between 4 people.
Building site right next door, picture on booking site obviously very old as only view from windows is onto a brick wall, not the estuary.
Main bathroom door very stiff, hard to open and close especially for elderly parent.

the size of the property was brilliant .
the building work right outside all windows wasn’t great , even on a bank holiday weekend they were working early morning. it would have been good if I had been warned first, as the price didn’t reflect that we were ontop of a building site.

Perfect for a short walk to the beach and the main shops and pubs. Lovely size apartment and easy to find.
Could do with having more bin liners and more toilet rolls when there’s a large group there.

very easy to find, amazing location. clean bedding.
the oven was VERY hot and i have a small child. everything else was perfect

location was good and the apartment was spacious. It was well equipped.
It suited us fir this visit - we were in the area for a wedding. I would be very disappointed if it was fort a holiday as no outside space and building site in front (website said until april 2022)

ground floor so great for the pushchair.
had everything we needed, big master bedroom.
small main bathroom, could have been cleaner, big cobwebs in main bedroom. Lovely dressing table to get ready at, but no pugs near for hairdryer etc.
no instructions for washing machine, still hiding behind covid having to strip beds etc (your on holiday)

Alnmouth was a lovely little seaside town with a nice beach and views. It was a good location for the places we wished to visit in Northumberland. The apartment was very nice, spacious, comfortable and well equipped. The kids were excited to find there was a monopoly board that we could play with
The keys were not in the lock box that they were supposed to be in. There was no way to contact the owner apart from through Sykes cottages who tried their best but it took them an hour to be able to get in touch with the owner. It was seeming very much like the owner was uncontactable for a while and it was really looking like we were going to face sleeping in the car or driving the 4hr journey straight home again. Thankfully, the keys had been put in a different lock box that had a different code to the one given.
There was building work going on right in front of the property that was mentioned in the property info but it did say it was expected to finish by easter 2022. It wasn't even close to loooking finished (August BH week). That said, it didn't bother us apart from it made manouvering for parking a little bit difficult and we had to squeeze past their machinery to get down the driveway. I expect when finished, there will no longer be a view of the harbour from the property.

superficially elegant
Undisclosed building site where we thought there was on open view to the estuary, apparently the property of the same owner, hideout
4.5
Excellent location
They have thought of everything you might need- grater, corkscrew, couple of board games, DVD’s, books etc.
There was nothing l could say we didn’t like

The apartment is in a great location as it is within walking distance to the beach and the high street.
The apartment itself is very spacious and has a great layout and the decor is nice.
On arrival we found a note to say the oven was out of use. Daniel at Sykes Cottages was very friendly and efficient, in getting a short term resolution. The oven itself needs to be replaced.
The apartment needs some TLC.. There was a smell coming from the main bathroom, and the bath and showers could all do with some bleaching.
3.5
The property is good, it is in a very good location and quiet area. Easy to access to the walk paths and restaurants. The property has plenty of space. The kitchen has plenty of utensils available. The rooms have their ensuite which is very useful and a common toilet as well. The living room is comfy.
The flat is on the main floor and on the way of access to other flats, so you can hear people arriving and leaving their accommodation. The host is a company that didn't provide any help or options for leaving the bags at the property or a designated area. The guests have a lot of tasks on cleaning, we needed to stripping beds, take bins out, etc. The departure time is very early (10am) and it's not negotiable.

Not much. Probably best was the quality of the WiFi.
Terrible directions. No instructions where to leave the keys on departure. Windows didn't open or stay open. Construction right in front of the flat. No discount for such obvious obstruction to the view.
4.5
Really well appointed and decorated. Individual bathrooms. Central location with spectacular sunset views.
Instructions for appliances were basically either hand written or the original manuals. dedicated typewritten set of basic instructions would have been better.
At the moment there is major construction work very close to the property. Whilst this didn’t start until 8am it left the approaches muddy and slippery up a steep hill. Also access sometimes restricted by heavy lorries and machinery. Sykes should tell visitors more about this in advance ie when booking.
3.5
Good location. Spacious, comfortable accommodation with good kitchen diner lounge. Very comfortable beds.
The following are minor niggles rather than anything else and would stress this is a pleasant place to stay at in a lovely village and overall were sad to leave.
- There was a battery missing from the DVD remote control
- TV didn't work in guest bedroom
- With 4x4's parking either side of my bay it was impossible to park in designated bay but parked nearer the entrance instead.
- Info on recycle would be useful as was unclear
- Some pots and pans were dirty and needed washing. Roasting tin in particular needs a major scrubbing or replacing
- Too many windows painted shut, or needing a key to open, or having a limit on how far they can be opened could make apartment feel stuffy at times - imagine this is relatively rarely an issue but on a hot day could feel uncomfortable
- A little unclear which of the key deposits is the one for the Sea Chest but no big deal

A lovely spacious apartment which was clean and well equipped. We enjoyed the location both for easy access to the beach and also the excellent restaurants in Alnmouth which are only 5 minutes walk away from the apartment loop. We really enjoyed our stay.
There is some building work ongoing outside the front of the property however noise and disruption was all kept to a minimum and only operated 8 to 4pm.
