We read the description and the reviews so there were no surprises at the house. The views from the deck were well enjoyed at all times of the day and evening. The location of the home was perfect for us and we appreciated the easy and quick response from the Micheal.

This is a wonderful space for any type of retreat. The home has a wonderful back deck, it’s close enough to tourism outings without being noisy because of them. Parking is a tad difficult if you have multiple large vehicles. I do suggest bringing your own toilet paper as it was quite thin. It really was a wonderful trip!

We just stayed there for 7 days. It rained and was overcast part of the week. Only the bedrooms are air conditioned so it was foggy and very humid in the living areas. Most windows facing the street don’t open at all, the ones that do are propped open with a stick. We had children in our family who struggled with the latch openings on doors. The first day there I complained half the kitchen lights didn’t work and there were no lights inside the refrigerator . Although he promised me several times it would be fixed the next day, it was never done. The owner did replace the grill when I reported it was too rusty to use. Beware of the dishwasher door that fell open and landed on my daughter’s knee. Only one toilet brush for 3 bathrooms used by 10 people. The East facing windows have white curtains and light pours in at 5am. No shades to darken the bedrooms

Great visit and location

This was a perfect house for our stay and searching our genealogy roots in the North Shore. Beautiful views. Near many wonderful restaurants and shops. It is an older house so a little quirky and fewer bathrooms than people nowadays are used to. But a fun experience. The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of linens. Plenty of hot water and water pressure. A well stocked kitchen. The owner was very communicative. Would recommend and stay there again!

The house is situated in a cozy little spot that allows you to walk through the back yard to an old boat dock and rocky Beach area. We fished a bit there and caught a few small fish. The town of Rockport is close and is wonderful! The sunrise from all stories is spectacular! Very well stocked house with linens, blankets, toilet paper, soap, clorox wipes, etc. The quirks: stairs to the 2nd floor are fairly steep, one of the bedrooms on the 2nd floor can't be accessed without going through the other bedroom, 3rd floor is completely open...even the bathroom. The house leans, so a few people in my group complained of back issues while standing in the kitchen. I loved it though, the host was so helpful and responsive and made the booking process so simple. I'd love to come back!

We loved this place! It was so close to the ocean and the views were amazing. It was perfect for my 40th birthday trip to Salem. It was a fairly easy walk to the train station and Whistlestop Market.

All good. Owner very responsive to questions

Walking distance to town. Enjoyed the decks and kitchen window seat with view of water. Lots of bedroom space. Main bedroom with king bed is on third floor with private deck and views. Great reading nook! Would stay again.
Recommend a sound machine if road noise early in morning would bother you. It sits right on the road.
Would stay again!

This house was great for our month long trip to Rockport. We loved the short walk (10-15 min) to the beach. The owner also helped supply everything we needed for our toddler, too.

My husband and I are originally from the Boston area and my family wanted to visit the area. We started in Rockport to visit the Gloucester and Salem area. So glad we chose this house. It was so quaint and the owner was very accommodating and quick to respond to any questions or issue we had. We were on the water giving us beautiful sunrise and sunsets. The only issue we had was the road the house is located on - being between 2 curves making it precarious getting out hoping someone is not speeding. Location to everything was great

The house was warm and welcoming. Walked to park for the kids and downtown Rockport was easy. The views from the back porch are beautiful and we could walk to the water right from the back yard. The steep stairs in the house were a worry as we had a 2 1/2 and 3 year old , but all went well and we had a great time.

My family had a fabulous stay at this property. It was clean, comfortable, and within walking distance of so many points of interest. The views of the ocean from all three decks were wonderful. Family members with less mobility were content to sit on the first floor deck and watch the boats come and go while others explored the area. As a family that cooks, we appreciated the quality stainless steel cookware - a rare find in rentals. Michael was an attentive host who provided excellent instructions, tips, and recommendations. I would stay here again.

This was just the type of accommodations we were looking for. Our group of 6 had plenty of room and the features of the house was like stepping back in time with modern amenities. It was clean and well cared for. The owner was very responsive to questions. We would definitely return if we needed accommodations for a group..

This is an old, historic home that has been "done over" for rental purposes. It still retains some of the charm (and quirks) of an old home. The view off the back porches is just... beautiful. The proximity of the house is walking distance (sidewalks) to downtown shops & restaurants in Rockport. VERY short drives to Gloucester, large beaches, state parks etc. The photos of the inside are helpful if you understand what you are viewing. The rooms are not very large. Windows "somewhat" open and shut, doors the same. The upstairs apartment area(3rd floor) is quite nice, private, great bedding and the most quiet part of the house. Other rentals are very close by, so it helps to be higher up. The bathroom and shower for the upstairs room are located en suite-around a corner partition. However, there is no door to the bathroom area. The downstairs is sectioned into many small rooms as most old homes are. For our family's purposes the sleeping arrangement with the small children was a little tough, but we made do. With older children ages (5 plus I think) it wouldn't be a problem having beds out on a landing. There are steep narrow stairs to get up to the bedrooms and the bathrooms. Two sets to get to the private room on third floor . Not a problem for us, but, maybe for some. (Old house- remember?)There is a tiny half bath room with a sliding door located off the kitchen which was very handy for the little ones and people who didn't want to make the up-stairs trip. The kitchen is charming, small. Appliances could use updating. Most everything works. The house (see VRBO photos) is VERY close to the road. When using the front door, we carried or had children by the hand. If road noise is an issue for you, you might think twice. If not, then you should consider the location. It's the trade off to be able to walk to town, where there is not much parking The other (back) entrance for the house is down a flight of stone steps next to the parking area, then up another(wooden) set to the back deck to access the bottom floor/kitchen area.
The owner is pleasant, informative, very responsive - good with communication. The check in(easy)and expected clean up for check out is entirely reasonable. Overall, it was a good experience for everyone. The children loved their first time in the ocean at the lovely beaches, listening to the local band play on the town green, The adults loved the area, being able to walk to places-or even go the town beach after dinner.

If you enjoy character rich, antique filled, quirky, old homes, this house is perfect for you! The top floor bedroom suite was amazing, as were all of the lovely porches. The other bedrooms were smaller, but each had a queen size bed. The kitchen was large enough for a whole family of cooks, quite well equipped with cooking and bar utensils. The dining room table and living room each comfortably sat around 8 people. The rest of our large group sat comfortably on the porch or at the kitchen counter nook. The views from the porches was very lovely and inviting. Do be aware that there is parking for a maximum of 4 cars, should you have friends and family joining up from various locations, as we did. Michael was extremely responsive and very polite and kind. Overall, a lovely visit. Many thanks to our host!

Charming large house with a beautiful view
I loved my long weekend staying here - the ocean views were exactly what I needed to recharge. The house was immaculately clean, and the kitchen was well-stocked with pots and pans etc. Huge windows and sliding doors to the balconies on every level. (Families with small children should be aware the stairs are steep, and the road outside is fairly busy.) Easy and scenic walk to central Rockport for restaurants etc. I wish I could have stayed longer!

We had a fantastic time exploring the coast in February!

The house is cozy and comfortable, and very clean. It has aged with character and was fun to enjoy. The plumbing takes a fine touch in the shower and at the kitchen sink, but otherwise, great. It is a quick walk to the ocean, and to downtown.
