About this house rental
Welcome to Carr House, a luxurious contemporary detached 4 bedroom holiday home in the idyllic South Lakes market town of Kirkby Lonsdale. Carr House benefits from a quiet cul-de-sac location, yet is only a 5 minute walk from the shops, restaurants and pubs of Kirkby Lonsdale and the River Lune. Immediately outside the property there is a patio, with furniture and a large gravelled area providing ample parking for 3 cars.
The 4 bedrooms include a king-size with an en-suite, a double and a twin (zip/link can be double on request), as well as a child's bedroom with bunk beds. There is a family bathroom, a separate W/C and an additional W/C, shower room on the ground floor. Also there is a kitchen, utility, dining room and a sitting room with a sofa bed. Travel Cot, available on request. Bed linen is included in the rental price and dogs are welcome but there is an additional cost for cleaning and they must be kept on the ground floor. Carr House sleeps 8 adults and is a fantastic property for a family or friends gathering.
Kirkby Lonsdale is a small and relatively unspoilt market town situated on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Flanking the three counties of Cumbria, Lancashire and North Yorkshire as it does, the town offers a tranquil and picturesque base from which to explore the English Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales and the Forest of Bowland. Kirkby Lonsdale itself is a historic, quaint market town with a growing reputation for high quality independent shopping (it was runner-up in the 2016 Great British High Street Awards), as well as excellent restaurants, cafés and bars.
The Town is notably home to the 14th century Devil's Bridge, as well as Ruskin's View, which inspired a painting by artist JMW Turner in 1822, and poet John Ruskin to declare ‘I do not know in all my country, still less in France or Italy, a place more naturally divine.’
The region is a postcard panorama of craggy hilltops, mountain tarns and glittering lakes and Carr house is a great base to explore the amazing fells and countryside. With so much to see and do in the area, you can choose to keep yourself busy or perhaps simply relax and enjoy the peace and beauty that Kirkby Lonsdale has to offer.

8 of us stayed 18-79 years plenty of bathrooms and toilets which is always a bonus - we spent most of our time in the kitchen round the table even managed to have the bi fold doors open occasionally - really handy for walking into Kirkby Lonsdale too

We had a wonderful stay in this property over new year. The property is very close to the centre of Kirby Lonsdale & also for exploring the surrounding countryside. The property is very clean and cosy, with spacious bedrooms and comfortable beds. The kitchen is also well equipped. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

Impressive property in a nice street. Despite being very close to other properties didn't notice any noise. Neighbours also friendly too.
Location was fantastic. Closer to town than expected. Not even 5 minutes walk to most things.
Kitchen was incredibly well equipped with more utensils, crockery and cutlery than I've seen in any other property.
Great clear communication with property owner.
Would stay again.

Very nice property, well equipped and in a lovely quiet location. The outside needs tidying up, dead plants in the containers, dead leaves piling up by the front door, and gravel scattered over the front terrace. It’s a shame the outside is not as well cared for as the inside.

We stayed in the property in the summer of 2021 so we rebooted for a new years getaway with family, cannot fault the place, we adore the village, didn't think it would be busy but yes it was very busy, we struggled getting in the pubs until the 2nd of January but all in all a wonderful stay yet again

We would recommend Carr House for families & friends. With 3 bath/ shower rooms there's plenty of space for everyone. A good sized kitchen makes self dining fun. Although no back garden, there is space at the front to BBQ if you bring your own. Local baker - Lunes - opens at 6am. Local brewery nearby to Booths is well worth a visit.

Family Christmas
We rented this property to spend Christmas 2021 here with family. We had a great time. Lovely property, spotlessly clean and a nice location. The initial group consisted of seven adults and two children. However two of our party had to cancel due to work commitments. This left seven of us and at times it was a bit crowded in the L shaped sitting room which was rather small and impractical for seven of us. If the original nine of us had been there it would have been overcrowded and uncomfortable. And we would have needed to use the pull down bed settee which would have been impractical and inconvenient due to the size of the sitting room. That being said we would certainly stay there again and readily recommend the house. But don’t think it was suitable for our size of party.

Wonderful house
Booked to stay with 6 friends to walk the 3 peaks, the house was perfect for the 7 of us, really comfortable and homely with everything we needed. Everyone was impressed with the standard of accommodation and the great showers were a massive welcome after a long day walking. I contacted the owner for advise on travel times etc. and she was fast to reply and really helpful. Thank you so much.

Beautiful house in a lovely little village with everything you need for the perfect break. Location is superb only downside is the steep hill which is was difficult for our parents to walk up when we were going between the house and the bars/ restaurants

Great house in Kirkby Lonsdale
We were 6 adults and two small children. The house was spacious, very comfortable and very well equipped. It is a short walk into the the shops, cafés and bars of KL, and a great base for exploring the local area. There was plenty of parking space for our three cars. I would not hesitate to recommend this house to any similar sized party.

Excellent
This is an excellent property very conveniently situated for the lovely market town of Kirkby Lonsdale. There is everything in the house you need. Our 14 month old grandson would like to say thank you for the skittles and toy piano; thoughtful additions in the box of toys. This is a very warm and welcoming house which accommodated five adults very easily. We would certainly come back again and highly recommend it.
You must go to Booths grocers.
