There wasn’t anything to like
It wasn’t very clean, the carpets were worn, it just felt very very dated and worn out
2.5
Location and dog friendly.
It was dirty, scruffy, filthy, needs a huge refurb, breakfast rubbish, coffee cold, £20 a night per dog!!! drinks very expensive, they seem to charge what they want. When I told him we'd be drinking elsewhere he said 'stay here, I give you discount' no hairdryer in the room, not enough towels, tv only one channel, blind knackered ...bathroom light fitting leaking water.
2.5
The room was comfortable
Food, service. At 10.30 i was told that if I wanted a drink from the bar i would have to take it to my room. I was told on leaving that breakfast was not included. Had i known this i would have made other arrangements.
I expected the ambience of an English pub . Every restaurant in the village was crowded .The schooner was empty.
2.5
Good location
No staff about, front door on a keypad would not open, and no breakfast served, booked with breakfast included, no staff to query and no information as to why there was no breakfast. Restaurant door locked.

This is a large hotel with multiple rooms, ours had been re furbished with a modern bathroom and was clean and comfortable. We had a warm welcome from the owner who helped with storing our bikes.
The staffing in the evening was just one young male who was running bar and food service. We chose to eat at the restaurant but the menu had many items not available and the quality of the food wasn’t great.

Very pleased with our stay. Martin the manager was very helpful, nice guy. Great beer garden. Beds clean and comfortable. Bedroom carpets however were well passed their best and could do with being replaced.
Bedroom carpets grubby. Alcohol expensive in comparison to other venues in the area.

Nice location
Nice hotel
Smelly room.
Rude staff when reported smell
Drinks to expensive
Bar prices way too expensive
Shame because it could be a lovely hotel
If the got someone to run it better
They should stick to restaurant side, which still was not perfect, as did not have food asked for
2.5
The hotel was not very clean. Threadbare carpeting, floor in our room was slanted, radiator was dirty and dented.. staff were not helpful in trying to get heat on.. dirty cleaning towel in bathroom

Excellent location, staff extremely helpful, breakfast was great. Thank you Martin and team!

Service during serving little rushed

Comfortable bed and very quiet place.
Nothing to say

Excellent staff and service
Decor could do with updating

The room was ok
Had phone call before arrival to say no staff would be in hotel, gave me code to get in front door, room key would be on a table. The hotel was effectively closed, no one in hotel at all only me, no staff at all, got up next morning, no staff at all , obviously no breakfast, so let myself out and went to find something to eat, hotel very tired and reqs decorating , just a very surreal experience..

Staff was extremely helpful. Location fantastic. Room very comfortable. Didn't use but common sitting rooms really nice.

Breakfast was interesting 🤔 fair value for money
No bacon, but lovely sausages, eggs etc the fresh raw tomato was different. We requested decaf tea and coffee, the tea was bought in specially, which was nice of them. Lots of toast and refills if tea a coffee offered
Our four legged friend enjoyed his sausages 🐾
The young staff were friendly, helpful and polite .
The pillows were very soft, the linen was clean and fresh .
Lots of hot water if you ran the tap for bout 10 mins .🤨
We ate one evening meal , both had curries . Very good in presentation and taste .
The second night we returned to the hotel bout 8pm to find everything completely closed down , bar, dining room etc ............
The state of the carpets , decor , paint , plasterwork and damp stains was appalling . I'm not sure how it is allowed to remain open, even on 3stars . The owners should be ashamed of themselves . We wondered how often the code for the front door was changed ❓ security
The hotel didn't seem to be a fully functioning concern , very odd in many ways . 2 nights were sufficient. Feel sad for the two staff we met . A wee bit training in cleaning would not go amiss. Wouldn't recommend the hotel, even though it was cheeper than others.

The staff were friendly and welcoming when we arrived and even though we arrived ahead of check in they quickly prepared our 2 rooms so we didn't have to carry our bags round all day. Very welcoming to our 3 children too which is a refreshing change from a lot of hotels. Rooms were spacious and clean and the bathroom was newly fitted.

Lovely staff, good value, warm room and welcome. Hearty breakfast

Read the reviews prior to going, and I was worried. First impressions were it could do with refurbishment but by the looked as if they are doing bit by bit. The duty manager couldn't do enough for us. Our room had been refurbished it was clean and tidy and we had a fab view of the coast. The bed was new and comfy. Bath room was modern and clean. It was a ideal spot for is for a 1 night get away. Even when we wanted a bite to eat they were more than welcome to make us something. I would definitely consider going back.
Carpet up stairs was a bit thread bear, and walls needed finishing off in the common areas.

poor breakfast
room " tired"

Unfortunately nothing, but the young boy left to run it was very polite.
Unfortunately everything. The hotel is neglected beyond belief and shouldn't be on any websites until it has had total restoration and refurbishment.

Alnmouth is a lovely location
The hotel was very disappointing, outdated and tired, in a state of disrepair. You are greeted with a strong smell of grease and fried food, dirty floors and inches thick of dust. No breakfast option available and drinks at the bar are limited. The bedroom was no better, dirty carpets, wallpaper coming off the ceiling, mould in the shower cubicle. Door frame had been damaged and was badly repaired the room was dusty and un kept, didn’t dare walk bare foot on the carpet!
I Would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

I absolutely do not recommend that place, and I ask for a refund.
This is the most aful experience I ever had in a hotel.
I left a message on the booking.com chat couple of days before my arrival to say that I was arrving around noon.
On my arrival day, the pub/hotel was closed. I assumed they were about to open and went to a tea room across the street to make a call. I called the phone number I had for the Schooner Hotel, and a man answered. He asked me to take a pen and a notebook to write down the information that would get me to my room. It was like an escape game !!
There was a digit locker on the main door, then an empty lobby with old newspapers on the floor, leaves on the floor, the chairs when up on the tables in the dining room, it was really messy and looked abandoned, like a ghost place. There was a iron curtain on the bar, and as explained on the phone two keys on a little table in the middle of the main room. I took mine (number 2) and went to my room upstairs.
My room was ok. Nothing special.
I left the hotel for a walk and found another pub in the village where i had a lovely diner.
When I came back around 10pm. Nothing has moved … still the old newspaper and mess in the lobby, the other key room was on the small table, and still no sign of life… That is when i realized that the wifi wasn’t only not working but that there was no wifi at all ! I was alone, in this ghostly building. I was thinking about the fact that the door locker at the main door had probably the same digit combination for years and anyone can enter ! I couldn’t sleep the entire night ! It felt so insecure.
I left the building at 6am the next morning ! Still nothing has moved downstairs, the key was still on the table, and i understood I had been the only one there last night !
Please see the pictures attached. It was 68£ a night but for what services ? For that price I had 4 nights in a Youth Hostel with a warmer welcome, well at leat someone to say welcome once !

The view where we parked was beautiful
The ENTIRE hotel was manky. I read reviews and knew it wasn’t going to be 5* but by god I didn’t expect the level on mank. Blood on wall, no curtains, hoover hasn’t been used ever I would say, dust, nails, prev. customers hair and bobbles, pubic hair on bed, head hair on bed…. I could go on!
2.5
Guy was friendly. It was better than I expected from the reviews!
Love the building, just needs some love put into it.
Whole place stinks of chip fat which I hate! Generally just shabby, seems like place has been left to go under which is sad.

The owner told us they hadn't been there long and were trying to improve the property which definitely needed it.
2.5
No breakfast. Location was very good.
Everything.
2.5
Very old-fashioned hotel.
The toilet had to be repaired before we could use it
Room facilities were minimal
no parking in a town with no parking is crazy hard
with almost no guests that night - why were we stuck in such a poor room
Most beers were off the menu
Food was very plain
2.5
The Indian food at the Inn’s restaurant at dinner time Ed was comfortable
Stafff was friendly but very inexperienced - appeared to be very understaffed as well
Very poor maintenance (no toilet roll holder , badly damaged and stained carpet and walls, broken vertical blinds in room), lack of information from staff that breakfast was not available, parking difficult to find, had to ask for a hairdryer from the bar

location was good
a bit dated decor could do with updating
