About this house rental

This romantic lakehouse is a couples' dream. You'll experience the tranquility that only being on the secluded lake has to offer while being only 25 min from every bar & restaurant in Halifax and 29 min to Peggy’s Cove. This dreamy retreat has been in the family for 10 yrs & we're so excited to share our little slice of heaven with those that want an escape to take in a scenic hike, a moon-lit fire, a mid-day lake swim, a cocktail on the deck (or a glass of wine), or to drop a line in & fish.

The space
We're right on the lake so we have the fog that rolls in during the wee hours (This is why no ac is ever needed). We have the lakehouse decked out in super comfortable furniture, lots of down pillows, cozy blankets & amenities to make your stay extra comfortable (**we love comfy spaces). There are sets of stairs to get down to the house so be prepared for natures' staircase to be part of your travel! (*We would recommend that you only chose this place if you don't mind getting some exercise & your pet is okay with stairs!) There are life jackets, fishing rods in the boathouse, a firepit, deck chairs, and lots of things to do to relax while only being 15 minutes from Bayers Lake.

Guest access
Dreamy Lakefront View Retreat House has a lot to offer. Feel the luxurious vibes and enjoy the breathtaking views. Calm your mind & meditate in our spa house as we provide robes & slippers. Enjoy the calming cold plunge lake. There is a boathouse on the property which has some fishing rods too. Just bring bait and you are good to go. In the winter, we shovel the snow on cleaning days but if we happen to get snow-fall on a day we aren't at the property, there is a snow shovel and pet-friendly salt provided. There are 59 stairs leading down to the secluded property so please book accordingly with senior pets or any mobility issues.

We also have a maintenance staff that maintain the yard, grass, gardens, garbage, etc and they are on the property from time to time. We will need access to keeping the grass cut and yard maintained so if you see him on the property, his name is Daniel and he'll do his best to make his scheduled visits quick. If you have any concerns about this, please speak with us before booking.

Other things to note
The key will be left for you and you'll be able to check in whenever you please.

Please be advised that there will be an additional $75 animal cleaning fee if animal hair requires additional cleaning time or if there is an odor left. These cases are very unusual but it is our preference to mention this.

If you have additional people on the property, you will be charged $40 per person. We expect to know when additional people are brought onto the property.

If anything is damaged, you will be charged for that item in addition to cleaning time if the cottage is left in a state of array. We expect you to treat it as your home.

There is no smoking inside the cottage. If you do not respect this rule, you will be charged a $250 fee.

This cabin is definitely so cozy and comfortable. We loved the neighborhood, view, and quiet neighbors! Like stated, the stairs could be a problem for some, but was fine for our family. The backyard was a wonderful retreat every afternoon. The one thing we missed was the dock (there was not one) and the pedal boat. Both are pictured in the listing, but not available, unfortunately.

We enjoyed the location of the property. Stairs were a bit of a challenge for moving in and out. Next door neighbour was great and very helpful! Accommodations could have been a bit cleaner overall, there was only a single dishwasher tablet, no oven mitts that we could find, extra bedding was very messy in closet, not sure if clean/dirty, dirty cooking tray was left in oven which we cleaned after arriving.

Great locationgreat view, alot of stairs from vehicle to cabin but we were fine with the steps. Check in was OK as the lockbox was not even latched and was left open. We had to do a search of property to make sure we were only ones there. The majority of house was clean, however the area you want spotless is the kitchen. The kitchen cabinets had mice droppings throughout. There was alot old expired food left in cabinets that the mice had some meals from. Then there was an open bag of cannabis left in cabinet. Granted its legal, just was odd to find in a VRBO. The first 3 days we were unable to enjoy the yard and lake area as the grass was extremely long. When we arrived back from a day trip the grass was cut so we decided to take the canoe out. Which if i had to guess had not been flipped over or used in awhile. We we unable to use the canoe due to the metal support resting in the keel line was slid all the way to front making the canoe unsteerable. We could not use the charcoal grill as the grate was rusted and unusable. The pellet grill did wonderful, however had to clean out previous use of wet pellets. The neighbor on the left was great and friendly. The neighbor on right had a few kids that were extremely loud over the weekend and they were cutting through the property. The fishing from shore was awesome, alot of catch and release but made for a great time. My son enjoyed the kid toys. Overall the property needs some attention in the kitchen and maybe a change in listing

Wonderful stay for a family with two young kids. Lots of play time in the lake, enough room inside for everything necessary. Host was quick & responsive. Would recommend!
