Perfect little place for a get away. We were here for a songwriting retreat at another location in town….so basically we needed a place to sleep. Didn’t spend much time during the day in the house. The arrangement of the house is nice. The Living room and kitchen is in the middle of the house with a bedroom and bathroom on each end of the house. The separation by the living room and kitchen provides more privacy. Bedrooms each have an air conditioner unit. Living room and kitchen tend to stay a little warmer. The screened in porch was a favorite place to gather in the morning and the evening. The kitchen is very small, but works to make a light breakfast or a quick lunch. Easy, no contact check-in. We would stay here again.

We used the cottage as home base for a week long AT section hike. Worked out great!
3.0 / 5.0
The best feature of this property is the front porch. It is screened on three sides to provide a great breeze and has ample seating as well as a card table and additional chairs. There are also sunshades to block the sun's rays as needed. The view of the mountains and nearby flower gardens are wonderful. The owners brought in fresh flowers on the second day of our stay, which was a kind gesture. With those things said, though, it is important to point out the drawbacks as well. This is a minimalist house. The kitchen is tiny, the fridge is very small, and the stove is small. There were limited essentials, such as no hot pads for cooking and no hand soap in one of the bathrooms. While the linens seemed clean, there were cobwebs in some of the glasses and the floors were overtly dusty. The Wi-Fi was unreliable and the TV was small. The owners live next door, which made it easy to resolve issues during our stay, however they were unresponsive to multiple attempts prior to arrival to get a question answered. If your plans are to mostly be outside and to eat out, this house will be adequate for you. However, you should approach with caution if the weather is inclement or if you plan to mostly be indoors. Hot springs is a beautiful area and be sure to visit the hot springs spa!

It’s old and dark and could be quaint with a little attention. Bed was comfy. Windows drafty. It was unlocked upon arrival and no key available through the entire stay. Had we had much of value it would have been concerning. I tried to email and text the owner before arrival and after arrival but no response. Upon arrival there were instructions on how to contact he neighbor if needed, who also did not respond. The screened porch was great and would’ve been the place to be (if it hadn’t been too cold.)

We had a lovely time in Hot Springs hiking, fishing and enjoying the hot tubs at the resort! We walked into downtown with our 5 year old for food and had such an awesome time. Highly recommend the cottage due to its awesome location, privacy, pretty views, ease of check in and the property is exactly as advertised!

Was a very nice little cabin. Quite and cozy. Walked to eat or just out looking around. Would rent again.

Cute cottage in walking distance to town and driving distance to the NOC.

Step back in time at The Rock Cabin, but with modern bathrooms and climate control as needed. The porch is a respite for weary travelers and/or hikers. Plenty of restaurants and entertainment in a compact, walkable village.

Convenient to Appalachian Trail and other outdoor activities. Short walk to dining options and convenience stores. Quiet location with comfortable rooms, adequate kitchen, and nice front porch for enjoying morning coffee or relaxing in the evening.

Hot Springs, North Carolina sits alongside the Appalachian Trail. Each spring Through-Hikers, those going from Georgia to Maine come through town. It makes for a unique community when locals and hikers mix and enjoy each other's company. This was a perfect cottage to stay at while enjoying some hiking and visiting along the trail. It is very comfortable with a beautiful screen porch.

Property owner greeted us when we arrived. Told us if we needed anything let her know.. Location of property is great. Porch was lovely. A few thing to make our stay better would have been newer pots and more small bowls. Also, the property smelled musty when we arrived. So a good airing out would help. Part of the cottage is older and part is renovated.

Dirty and felt unsafe
We had a terrible experience, the property was very dirty. The air did not properly cool. And we were very uncomfortable when we came home at 10pm to see the owner on the property, then scurry into the bushes in hopes of us not seeing him. We would have loved to leave but had no where else to go

Cozy Cottage a Winner
This two bedroom cottage in the beautiful little town of Hot Springs, NC is a winner. It is within walking distance to town, on the Appalachian Trail. The hosts are wonderful people who try to make one feel at home immediately. Any problems are handled immediately, and all essentials are provided. We had a wonderful time intercepting our daughter and her husband as they hiked the Southbound AT and gave them a complete turkey dinner (a week early due to their hiking schedule). We had a grand time. The Cozy Cottage is "cozy" but has all one could need - even a coffee pot (with tea and coffee provided) that makes a pot of coffee, or a single cup (like Keureg). The Hillbilly Market, Dollar General, and even the dinner are at the end of their road. So convenient. Recommended.

Excellent location, comfy cottage
The rock cottage is very comfy, and the screened in porch really makes it an excellent option. I think we’d have felt a bit claustrophobic if it had been winter and we’d have been confined to the tiny indoor living room. The cottage was spotlessly clean, although the silverware, cookware and plates could use an occasional scrub instead of relying on guests to put away clean items. Wifi was very spotty and frustrating so I wouldn’t recommend it if you need to do some work. Peaceful and a great few nights of sleep though so we’d be very happy to go back.

Great mountain getaway
Myself and two others rented this cottage for a training that was being held at The Laughing Heart Lodge. The property had everything we needed, was very clean and comfortable, and the property owners were quick to help with anything requested. The new porch was so relaxing to end our day watching fireflies in the fresh mountain air.
The only confusion we had was that the original listing pulled up a different location around the corner when brought up on Maps. But once I was able to restart my phone, the correct address did come up and I found the cottage nestled in a quaint neighborhood with Hot Springs.
We would definitely stay on this cottage again and look forward to our next time in Hot Springs!
